Just returned from a lovely week at the cottage with my partner and two children - a wonderful place to stay, right out in the country with a homey feel and large garden. Tony is a really friendly and helpful host - would recommend to anyone!

This cottage is small but has all the ameneties you could need and provides comfortable accommodation for 4 people. It is an old building but the appliances eg. shower, cooker, dishwasher, washing machince etc. are modern and in good working order. It is lovely that it is in the countryside but just a 5min drive from the main road that gives easy access to the whole of East Cork, and from Youghal which has all the ameneties of a small town and has glorious, safe, clean beaches. The cottage has some nice touches like the local pottery dinner service, but on the whole is adequately comfortable rather than luxurious, although is slightly more spacious than the photos would suggest. It is great value for money and because of that we would definately stay here again and recommend it to friends. As everyone mentions - Tony is great and very helpful.

Great location for seeing this part of Ireland. The Cottage is in a very peaceful setting, with a fine expanse of garden to the rear overlooking the surrounding farm land. Great beaches all around this area & good shopping in Youghal for supplies, you have the essential ingredients for great break within easy reach. The inside of the cottage is basic but adequate. It has a certain character & charm in its simplicity. The only fault if pushed, would be to suggest it could do with a de-clutter in the various storage areas. Last words must be a mention of Tony, do have a chat on places to eat etc.

The cottage has everything you need and the caretaker Tony is a lovely man, who is very friendly and is full of very helpful information about for what to do in the area. The cottage is only five minutes outside of Youghal (by car) but still feels like your in the middle of nowhere, which is relaxing and peaceful. Great place to stay - highly reccomended. You will not find a better value cottage with everything you need and more in Ireland.

Although it was dark when we arrived, I rang Tony and he gave us precise directions. The cottage was warm and cosy, very good with all amenities. The cottage was well positioned and the road to Cork was excellent. The people we met along the way were very friendly. It was good to re-visit Youghal and walk along the Town Walls. The Visitors book provided extra information which was good. A most enjoyable holiday was had by all of us. We would recommend this cottage to anyone. Thank you.

This is a great base for travelling around, particularly the eastern side of County Cork and County Waterford. The facilities are great, its a compact little cottage with all you need, including a dishwasher. There is no bath but a great shower. If you have a small baby you could however use the Belfast sink to bath them if you feel like stepping back in time. If you are hoping to see western cork and Kerry it could make for long days travelling a more central location would be better. We had a great time and explored the area thoroughly.

We enjoyed our stay in Arnotts Cottage very much. There was four of us staying there for one week. The cottage has everything you need. It is a beautiful quaint cottage in a rural area, but close enough to Youghal. We found "The Thatch Pub", served excellent food and it is great value. we visited Cork City Gaol ,interesting history, Fota Wildlife Park, Blarney Castle, Jameson Distillery, Leahys Open Farm, (for Aidan) and drove to Limerick to visit Thomond Park Rugby Stadium , Aisling is a big Munster fan (strange). Also I would like to say a big thank you to Tony the Caretaker for the lovely welcome. Overall the cottage is a great place to stay and excellent value.

The cottage was very quaint. It meet my needs, but a lot smaller than I thought. Tony was a great host, very helpful, kind and genuine nice guy. The cottage had all that I need for a quite relaxing vacation. Perfect except for tiny things (see below). Owner: Directions to the cottage need to be updat ed. The restaurant is no longer called Gazebos It is GREEN BARN. Also, if there where clear instructions listed in the cottage as how to turn on heaters, hot water, electricity, location of laundry room, etc would be helpful. Future Guest: The radio did not pick up many stations so bring your Cds. And there are only 2 channels on the TV, so dont plan on watching to much TV. Dryer has a bin that fills with water, empty it often, helps A LOT with clothe drying. :) Some tips are handy in guest book, skim through it if you can. Besides those few minor things my stay was perfect! Thank you, I hope to book again real soon.

My wife and I enjoyed our recent stay at the cottage. It still retains the quaint charm of a traditional labourers cottage (right down to the half-door) while having essential features, such as oil-fired central heating, dishwasher, washer & dryer, and power shower. In particular, we enjoyed the wonderful fireplace, comfortable beds, and proximity to Youghal. The deck out the back would be wonderful during the summer. We would recommend the cottage for groups of 2-6.

The cottage was very nice and had everything on-hand to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. It was in a nice location but one would need a car to get anywhere, not within walking distance to any amenities. It didnt bother us one bit, in fact it was very nice to be away from everything and everyone. Youghal is an absolutely beautiful town and has everything you would need to amuse children and enjoy yourself. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage is very quaint but would benefit from some home comforts being added. The linen is old and tired. The newly fitted cooker only had 2 rings working, no grill or oven. Should have been tested before we arrived. The heating was not working when we arrived. The caretaker told us that equipment outside had been re-located to accommodate building a patio, he got it working. The next day he came to see us and we said the heating had been on all day to which he said we could not do this as we would burn something out. We turned it off next day when going out and tried to turn it on again on returning, it was not working again. The caretaker got it going. This could all have been avoided if the heating had been tested before we arrived. The day before we were due to leave the caretaker asked us what time we were vacating the property. We said 1130am, he asked us to leave at 1015am as the cleaners were coming in. We ended up going at 1030am. NO CLEANERS IN SIGHT !!!!!!! Unhappy to have paid good money for the poor standard & service. Would not recommend to anyone I know, better places to stay.

This is an over 200 year old cottage. It is very cozy and quaint with hardwood. It does not have a telephone but does have good cell reception and you can sign up for wireless internet through Eircom at the airport and it should work fine. Tony who looks after the cottage is just a couple of doors down and more than willing to answer any questions you might have or provide you with suggestions on places to go, eat ect. We completely enjoyed our time, and the cottage is wonderful. It is very small and cozy but felt like home away from home. We cant wait to go back!

very nice accommodations...we wanted to experience "Ireland", and thats what we got...tasteful and quaint...diminutive open kitchen / living area...wood/peat/coal burning stove...very comfortable beds in the three bedrooms...on a back road in farm country, yet 10 minutes to Youghal, for restaurants, supplies and groceries...Mr. Tony Fitzgerald, the caretaker, is delightful and an excellent resource for any questions you might have about your stay in Ireland...make sure you ask him for directions to the beach down the road...we had a great time...

myself and husband and our 2 young sons stayed here for a week in august 2007 and had a great time, the cottage is comfy and homely and well equipped. we loved the `big` field at the back of the house where the kids could run wild and play and be perfectly safe, we went up to the top of the field every evening to watch the rabbits. it is so peaceful in and around the cottage, it was better than we expected and hopefully we will definitely return again sometime.

A lovely little cottage in a quiet area; the description on the website is accurate and our family of 4 enjoyed it. The only criticism I have is that the directions on how to get there are not quite accurate or detailed enough.

Owner reply:
I have modified the directions after discussion with this visitor; I hope that they are now clearer.
