Notes
  • Villa Dundar has the most outstanding views of KAS, yet it is very peaceful and relaxing. Sitting on the balcony watching the boats coming and going with a cold drink FANTASTIC ! Having a swim in the pool to cool down and taking in the views especially at night with the lights of KAS in the distance, it is something always to remember.

We stayed for 7 days in April. The season had just kicked off so about 50% of things we open. The house was fine with great views, wifi, clean and met our needs. A good 30 minute walk into town and a taxi ride home. This time of the year there were only 3 buses a day so you had to work with that. Plenty of places to eat and nice food at a very cheap rate. We must recommend Ratatouille in the main square and the Small House in Kalkan.

Probably the best views we have ever had on holiday! The terrace, which is shaded most of the day, gives you breathtaking views of Kas and of the mountains. 2 bedroomed, 2 shower roomed property on 2nd floor of owners villa. Large fridge, two gas rings, kettle and very importantly a water cooler with giant bottles to buy from the owner, one bottle 5 lira, lasted our whole stay and saved lugging water from town. All villas should have one of these!! Air con in bedrooms and free wifi. The rear balcony is in sun most of the day but would be useful in the cooler months. We had the pool to ourselves until the last night of our stay. Its a 15 minute walk downhill to Pebble Beach with its 4 or 5 bar/ restaurants. We spent most days on the beach rather than the pool. Its a 30 mins walk up and downhill to town. Local minibuses run between town and the main road near the villa every hour and cost 3.50 lira for the two of us one way. The buses stop early evening so we got a taxi back a few times for 15 lira door to door. We loved Kas, been here before 7 years ago. Villa very nicely located to visit Kas only beach and the town. Unless you want to tour the area you dont need a hire car. Our only negative experiences were the 3hr transfer taxis from Antalya which was truly terrifying on the way there and only marginally better on the return trip. High speed chases in and out of traffic! Next time I would try to secure one of the buses we saw on the way. The other negative was the completely empty fridge on our arrival at midnight after a long journey from the UK, we were told not to drink the water but obviously had no food or drink with us. All shopping has to be done in Kas. Having said that both these problems are easily overcome and the overall experience of the villa and Kas was excellent. We also need to thank the family for their support when my husband left his wallet with all our money and the villa key on the bus on the first day! Imagine getting that back in the UK - but we did in Turkey!

I fully endorse the comment from david from Oxford below. He is absolutely spot on. We too walked to Liman Agzi - an idylic place that can only be reached by foot or ferry. The apartment is a gem 20 minutes walk from the centre of Kas and 10 - 15 Lira if you want to take a cab. We went on a boat trip with Ergun which was also superb and the Ikbal Restaurant has to be visited. We will definitely visit again.

A peaceful apartment with a magnificent view Booking accommodation via the internet without a recommendation can leave you slightly nervous when you first arrive. We should not have worried! The top floor apartment has breathtaking views of Kas, the Cukurbag peninsula and the islands off the Kas coast. The balcony is spacious and has a BBQ as well as the worlds best placed hammock. The accommodation is far enough away from the town to be peaceful, yet close enough that you can get to the main town without difficulty by bus, taxi (both very economical) or on foot (about 2km). The pool, which is shared with just two other apartments is well kept and provides a refreshing break from the midsummer heat. If the pool is not enough Kas’s Buyuk Cakil (Big Pebble) Beach is only a couple of hundred yards down the road. If you feel more adventurous you can walk to one of the beaches at Liman Agzi. It took us about 45 minutes but the path is part of the Lycian way and the approach to Liman Agzi is beautiful. The family that own Villa Dundar could not have been more helpful during our stay. They arranged everything we needed the airport pickup, contact with a local taxi and regular deliveries of bottled water to the apartment. Ergun, a member of the family, runs one of the boats from the harbour and does an excellent trip (see Captain Ergun on Trip Advisor). We rarely visit the same place twice but would love to come back here.

It has been a great short break for us. We have stayed at the top floor which had amazing sea view. Erdem and his brother Ergun helped us a lot. They answered all our questions and supplied whatever we needed. We will definitely come back to Villa Dundar soon.

The property is located a little way out of town, which we considered to be a good thing, looking for a bit of peace and quiet as we were. There is a pebble beach nearby, within walkng distance that is quite adequate. There is also a 2-3 km walk through the fields along the Lycian Way to the next bay to the east. We had the top floor apartment which has amazing views to the west towards Kas and the peninsular. Being on the top floor gave us the advantage of any breeze which was always very welcome. The apartment is showing some signs of wear but in general is in good condition. Swimming pool is in very good condition and nicely located with plenty of shade. The owner is very nice and the whole family very approachable. All in all we spent a very enjoyable week there.

