"Our 3rd Visit to the Old Village and each time our expectaions have been exceeded. We had a wonderful time during the holiday and our children aged 11 & 8 enjoyed swimming in the pools on offer and had a great holiday. The pools we felt were never overcrowded and we easily obtained sunloungers during the day.The Zanzibar and Princess gardens offer excellent food and service something which can not be said about the restraunt (Casa de Longa) in the centre of the old village which was our only dissapointment during the holiday. The appartment is equipped well for a summer holiday and the owner is very accomadating and friendly. Without hesitation we would reccomend this appartment and the old village for a holiday."

"We went at beginning of August as a family of 4 including a 17 and 14 year old. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious. It was particularly good to have a roof top terrace with sun beds and table and chairs. The Old Village was a lovely development and we were within 100m or so of most of the restaurants and bars on the site as well as the well stocked supermarket. The main pool was family friendly with a choice of sunbeds to hire or areas of grass on which to put towels. The staff at Alternativas (managing agents) were friendly and helpful and managed to sort out any minor problems very quickly. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable and restful holiday. "

"This has been the 2nd time my wife & I have spent 8 nights at this town house, and it definately will not be the last. A perfect location at a perfect complex. The 8 days of glorious April sunshine helped too. The staff at the multialternativas booking office were great, we did not arrive while the Saturday evening, but a quick phone call to the number on the office window, and a lady arrived with our keys within 5 minutes. They were great too at the end of our stay, we were not flying home until 7p.m. but were allowed to keep the house on at no extra cost, until we left. They even arranged our return taxi for us. All the amenities at the house are in as new condition and the place has a cool pleasant feel about it. The roof top terrace is a great place to spend some private time. "

"What a gem! The apartment was in a superb location, the complex is simply stunning. The staff were unbelievably helpful and friendly and were waiting for us when we arrived at almost midnight. They couldnt do enough to ensure our stay was as pleasurable as possible. The apartment was extremely well equipped with a superb range of english satelite channels. Yes the stairs are a challenge and the apartment could possibly do with updating but we had a fabulous time and would definately book again. Totally loved the old village"

"We really enjoyed our stay in the Old Village and the property was excellant value for money, the only downside was there was no bath (I think perhaps this should be mentioned in the property details). The sun terrance was great and the property had everything we needed. The Old Village is a great place to stay, supetmarket, bars and resturants on site but if you whan to walk to the marina it only takes 20 mins and the taxi back was only 3.80 euros and less than 5 euros after midnight. We have been going to Vilamoura for the past 10 years and this was the second time we have been to the Old Village and we will be going there again."

"Property was quite basic but had all that we required. The location is very good and the old village area is a delightful location, beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. The directions from Faro airport to the complex were somewhat misleading and I would advise anyone travelling for the first time to access better information (eg. AA or similar). Overall the apartment offered great value and I would have no hesitation in recommending it, so long as you are mobile enough to manage the steps."

"We were extremely impressed with this property and its location. The property was in extremely good condition and well equipped. It was actually much nicer than than indicated by the photos on the site. The sun terrace was an added bonus. The Old Village itself was also well looked after and the facilities were excellent . We would definately like to return."

"Excellent location, with stunning views from the terrace. The property was very comfortable - apart from the beds. The beds seriously need replacing as you can feel the springs digging into you as you try to sleep. One of them squeaked so much, just by sitting on it. Because of the lack of sleep, I feel like I need another holiday. Apart from this the property was very adequate. I would contemplate staying here again, but only if the beds were changed. "

"the apartment was generally clean and extremely well equipped particularly the kitchen. it was nice that there was a microwave, cooker, sky tv, most of the Uk tv channels and an excellent roof terrace. the shower was particularly good and there was a toilet on the 2nd floor so we did not have to go to the 3rd floor shower room if we were in the sitting room and we needed to use the toilet. the old village estate was very quiet (1st week in june) and the pool facilities were excellent. one criticism was that there was no air conditioning and the bedrooms got stifling hot but the flat came equipped with portable fans which helped a lot. the floor behind the table and the settees was very dusty and had not been cleaned in a couple of months. the roof terrace was great and relaxing to use early evening for a bottle of wine when the sun went down. all in all an excellent apartment in a good location 10-15min walk from the marine and we would recommend to others. nice too that there were no cars in the centre of the old village. service of alternativistas property agents on site was good too."

"Very pleasant location, clean and tidy appartment with all thats needed for a self catering holiday. The spirral stairs from the lounge to the first floor were a bit tight, suggest maybe worth mentioning for older people or young children. All in all a very good holiday and we will return soon!"

