Just returned this morning from this gorgeous villa. It is very spacious even with six people staying in it there was lots of room. It is very well maintained and everything has been thought of in the kitchen. The swimming pool is a lovely size, filters etc are all timed to come on and off. Almaverde itself is in a lovely setting (a car is definitely needed though). Just across from Almaverde is the lovely little bay of Burgau its just beautiful. Would recommend this villa most definitely.

The villa was very well maintained.
It was very clean and tidy on arrival and was cleaned once during our 2 week stay.
the gardens were lovely and again well maintained along with the swimming pool.
A car is necessary in the location. The develpoment is not finished. There is a reception to book the tennis courts and there is Wi Fi access in office hours. There is a small dance studio which offers yoga and zumba classes and a wellness centre for beauty treatments.
It is a quiet location.

We had a fantastic 10 days in this beautiful, well appointed villa, (only a full length mirror was missing for those vain ones amongst us, LOL). Even the weather exceeded our expectations. We couldnt have been more comfortable and the local beach at Burgau was heaven. We would definately recommend this property to anyone seeking a haven away from it all.
The only thing I will say to prospective renters is that a car is essential unless you are very keen walkers.

We had a great 2 wk holiday, in June 2009. On arrival we were surprised to find a welcome pack which was well received!
The villa has a good space inside and out, well equipped, the cleaning was maintained during our visiting. Good size pool with inflatibles available to use.
Excellant location and views across the hills from the top floor.
We would love to return!

Just returned from a wonderful sunny and relaxing week at this villa. It was even more impressive than the photos suggest. Both the house and pool were very clean on arrival and both were cleaned again during our stay. The welcome pack which greeted us was unexpected and very much appreciated!
The villa was so quiet and relaxing, exactly what we were looking for. We definetly planning to return next year!

Our 2nd visit to 174 Almaverde, and now that most of the surrounding building work is complete, we had a wonderful time...much quieter than last time, it seemed deserted on the complex which suited us perfectly!
Such a great spot to relax & unwind in with everything you need close by!

This is a really lovely property, a delight to walk into . Although late in the season we had asked for the pool to be heated ,it was, and so were able to swim. We will definately book again .

We have just returned from 2 blissful weeks at Almaverde villa 174 ,the villa is beautiful & we had a wonderful time ,lovely fitted kitchen fully equipped & plenty of space for the 2 of us .Unfortunately there are a few negatives !Be warned there is lots of building going on so plenty of noise during the day if you like lounging by the pool like we did,the pool is lovely but due to lots of trees & bushes & very strong winds it became very dirty & was not cleaned regularly ,also after paying for the pool to be heated we realised after 3 days that it was not & had to call pool man to come & put it on.Dont like to be negative but when you save hard for a holiday you expect high standards .

We had a fantastic time and the property was clean, spacious and well maintained. We were impressed with the midweek clean as we did not expect this for a one week holiday. The only slight disappointment was the fact the viila is overlooked by one property and it happened to be the only other close property occupied during our stay at the end of August. This could be addressed quite simply by fencing or better tree planting. All in all we thought the villa was well equipped and this area of the Algarve outstanding. We would certainly recommend Almaverde to our friends and family.
If you stay here and have a late flight back we suggest you try visiting Slide + Splash as our children had a a brilliant time.

A very beautiful Villa, very clean and well equipped.
Upon arrival it was a pleasure to see a Grocery welcome package which was unexpected but very much appreciated.
As a minor point, it would have been helpful if there were a booklet with villa/location information, ie disposal of rubbish.
When the garden is more well established, it will certainly be private at the pool area, however at present there is little privacy if other villas are occupied. That said this is a beautiful villa and future visitors will certainly not be disappointed.

An excellent villa! Very well equipped, clean, well furnished, quiet and well situated within a short drive to a variety of beaches. The building work continued but there was very little noise and we certainly were not disturbed by it. Great play area for younger children. We requested the pool heating and were pleased as the children spent a lot of time in it even though the weather wasn't glorious. Satellite TV was appreciated as was the BBQ and good quality outdoor furniture.
We all enjoyed our stay.

