"Our party of 6 booked this property for a 4 night break. First the good news .The house is in a fantastic location - bang in the heart of the old city and a five minute walk to all the main attractions. We had chosen a house rather than a hotel as we wanted to be able to have living space to hang out in between sightseeing. Unfortunately the house was not properly prepared for our arrival - not properly cleaned, no loo paper at all, insufficent towels left out, light bulbs not working, no gas in cooker. Most of these matters were resolved for us the following day. However a major problem was the lift not working - we had 2 elderly relatives with us and four flights of stairs was a major problem. This was not sorted out during our stay. There were also repairs outstanding - the hole in the floorboards mentioned in a previous report was still there, a wash basin was missing - gone for repair. The overall impression which we got was of a neglected house in need of some money spending on it. For 6 of us it would have been cheaper and more comfortable to book into the hotel across the road. My advice to the owner is that, if you wish to continue to ask the rental fees as they are currently set, you need to invest some time and money to bring this property up to scratch."

"Hi, Eight of us had a very enjoyable stay in this lovely house. It was a great size with enough room for privacy and entertaining, the highlight being the roof terrace. Although situated in a busy, touristy area, the open views over the city rooftops of the mosques and the river were tranquil and atmospheric, also very central to exploring the rest of the city. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and the house has good cooking facilities. The local grocers are expensive and poor quality, loading up on groceries over on the asian side is worth the boat trip and money saved. The house was very clean although there are no cleaning products supplied for your stay. The descriptions were accurate although it is an older property and the plumbing, hot water were not too reliable. The property seems to be in an ongoing state of repair, with workmen turning up in the house unannounced which not everyone appreciated. Also we never found the steam room. I would recommend this house, it was worth the money for the eight of us although as we were prepared to over look the plumbing, leaking, flushing issues a few cleaning products and bin bags in good faith would be nice. thanks for our lovely stay"

"The house is spacious and comfortable, if a bit shabby in places. It has an excellent location and wonderful views from the terrace. It provided a perfect meeting place for friends and relatives who had come for the wedding. The caretakers were friendly and helpful, although we were not aware of their presence for the first 2 days. The emails that were sent containing useful information did not arrive before we left England and were not read until our return. You must not assume that people are always able or willing to access emails while on holiday. "

"Residence Sultanahmet is one of the most exotic and enjoyable villas i have ever stayed in. I went with family and extended family, perhaps a little nervous about everyone getting under each others toes... but the spacious layout and numerous social areas meant that even with eight people under the same roof we all felt very relaxed and at home. The location was great, close to all the amenities and attractions you could want to experience over four days. The roof terrace is a massive bonus, with spectacular views, comfortable seating and a dining table which was great for communal breakfasts and evening cocktails. I could have spent most of my time relaxing there if there wasnt so many other things to do! The regular call to prayer from the numerous mosques in Sultanamet might interfere with very light sleepers in the morning and those taking an afternoon siesta (after shopping for hours in the grand bazaar) but i found they simply added to the charisma of this enchanting city."

"Very charming, well equipped (having your own hamam after a day of walking miles in the old parts of the town......simply a dream!), nice and clean bathrooms. Spectacular view from the roof! Honestly we had our doubts if the pictures are clever-taken only - but they´re not, the view is gorgeous! No obstacles to bosphorus, Atatürk-Bridge, Haydarpasa, Kadiköy, Princes Islands, Ayasofya and Sultanahmet-Camii.....and enough small shops around to prepare your own breakfast and diner with your crew. Can´t think of a better place to stay for a cultural visit. Thanks/cok tesekkürler!"

"There are two outstanding features of this property: its location, and its size. I can’t think of a better place to be in Istanbul than in the heart of Sultanahmet, less than five minutes walk from both Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. From the large patio roof garden you can look out onto both, as well as enjoy a panoramic view of the Bosphorus. And the house is wonderfully spacious: big rooms and lots of them. Had there been eight of us, it would have felt very roomy, and with only four, we were rattling around! As illustrated by the photographs on this website, the house interior has a period French style, with Turkish touches. It’s all very tasteful, but sadly, a little neglected. It was disappointing to find leaking pipes (in one case allowing water to seep through two floors – I suggested to the agent that he might find a bucket to try to protect the library bookshelf) a small patch of floor in the main dining area had completely rotted through some of the electrical sockets were exposed there were dead light bulbs that I asked to be replaced (but never were) and so on. And although there was adequate bed linen and towels, there was a distinct absence of other ‘basics’ like tea towels, dish cloths, dustpan and brush or broom, bin bags, sink plugs, etc. None of these things mattered greatly to us, but given that the rental cost is not cheap, it was a little surprising. And be aware that the advertised price does not include: a booking charge of 20 EUR a credit card percentage charge (in my case, of nearly 70 EUR) and a non-refundable ‘breakage waiver’ of 30 EUR. (Review: April 2009) "

Owner reply: :
Dear Mr.Richard ,

Thanks for your comments about our residence.Your comments are so important for us to improve ourselves.
I would like to tell that leeking pipes appeared before you arrive to house and we had no chance to repair it when you are in house. ( ý had explained it to you when you were at the residence ) But you should tell that leeking pipes were not in your rooms or living room or dining room.It was at the place which is not effecting negative your staying.
I do not want to discuss about the price, but you must know that our prices is fixed for all year and it is so suitable for the Sultanahmet area when you compare with the 2-3 star hotel prices.
We are not charging the credit card percentages ,booking charge etc as Sultanahmet Residence. You should discuss this subject with villarenters.com.

"Tho location of the house is excellent - very close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and the Topkapi palace, as well as the bazaars, tram and shops. The view from the terrace is beautiful - the sea in one direction and the mosques in the other. The living room is a wonderful area to relax in - we listened to music, played the games supplied and watched the view. The kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, plates etc., but there did not appear to be running hot water or a plug for the sink. (To be fair - we did not report this to the owner. He was very quick to have a leak in one bathroom repaired.) Not all the bathroom sinks had plugs either. The bedrooms were comfortable, but not all had either drawers or hanging space, so we were obliged to live out of our suitcases. The whole apartment was very clean, with plenty of towels and good bed linen. The family/caretakers who live in the basement were available to prepare meals if required, but our party was self-catering. There were 8 of us, which was the perfect number for the seating available. We all had proper beds (2 shared a double). The lift was useful for moving our luggage. Overall, a wonderful location, house and holiday!"