"This has been our 3rd visit to The Old Village Resort, but our first to this property, We have previously hired larger properties as there have been 6 of us, but because only my wife & I holidayed this time, we chose this 2 bedroomed townhouse. Value for money was excellent, and conbined with the cheap flights with Jet2.com, we managed to have 9 nights here for a total package of £215 each. The lounge area was quaint and cosey and gives a cottagey feel to it. The TV has satelite stations including all the UK's terrestrial channels and Sky Sports. There is a large library of books for the reader, from all the Harry Potter's through to autobiographies - I managed to get through John Peel's autobiography. There is also a games compendium, with Cards, Backgammon & Dominoes. There is also a few easy Jigsaws for the kids - Paddington, Thomas Tank etc. Everything was spotlessly clean upon arrival and the maid cleaned and changed the towels on 3 occassions during our stay. There is a clean and well stocked Kitchen, with Fridge/Freezer, Oven, Microwave, Toaster. Probably the best and most enjoyable part is the roof terrace which we used every day for taking breakfast then sunbathing. The privacy of your own space is fantastic. The Old Village Resort is excellent throughout and there are 6 bars & restaurants on site, which offer great food at reasonable prices. All of which are within 150 metres from this property, Pam & Martyn always give a great welcome at the Nautical Bar, We had meals at The Casa De Longa, The O' Cafe and The newly opened Zanzibar Restaurant, and would recommend all of them. Don't worry about it being too loud, it's just not like that! The local supermarket is about 30 metres from the property, and surprisingly for an onsite supermarket, it's prices were about as cheap as we found in the whole resort of Vilamoura. All in all, an excellent property, and one we will definately consider again. "

"We really enjoyed our stay here in March 08. We needed a relaxing break and the complex certainly gives you plenty options - 3 different pools, 3 or 4 bars and a 2 or 3 restaurants, all of good quality and different cuisines. The apartment itself is comfortable. For the self-caterer it's ideal. We particularly liked the sun terrace on the roof. Many thanks."

"THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT STAFF WERE POLITE AND VERY HELPFULL.THE DESCIPTION OF THE TOWN HOUSE WAS MORE THEN ACCURATE. ME AND MY HUSBAND ENJOYED THE SUN TERRACE AND MY LITTLE GIRL ENJOYED THE USE OF THE THREE POOLS.AS FOR EATING OUT WE HAD THE CHOICE OF FIVE GOOD EATING ESTABLISHMENTS ON SITE OR A SHORT TRIP TO VILLAMOURA MARINA WHERE THERE WAS PLENTY OF VARIETY.I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND AND HOPE TO GO BACK OURSELVES NEXT YEAR.AT SUCH A AFFORDABLE PRICE .YOU ARE GETTING GREAT VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY."

"The property location was excellent, couldnt complain at all. The propery itself, all good too. One possible downside, the bedrooms need air con really as the fans can be noisy but it wasnt a major problem. Overall, very good!!!"

Review submitted by Joanne from Seghill, Northumberland (Submitted: 18/06/2007)
"Property was better than expected. Unusually all the appliances worked (unlike some previous holidays). Small touches (like games, books etc) were an added bonus. We had a 7 year old who thought the whole complex was fantastic (couldn't get him out of the pools!). The agent was superb at booking transport to and from golf courses and airport. Altogether a brilliant holiday. Only sight downside was the beds - one family member was 6ft 3ins and the small single wasn't quite big enough - but the settee was perfectly large enough to let him sleep well. I could imagine the stairs would be a problem if there were mobility problems or very young children but we managed fine. Roof terrace was a definite bonus and a superb wind-down area at the end of some very busy days. Would certainly have no problem recommending town house to family or friends. Thanks"

"We stayed in this property on the Old Village for the first time although we have previously been to Vilamoura in a hotel. The property was excellent and had everything that you would need for a relaxing holiday. The Sun Terrace was in full sun all day and the bathroom has a sink, toilet and a shower, it is only a 10 minute walk to the Marina. In fact we liked it so much we have booked again for May, staying in the same property. Overall an excellent holiday and looking forward to the next, we could not fault this property in any way and would highly recommend it."

"We have visited the Old Village before and found this property to be as clean and well maintained as other properties we have stayed in. Enjoyed our stay."

Review submitted by Mary from Bannersman Maisonette (Submitted: 30/10/2006)
"The apartment was clean, daily maid service & towel change. There was all the equipment that you need for a self catering holiday. Sky television was a real bonus. Internally there are narrow stairs leading to the bedrooms and roof terrace, so not ideal for anyone with mobility problems or even young children. The apartment was well situated within the old village and the resort is close to the marina & beach."

