| "When this development is completed it will be a great base for anyone who knows the area.
I know Hurghada well and was under the impression that Desert Pearl 1 was complete. However the following are listed as available but actually arenot: No gym or internet cafe, no satellite or cable for the TV - -just a small ariel connected to the tv which managed occasionally to find one egyptian channel. Apparently this isnt available because the development isnt finished?
I would also not recommend this particular apartment (D401) at this time as it overlooks the Desert Pearl 2 development which is still under construction. Work starts at dawn and finishes until dusk and does create a lot of noise.
The double sofa bed only sleeps one comfortably. My partner is 6ft tall and did hang over the edge by quite a way.
There are no panoramic views except for the building site next door - this meant it was not possible to sit out on the balcony due to noise and dust. The concierge service is on request and costs 60LE per time. But if you want laundry services for the sheets and towels there is a cheap but excellent laundry in the street behind the development. Or the washing machine is OK but drying is difficult because the balcony is too dusty to hang things on at the moment.
The beaches nearby are quite expensive as they are linked to hotels but if you take a 20 minute walk along the promenade there are a couple of good beaches - -Old Vic Village which is a public beach and therefore reasonable peaceful and the Elysee Beach / Health Spa which is 30LE for a bed with towel - it isnt a quiet beach but does have a bar and food at reasonable prices.
Overall, when this complex is finished it will be a great place to stay. The promenade is a fabulous place and the Mar Mar cafe (10 minutes walk) is a great traditional egyptian cafe where they are happy to let you sit and chill until the early hours with (non-alcoholic) drinks and shisha.
Hurghada is a growing city and the main Sekalla area is wonderful - just 20le in a taxi or even cheaper by white minibus. The Marina is a must see as is the food market in downtown.
We did have a few queries while we were there but Well Placed Apartments answered these very promptly. Also the guys at the gate are very helpful and polite. A memorable two week stay!
