Property and local area description
Quiet Location, But Close To Town If You Want To Party Or Be A Beach Bum.
Arraial d’ Ajuda is an idyllic small town with a relaxed and colourful holiday atmosphere. Arraial is situated on the tip of a peninsula, accessible by car or the local ferry [much preferred by the locals] from nearby Porto Seguro this runs every fifteen minutes in high season and approximately every half hour or hour in low season, virtually day and night. The surrounding sights from the water are spectacular and well worth the short trip. There are regular buses to and from the ferry to the town centre.
The holiday condominium consists of three, small villas, each with three bedrooms, two double bedrooms and a single with bunk beds, downstairs in two of the villas there is a kitchen/diner and separate living area, the third is open plan but more spacious overall. All have shared car parking space and on the other side is a private outside patio for each villa.
This is located within a small residential area of larger houses, less than 10 minutes walking distance from the local town centre, however, I recommend a car because of the heat in high season. These can be hired yourself locally, or we can do that for you. Once in the centre there are the usual holiday shops, tropical bars and cafes with many smarter eating places and shops of all kinds to browse. There are also many food shops, including a fair sized supermarket. as well as the town square where many stalls regularly set up and sell all sorts of arts, crafts and foods, many manned by the original 70's hippies who say they discovered the place way back. The streets are pleasant places to walk, most with cobble stone surfaces or a local white tessellated marble.wherever you go, the people will serve you in the traditional open and friendly Bahian way.
For amusement on Arraial De Juda there are many beautiful beaches, the largest with waiter service , so you can relax and take the sun. the prices for food and drink are reasonable, and the food good, the service fast and friendly. There is one of the oldest churches on the hill, whilst towards the port is an Eco Water Park has chutes, rides and holds musical events. within the centre , there are regular music or dancing venues and night clubs. The Brasilians take any opportunity to hold fiestas parties or dancing.
The larger town of Porto Seguro is certainly worthwhile visiting. This “Safe Haven” is the first place where there Portuguese came ashore in the 1500. Here you can visit for example the historic part of the city or the first Christian church in Brazil. Reliable travel agents, speak most of the European languages, they can offer you other options for site-seeing as well and you can choose from a wide variety of excursions. A short example of the various options are given below:
* Visit to the Indian reservation Jaqueira (Pataxó Indians)
* Scuba diving on the “Recife de Fora”
* Tour to the historic village of Trancoso
* Visit to the Ecological Park in South Bahia
* Reservation Estaço Vera Cruz, a real tropical Eco-tour
* Ilha dos Piratos (night of “Pirat” entertainment)
* Various diving courses, Discover Scuba, Paddy-certificate (7-8 days), or the CMAS (3-4 days)
* Diving trip to one of the various coral rives a few hundred meters from the coast
(always convenient water temperatures, great maritime diversity)
Arraial D’Ajuda, lies on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in southern Bahia. Discovered by hippies in the early 70s, a post-Woodstock generation that traveled the world and found in Arraial an alternative way of living with new values. some of these original settlers are now the owners of the friendly, rustic inns that are so common in town, many of which were built as extensions of their own homes or on the beach.
The streets of the town are safe and pleasant to walk, within a short time you will know its secret places and feel at home, eating either of the local dishes or from more international menus. you can enjoy the town’s carefree ambiance, or its sandy beaches. It’s as easy to find a Japanese sushi as it is to taste one of Bahia’s famous seafood stews known as moquecas.
A pedestrian district known as “Broadway” is a must in Arraial with its many bars and restaurants where tables are set up right on the sidewalk. The variety of foods available is almost as great as the variety of music, overall, it is a tropical paradise. The daily routine in Arraial is relaxed, most business close for the usual siesta, shops open again in the afternoon and close at about midnight. People dress very informally and it’s considered completely normal to go shopping in a bikini or even go out to a nightclub in swimwear, although many people like to dress up in the nightclubs.
Lunch can be long, as can dinner, and just when you think the town is settling down for the night, the festivities are just beginning with luaus on the beach and dancing until the early hours of the morning. With an all round the year temperature 25 + Arraial d'Ajuda ( and Porto Seguro) make it an ideal location to escape to at any time you feel like a break, most people who visit can imagine staying on only too easily. Come, relax and enjoy a rest or a party amongst some of the happiest people and most spectacular scenery.