Review submitted by Peter from Old Village, Vilamoura (Submitted: 10/10/2006)
"Spacious property with very good facilities. Bedroom furnishings could do with updating and floors needed a good clean, but other than that the property was in good condition. Very good satellite TV choice. Stairs narrow and steep inside the maisonette which could be a problem for some, yet I would recommend this property to anyone. Maid changed towels and made beds every couple of days. Wonderful location within the Old Village, 100 yards from the supermarket and a few bars/restaurants and from the Village Square. 200 yards from the main pool. Overall a quiet and relaxing modern maisonette with excellent facilities. Worth a visit."

Owner reply: :
During the winter 2006/2007, the bedrooms have been refurnished with everything being replaced. The house has been painted inside and out

"Great location just a 10-15 minute walk to Villamora. The old villiage is quite but has excellent facilities, 3 pools, 2 resturants, one of which I would highly recomend "The Princess Garden". Staff on the site were very helpful and the place and gardens were kept very well. Sky TV was an added benifit, great to keep the kids entertained after a long day by the pool."

Review submitted by Steve from Walsall (Submitted: 08/08/2006)
"Property and The Old Village itself exceeded our expectations. The Maisonette was spacious and had everything we needed and more. The roof terrace was a bonus and it was lovely to have a choice of pools and restraunts so close. Our Children aged 8 & 5 had a great time at the main pool which was clean and safe with a large shallow area for them to play in. The Old village is a wonderful resort, clean, tidy and very accommodating for families We spent the first two weeks of the children’s summer holiday at the Old Village and did not feel at any time that the village was too busy. We would have no hesitation recommending it and would probably return ourselves. The Marina is a 20 - 25 minute walk with young children but well worth it on an evening to enable you watch the world go by as you eat at one of the many restraunts to choose from. "

"This property was a well maintained property within a mature and well maintained development withy all the facilities required close at hand."

"Great Location, quiet but excellent base for Golf. Easy walk down to Marina area all amenities close to hand. Roof terrace was a nice bonus"

Review submitted by Denise from Barnsley (Submitted: 17/04/2006)
"The apartment had everything that we needed for our two week holiday. We loved the rooftop terrace, and spent quite a bit of time up there, watching the sunset or just relaxing. To have the towels and bedding changed so regularly was also a bonus. The Old Village was a magical place to stay, which we and our children enjoyed very much. We found all the facilities of Vilamoura to be within easy walking distance (even for a 6-year old), but even if you chose to stay on-site there was sufficient choice in terms of eating, swimming and the playground to keep us occupied."

"The property is situated in the lovely old village, it is very quiet and a perfect location for a relaxing holiday. The marina area is a 15-20min walk, where you will find a range of resturants covering a range of pockets. Th appartment was clean and had everything you needed. The roof terrace gives a lovely area to sit and soak up the sun while being cooled bu the breeze. Overall the appartment was great. The old village has resterant and bars which offer friendly service. The pools were clean and well maintained but could get busy (we were there in August) I expect we will return to the old village in the future."

"Our stay at the Old Village more than exceeded our expectations. The location is well placed for a very relaxing holiday. 10 minutes walk to Vilamoura's cosmopolitan Marina (or a few minutes ride on the Tourist Train / 5 mins in a taxi). With many good restaurants, bars and a well stocked supermarket on site. The complex is also child friendly with a lovely clean family swimming pool. The Maisonette was clean and comfortably furnished with the facilities more than adequate for what was required for our stay. We made good use of the roof-top sun terrace and really enjoyed the lovely breeze. For Golfers this is an excellent location for a golfing break. The village is sited within the boundaries of the Pinhal Golf Course, and within 2/3 miles of at least 3 other courses. It is also only a short drive to the more upmarket golf courses of Vale do Lobo and Quinta da Lago. Finally, one of the best parts of the holiday was the food. Superb. We would strongly recommend any visitors to go "off the beaten track" and find some of the more traditional Portugese restaurants. We found one in particular La Cabana, in the backstreets of Quarteria - recommended by Pam & Martyn at the Bar Nautico. We will definitely be coming back to The Old Village at some point in the future."

"The property is ideally located in the Old Village complex and was a good base for us on our golfing week. We were only a 15minute walk from the marina with it's restaurants and bars and Ana from Alternativas (on site) sorted all our taxi requirements for the week's golf. The property itself was comfortable and provided all we needed and has a fantastic roof terrace where we managed to catch some rays!"