This was our second visit to Villa Dundar - this time staying in the top floor apartment. Everything about it was superb - great apartment and pool, delightful beach nearby, charming town, sensational views, friendly hosts. I will definitely be back again - its the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. See you next year!

This place is just great to come down, relax and forget all your stress! Not only the stunning view, but also the silence and "gemütlichkeit". The family is very nice and welcomed us with tea and biscuits. You feel at home but still have your privacy. The apartment is spacious, cosy and absolutely clean. And Kas itself is a beautiful, not too little and not too much touristy, little town. You just have to be aware that you dont live in the middle of the town here and its not a good way to walk. But that did not disturb us at all but rather supported our relaxation! Thanks a lot for a wonderful holiday!

This is not the first time we have been to Villa Dundar and it won't be the last. Our holidays here never cease to delight us. The views from the Villa take your breath away. Looking over the bay is truly a 'pinch me' moment! The pool and gardens are beautifully kept and a great place to chill. Our apartment was well equipped and the Villa is perfectly sited, with just a short walk to the best beach in Kas. Ada's restaurant on the beach always welcomes and serves great food, especially breakfast. Kas is a picturesque town and great for couples and families who want to avoid the party scene, The people are friendly and very hospitable. The restaurants are generally very good - we ate plenty of great-tasting fish - and there's a good variety to choose from. Finally a big thank you to Tevfik, Erdem and family. It was wonderful to see you once again and your hospitality was as always second to none. We'll see you again soon.

The little things were missed...2 half used rolls of toilet paper, no paper towels, dish soap, etc. No "welcome packet" w/a little coffee etc. Shower situation needs to be addressed(one bathroom had an unenclosed half shower and the other shower was scalding hot). A good shower after a day in and around salt water is essential. Views were incredible!! People seemed quite nice, but we didn't see much of them as they were gone much of the time. If you don't like or are not able to walk/hike then this isn't for you as it is a good mile into town up and down a dirt road. Parking in town is dicey and I assume much worse in high season. Ada Beach Resort, nearby, is a great place to unwind on the beach and eat and drink. Overall not bad, but showers and lack of essentials upon arrival(we got there around 9 pm)was most annoying. Did I mention the incredible views?!

Owner reply:
First of all I have to say, after many many good reviews, I was very disapointed with the two stars you have given for the little missing things.

Youd phoned my father while you were traveling from Istanbul to Kas with the rental car and he organized the cargo for your one of missing luggage from Istanbul Airport to Kas.
Next day of your arrival my mother went to town with you to take your luggage from the cargo office. I am explaining this because we were only one phone call away from you.
We would easly bring you new toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap and some coffee.

For hot water at the shower, there are cold water tab also. I dont know why you havent open it.

Thanks for mentioning incredible view.

We always advise to take a taxi from town to the villa and from villa to town for not spending your time while your holiday. (They charge 2-3 gbp only) or renting a car like you had while your stay is good idea.

Sometimes to get "incredible views" (as you have said) and to get rid of from the sound coming from the bars in the town you have to be at a place which is little outside from the center (you were walking two three times a day, I wonder why you complain because you had rental car.)

Also this year they are maintaining the road. That is the reason for dusty road.

All the harbour is a car park and there are always space for parking all over the year.

After all when we talked You have seemed very happy and you said you were satisfied.

thanks anyway

best regards

The property is well equiped in local turkey style combined with modern equipment ( refrigerator, TV, wireless PC, good signal for cell phones etc.). It has swimingpool big enough to swim. The position in town is excellent near to the biggest plage, but in quiet. The only disadvantage is the access with luggage, where the use of the macadam road is needed, and parking outside of the appartement.

From the moment we booked we have been made to feel very welcome by Erdem and his family. The villa is lovely and the view is stunning from the top floor apartment. The apartment was nice and spacious and equipped with everything we needed. I would have no hesitation in recommending this villa and look forward to staying there again.

The apartment was of a good size and had excellent facilities. We were well catered for and Erdem was only a phone call away and was happy to arrange any of our needs - taxi, dinner booking, etc. The views from the location were stunning and the beach was only ten minutes walk.

