All 7 of us really enjoyed staying at the villa. The kitchen is fully equipped. We spent most our time in the backyard. We used the barbecue for most of our meals. The location is great. We definitely recommend staying at Villa Citola. So comfortable it feels like home away from home.

We loved this villa! Its spacious, beautifully designed and ideally located. We got to see some green monkeys in the field next door which is the first time any of us have seen them in the wild. Everything is as described and shown in the photos. The house was clean and even though I never met Kathleen (the cleaner) we spoke on the phone and she seemed very nice. The only thing was theres no tv and the kids were looking forward to watching the barbados cartoons and it would have been nice to catch the news from back home. We would stay here again and recommend it to everyone. Thanks Bill x

The villa is exactly as described and depicted in the photos. The villa is perfectly located between Oistins and the Gap (and Bridgetown). There is a bus stop right at the end of the street so that was very convenient. I liked that the villa was located at the end of a cul-de-sac, which made it very private. On 3 occasions we were visited by a family of green monkeys which my kids loved. The fruit trees on the premise were amazing. The furniture was comfortable. The aC worked very well and was only required at night since there was a wonderful breeze all day. The kitchen was fully-equipped with any possible utensil you could need. The gas bar-b-que was a very nice touch since we used it every night. My dealings with the owner were very professional and honest. I would definitely recommend Villa Citola to anyone looking for a nice place that is reasonably priced.

We were very pleased with our stay in Villa Citola, which is clean and spacious, with a shaded back patio where you can watch a the wildlife: monkeys occasionally, but always a cow and a white crane (constant companions in the field next door), geckos on the wall opposite, green parrots in the television antenna, giant snails in the grass, and four neighbourhood kittens.
The location pretty well mandates renting a car right away, since stores, including grocery, are too far away the walking on the busy, main, often sidewalk-less road is hazardous at best and you wouldnt want to be lugging several bags of start-up groceries on the hot and crowded public transport. Even walking to the beach is not the greatest its ok before your swim, but afterward youll just get hot and sweaty again.
The only downside, I would say, is that there is no one at all to greet you and give you handy tips, not on the house which is pretty much self-explanatory, but on getting started, as above. We arrived on a Sunday, not realizing grocery stores were shut, and the telephone (re getting a car) was neither charged up nor with money in the account. The telephone program as such is not easy to master unless you happen to own this type. We were really floundering for the first 24 hours, until saved by the kindness of neighbours. A simple visit from a representative of the owner could have prevented all this, and is the norm in other villa rentals we have made.
Nevertheless, it is a fine place, reasonably priced, and Barbados and its people are wonderful. We would gladly repeat the whole experience.

"A very pleasurable and relaxing getaway."
My husband and I enjoyed a 2 week vacation at the Citola Villa in Barbados with great friends. The villa has everything you can possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It is well maintained and great for a family vacation. The weather was great. The villa is in a good location to beach, shopping and just about everything you can imagine. Nice restaurants nearby. In order to see the sights I would recommend renting a car and touring the island at your own pace. Lots to see and do.

"We stayed at Villa Citola in Christchurch for a week in March 2011 and had
a terrific time. The location is indeed very convenient with St. Lawrence
Gap, Oisitns and a number of beaches nearby. Depending on the length of your
stay we would recommend renting a car as it is a great way to explore the
island (which truly has a lot to offer).
The villa was spotless when we got there and everything was as advertised.
Whats more, the owner gave us plenty of advice on a variety of topics
before we even left New York. We took advantage of the fully equipped
kitchen by shopping at the local grocery store and cooking at the villa.
Which is especially helpful if your vacationing with small kids.
All in all, it was a great experience and we would recommend both Barbados
and Villa Citola to anyone looking for a fun and authentic experience in
that part of the world"

My husband and I vacationed over the Christmas holidays in Barbados with friends, and we were very fortunate to have found the Villa Citola for our accomodations. Where to start.... the villa is in a perfect location on the island, mere minutes walk to beautiful beaches and a variety of restaurants and nightlife. We opted to rent a car which gave us touring options at our leisure. Buses are also easily accessible and can take you to all parts of the island. The villa itself is spacious, comfortable and very clean, with all modern amnenities geared towards making your stay just perfect. The air-conditioning in the bedrooms is an added luxury after spending days touring or relaxing in the sun. The kitchen is fully-stocked with everything you need to cook your own meals - all you need are the groceries! Evenings on the covered patio were spent enjoying great company and warm breezes. We highly recommend the Villa Citola as the perfect place to stay and enjoy your trip to Barbados. We cant wait to return later this year!

When we first holidayed in Barbados, we stayed in a hotel. This time, we rented Villa Citola and were so glad we did! Large, airy bedrooms, along with multiple bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen made our stay very enjoyable. Staying in a house afforded us the opportunity to decide when to go out and when to stay in for meals. In fact, we felt so comfortable in our new digs that we hosted an impromptu dinner party one night for some of our new friends fellow tourists who really appreciated the chance to get together in a homey atmosphere for an evening of food, fun, and storytelling! The house also served as a conveniently located home base for our many day trips, beach outings, and evenings partying at The Gap or Oistins...all of these plans hatched over early-morning coffee or late-night drinks while
gathered around the table on the back patio. Would we rent Villa Citola again? Absolutely! In fact, weve already reserved it for another two weeks later this year!!

I just returned from 2 weeks in the most beautiful spot on earth, the Barbados. It
was a girls only trip (and I use the term girls loosely as we are all mature women
50 & over).We
stayed at one of the islands many villas for rent as we wanted the freedom to cook
some of our meals, invite friends over, and have a true home base for our adventures.
We found #5 Maxwell, or as it is known here, VILLA CITOLA when we went on line to
investigate possible rentals.(www.maxwellvillabarbados.com) IT is a 4 bedroom,3
bath, town home
only 4 years old in a very accessible location for the airport, shopping,
restaurants, and maybe just a little partying!
The villa comes ready to go with fresh linens, full kitchen, living room, dining room
and a great covered patio for sitting and planning your daily adventures. The beach
is a mere
4 minute walk or you can access any of the endless beaches on island with a quick
car ride. Also, the bus stops right at the top of the street (4 houses away) and the
taxi
service is both helpful and efficient.
I cannot tell you how friendly and cheerful the local population is ,and very happy
to share a tale with you, or listen to one of yours..
To put it in a nutshell, we all 5 of us had a great time and I for one have already
bought my tickets to return to this little
piece of heaven and GREAT villa with my husband and friends in February. Hope to see
you there.