The villa and the holiday were excellent! The villa was very clean, comfortable and spacious, and local shopping and restaurants were only a short drive away. We opted for the pool heating as it was a February holiday, and the children were in the pool for hours every day! On the sunny days the temperature was up to 22C and so we spent time outside the villa and on the beach, and there was always plenty to keep us entertained on the other day. We will be going back soon!

Property was superb, all previous reports of building work should be ignored now as any building work close to the property has finished. The villa was extremely spacious & equiped without fault - to a very hagh standard. We arrived very late in the evening & was greeted by a warm, heated villa & a fridge full of basic provisions including beer & wine - faultless !! A car is required if you stay here, but it's only 15 mins to Lagos where the is all the life you need.
Book wih confidence, we paid the extra for the pool heating & as we went in late March it was well worth the cost - just the right temperature & warm for our arrival, kids loved it.
We will be definately booking again !!

This is a beautiful modern villa finished to an extremely high standard. We loved cooking in the big kitchen with the patio doors open looking onto the pool.
It is easy to get to from Faro but with a more rural feel. It is in a large complex but only slightly over looked by a couple of villas was not a problem and will become more private as the shrubbery grows. We were there in low season and all the villas around us were empty.
We made the most of the facilities and went for a few games of tennis on site.
The nearest beach is fantastic - in a kid of cove with yellow sand and clear blue sea. Every time we were there we were almost alone.
Overall, a great villa close to local amenities but peaceful with a large private pool.
Furthermore the owner is very helpful and replies to emails promptly.

The villa is beautiful, its well designed and furnished. The surrounding area and beaches are worth exploring so a car is essential, Burgau is a small village but has lots of places to eat. The villa itself was very comfortable to stay in and the the children enjoyed the pool very much. There was some building work at the time of our stay but all in all this didn't spoil our holiday and is completed now. We are returning next year as we loved the area and the villa, so would highly recommend a stay at Almerverde.

Loved the villa. Modern and well equipped. Fantastic kitchen, my wife absolutely loved it ! I would suggest putting a picture of it on the website as it is a good selling point. Unfortunately the dishwasher did not work and had to be taken away to be repaired, so washing up was a chore. We did have it back for the last two days (Lisa thanks for your help with this).
The pool was also great (we paid to have it heated) and swam everyday. Most nights we ate in using the barbecue. The flat screen TV was also a bonus, especially with the rugby world cup on ! There was some building work going on in the distance, but this did not affect our holiday.
A welcome pack would have been helpful, as an example I did not realise the villa had a safe until the last day. The only reason we would not go back, is that in future we would prefer to be within walking distance of restaurants and beaches.

The quality of finish within this property was exceptional, it is very contemporary and well equipped.
The pool is lovely and was just about warm enough without heating in August. Of course if you have young children they will need supervision however our three year old spent so much time in the pool he did not need bouyancy aids by the end of the week.
All the surrounding villas are finished though there is still building work taking place at a distance, but not to an extent that it worried us.
The local beach is 5 minutes drive and does not get too busy. The restaurants in the village are welcoming and the food is of a very good standard.
Once the SPA and Health centre is finished this will be an excellent all year round propersition, we will definitely be returning.

Beautiful, spacious and well equiped villa in lovely location. However, although we anticipated some building noise, when we stayed in July, the neighbouring garden ( approx 10' from our pool ) was being excavated by a JCB resulting in 'everything' being covered in a layer of thick red dust. Simultaneously the pool in the next villa was being tiled, more noise from the tile cutter and more dust !!
Although this didn't ruin our holiday, we were forced to spend more time away from the villa than we had anticipated. We would return but only when the nearby building work is complete.

