| "This was our second holiday in the property. Both times we have received a very warm welcome from Barrie and Jan who provide lots of information about the area, where to eat etc. They come round very quickly if you need something. We found the house to be spacious and very clean with all necessary facilities and equipment. The air con is a real bonus giving us a comfortable nights sleep. The pool area is clean, pretty and well maintained. There is an excellent Spanish restaurant in Hotel Manduca which is almost opposite the property, and other good restaurants in the village. There are some lovely local beaches, we liked Bahia and LAzohia, but still havent explored them all. We shall definitely be coming back, the area is not too busy with lovely, clean beaches and is good value for money."

"The main drawback was no mains cold water. It ran warm at best (undrinkable). The owner blames this on the shallow Spanish water mains pipe but I have never come across that in Spain before.
Do not expect a well equiped kitchen. No saucepans just enamelled oven pots. The bathroom sized waste bin in a kitchen is too small for 5-6 people and flexible plastic utensils next to useless. The position of the electric sockets over the electric hob is also quite dangerous.
A/C is only in the bedrooms though there are ceiling fans. The bathroom is not mechanically vented even though there is no window.
Otherwise, we had a great time. The children loved the communal swimming pool cleaned every morning.
The Costa Calida is wonderful. Beaches are numerous and generally clean. We particularly enjoyed a guided tour of Cartegena by Segway, horse riding at META (25 minutes drive), scuba diving from Puerto de Mazarron and visits to Caravaca de la Cruz and Murcia."

:
This *is* the Costa Cálida (Warm Coast) so you have to let the water run for a long time in order to get it cooler. But after a long hot summer it still runs at 25 degrees C so is never drinkably cold. Because here on *this* coast, unlike inland or on other coasts to the N or SW we never have frosts, the pipes are not laid deeply. But even if they were, the water would still not be cold as by this time of year the reservoirs, like the swimming pools, have been heated by the sun to 25 to 28 degrees and the heat has penetrated several feet down into the ground!. That is why there is a large fridge. It is the same everywhere here and we ourselves always keep bottles of drinking water in the fridge. (This is not UK but is, on average, the warmest and driest part of Spain.)
The soft tools are for use in the non-stick pans but there are also hard tools in a drawer - clearly the renter did not find them. The kitchen is FULLY equipped and others have told us they were pleased to find it so.
Spanish saucepans do not have long handles so that children cannot pull them over and scald themselves. What the renter calls "enamelled oven pots" cannot be used in the oven. They are Spanish saucepans as used by local housewives.
The waste bin is deliberately not huge so supermarket bags can be used to line it and to ensure that in the summer heat it has to be emptied into the dustbins to avoid smells. (The Council empties the dustbins 7 nights a week in the summer for this same reason!).
We are not permitted to put aircon downstairs by the Community Rules as the compressor unit noise would annoy neighbours. When we are cleaning the house we find cold air pouring down the stairs from the aircon units upstairs, keeps the downstairs perfectly cool.
The house is built to modern Spanish building regulations - not British ones. Unless someone unplugs the kettle and toaster and plugs them in again the other way up, they are perfectly safe even though the placing of the sockets (above one side of the hob) is not ideal.
This is not England, I am pleased to say. Recent renters have been very pleasantly surprised to find how different and Spanish it is here. If you want Little England in the Sun, this is not the place to come.

"The house was extremely clean and well equipped on a lovely complex close to the small resort. The only issue was that there was not enough storage for seven people and would be better suited to fit five people with the provision of wardrobes in place of two of the beds. The owners are close by and are extremely helpful."
Owner reply:
:
We have never known a group have so many huge suitcases and extra rucksacks - you would have thought they coming for several months not just for 10 days.
They then put all the children in the master bedroom so the huge double wardrobe was not available to the two adult couples.
No one else has ever said the storage is so inadequate but I am not surprised this group found it so.

| "This is an excellent property for a family holiday. We received a very friendly welcome from the owners, who also gave us good advice for local places to visit and had even produced their own detailed maps for us to follow.
The property was very clean and everything we needed was supplied. When we did have a small problem the owners arrived immediately to sort it out. The pool was cleaned daily and was very safe for the children as it is surrounded by the villas in the complex and viewable from our terrace.
There are plenty of places to eat within a short walking distance and the beach is only 10 minutes walk away. We were there in August, which is obviously peak season, when there were various events on in the town. This meant a couple of very noisy nights!
Overall, an excellent property in a good location- we would definitely recommend it to others.

| "A nice and clean holiday apartment especially suitable if you travel with kids. The poolarea is nice and close to the apartment and the lawn is good for playing.
The living area is quiet even if it's both restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Not far from the apartment there are some nice
shallow beaches with no waves great for children.
We had a lovely relaxing holiday enjoying the hospitality of Mr and Mrs. Avis.
The location of the apartment is ideal because it's so close to everything."

The surrounding areas were well worth a visit especially Cartagena and Lorca. The apartment was very comfortable and we especially liked the patio area."

| "This house is set in an ideal location. It remains a quiet, relatively untouristy part of Spain although there are signs of things changing with the increasing invasion of the Brits. However, the majority of businesses are still Spanish - with bars, restaurants, locals and Spanish holiday makers in abundance.
The house is situated in a complex with a mix of Brits and Spanish. The house is comfortable, clean and meets all requirements. Very importantly, there are two patio areas ensuring that at all times there is the option of shade or sun. There is also a lovely balcony for two which is pleasant to retreat to.
Having two small children I found this property to be extremely safe. All doors and gates lock. This was a big relief for me ensuring my two year old could not wander to the pool or onto the road (although it is an extremely quiet road). Similarly, the door onto the balcony had a safe door that she could not open.
The complex was quiet and the people there, whether renting or residents, were all friendly and helpful. The pool was exquisite and exceptionally well maintained as were the gardens. My only complaint was that the pool was a little chilly at times, especially in the mornings and late afternoons. As I holidayed in Sep/Oct this is only to be expected and may simply be a sign that I am getting soft! The weather though was fantastic.
This house is literally a 2 min stroll to the shop, bars, restaurants and beach. The beach is beautiful and the sea a delight to swim in.
We holidayed without the use of a car and found this absolutely no problem at all. The local shop had all we required, there were enough restaurants and bars to provide diversity, there was internet access within Bolnuevo and a cash machine for the withdrawal of money. Within 10-15 minutes walking distance there was a fantastic childrens playground and utterly safe swimming lagoon. Similarly, going the opposite way, a 10-15 min stroll resulted in idyllic coves and sheltered seas.
If a bank or larger supermarket is required there is a very regular bus service to the next town, only 15 mins away.
In short, the property and location of this holiday house is fantastic. We had such a great, relaxing holiday. The owners were also exceptionally helpful, friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had all we required. I thoroughly recommend this house, pool and location. We'll certainly be back!!