FABULOUS VILLA, VERY WELL EQUIPPED.
OUR CHILDREN ESPECIALLY ENJOYED SWIMMING IN THE POOL AT NIGHT WITH THE POOL LIGHTS ON !
GREAT LOCATION FOR EXPLORING THE WESTERN ALGARVE, LOTS OF EXCELLENT BEACHES AND RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA A SHORT DRIVE AWAY.
WE WILL BE GOING BACK AND HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED THE VILLA TO FRIENDS.
Review submitted by Nina from UK (Submitted: 10 Mar 2007)
We had been advised that there was some building work 'in the area' as this was a new development and was reflected in the discounted price. We did question whether this was close to the property but unfortunately had no response.
Upon arrival, we were more than pleased with the property itself and found it to be of an excellent standard in all aspects.
Unfortunately the 'building work' was going on within 5 feet of the back garden as it was actually a neighbouring property. This would not have been too much of a problem had the builders not started at 7am every morning including weekends, and been using the noisiest electrical drills, saws and other equipment all day long until 7pm at night!
Not exactly the most relaxing holiday and it really was a shame that we had not been advised of the close proximity of the building work.
Once the development has finished however, I really would not hesitate to recommend it, as could be a wonderful holiday location and is a beautiful property to spend your time in Portugal!
Owner reply:
We are very concerned whenever somebody is even the slightest bit disappointed with their stay in any of our properties. In this instance we were not made fully aware by the developer of the disturbance that was experienced during that week in October 2006, and it was very unfortunate that this work coincided with Nina's stay. Across the whole development there have been very few instances where noise has disturbed visitors.
All the major building work was completed on the neighbouring villas in 2006, so although the buildings are still to be completed the work is mainly much quieter and internal as the villas are rendered, plastered, and landscaped. All this work is due to be completed by mid-2007.
Please be assured we try to do everything we can to make everyone's stay as pleasant as possible.
Best regards
Greg & Kit Rapson

This was an excellent villa which we got at a very reasonable price in October. This was probably due to the time of year and the fact that there was building works going on. However neither of these factors affected our stay at all.
The villa was very well fitted out, both for adults and children. The only problem for us was the fact that we had a young child and the pool was not guarded - so we could not let him out to roam freely. This restricted us a bit when we were staying around the villa.
Other than that I would most definately recommend it to anyone and we would return again for another holiday no question.

The villa is absolutely top drawer! - it's just so bright and airy, and very tastefully furnished. I particularly liked being able to open the double patio doors that opened onto the garden / pool. It was lovely to sit around the meal table, chatting away into the late evening and looking out through the patio doors with the pool lights on. With a wife and two daughters it was such a godsend that every bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom. To sit out on the bedroom balcony with a coffee and take in the morning sun was just heaven!
The private pool got so much use. It was great to sit out on the patio and take in the lovely landscaping before taking another dip to cool off a bit! There's even a BBQ which got quite a lot of use.
It's only a few minutes drive from Burgau, this delightful little fishing village was just the icing on the cake! Relatively unspoilt by tourism, it has a lovely sandy beach and friendly places to eat fresh sea food and of course chicken piri piri; and those lovely narrow little meandering streets, lined with the distinctive traditional whitewashed walls and terracotta roofs, too narrow for cars.
I can't recommend it enough - we've only been back a week and we're already planning our return!!

Brand new villa finshed to an extremely high standard and well fitted out. Part of a new development a lot of which is still under construction but little or no disturbance from building works. Very close to beach and supermarket. Ate all our meals outside using the BBQ. Would recommend. Lots to do and visit within a very short distance.
Review submitted by Joanne from Almaverde Village, Burgau, Portugal (Submitted: 23 Jul 2006)
Myself and my partner had a wonderful stay in Almaverde. The villa was newly built, clean and furnished to an exceptionally high standard. It also contained all essential items required for a self-catering holiday. Everything had been thought of. The pool and garden were amazing. Although the village is still undergoing development this did not cause us any problems. The staff at the administration office were extremely helpful. Almaverde is in a great location for visiting the surrounding villages but a car is essential. We would be very happy to recommend this villa to others.