The villa is beutifully appointed, spacious and with stunning views towards nearby Kas, which is within walking distance. Early in the season we found the climate and location ideal - hot enough to sunbathe, but also pleasnat to travel to nearby sites of interest. Vegetation is still green and the flowers around the villa were beautiful. The owner is available with great information and advice, but resepectful of privacy. A wonderful Spring break!

Owner reply:
thank you very much for your wonderful comments about Villa Dundar and us. We would like to see you again in Kas one day.

The apartment was beautiful with a fantastic view over Kas and the sea. It was exceptionally clean and spacious. The swimming pool and grounds were exactly as described. The only slight concern was the fact that the apartment was a little further out of Kas than expected and there are no shops nearby at all but Erdem took us to the supermarket when we arrived and whenever possible gave us lifts into Kas. Taxis are cheap. The big pebble beach is only 10 minutes walk away which is beautiful, and there are restaurants there. We went out on two trips organised by Erdem - a boat trip and to the Saklikent Gorge. Both days were wonderful and our two boys aged 8 and 9 loved their time in Kas. A wonderful holiday.

We were delighted with both the appartment and its surroundings. The view was so beautiful that we thought we would stay put and just gaze at it for the week- however we didn't and one of the special trips we made was in Erdem's boat to the sunken city--pure magic. Erdem and his mother were so welcoming and helpful --we will definitely come back and not desitate in recommending the appartment to friends.

Our two week stay at Villa Dundar in the kind hospitality of Erdem and his family was a very memorable one. The nearby Kas is a picturesque town with plenty to do; we visited the small amphitheatre on the outskirts of town, scuba dived the reefs, enjoyed a Turkish bath, strolled around the myriad of streets and their traditional shops and excellent restaurants. The jewels of Kas, however, are the boat trips. We went to the castle ruins at Kekova, with their eerie tombs, and we also enjoyed a trip to the sunken city which we viewed through a glass bottomed boat. We did miss out on the trip to the nearby Greek island; maybe we'll do that next time we stay! All of this we enjoyed, whilst in the knowledge that every night we would return to the stunning villa, with its amazing views of the harbour and Kas. The adjoining pool is great for relaxing by, and having a barbeque one day by the pool was one of the highlights of our stay. The hospitality of Erdem and his family was fantastic, we were made to feel most welcome, and the family will make every effort to assist you with information concerning local places of interest, which boat trips are the best, and where to get the best kebab or pide!

We could not have chosen a better place to spend our honeymoon. Villa Dundar has spectacular views of Kas and the sea - the gardens are beautiful and the pool crystal clear. Our apartment was spacious and ýts balconies a great place to watch the sunset. Most of all - Erdem and his family are very friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Thanks!

I have lived and travelled throughout the world and never before encountered such warm and friendly hospitality as offered by Tevfik and his family. The house and grounds are beautiful with the most magnificent views of the stunning Kas and the Med. There is so much to do in the area and we always felt welcome and safe wherever we went, even strolling back to the villa at midnight after a meal in one of the many excellent (and very cheap) restaurants in the area. Even the most jaded palate will be charmed by this holiday - treat yourself soon!

To Tevfik, Gonul, Erdem and Ergun, We can't thank you enough for your wonderful hospitality and generous while we have stayed here at Villa Dundar. We will never forget the hill top field dinner and cups of tea around the pool. Our trip to Isparta and Cappadokya was another highlights. Best of all was just staying here with the magical views from our apartment. We loved your beautiful garden and crystal clean pool. We cant get over how quiet and peaceful it is. We even enjoyed our twice a day walks to Kas, stopping to swim along the way. We felt so lucky to have met you all and truly hope that we will see you again. Perhaps you will come to Vancouver Island ?!!! We surely will return to Kas ! Goodbye for now, Carolyn & Denis Cowichan, Vancouver Island, Canada

The villa has absolutely gorgeous views. We stayed in the top floor apartment which was very comfortable; it has a big terrace and a hammock. Kas is a beautiful, relaxed and very safe town full of wonderful restaurants and takeaway "gozlemes" (pancakes). The town is only 5 mins away from the villa, the taxi costs less than £2. The pebble beach is only a 5 min walk. We will definetely be back as last time we were there for only a week, it was very short, but sweet.

Having been to Turkey several times I have seen KAS from a tourist's viewpoint and i can assure you that it is a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday, with a splendid and very clean pebble beach just a 2 minute walk from the apartment. There are also some very good sandy beaches which are just 15 minutes away by boat from Kas harbour - Regular 'ferry services' are available throughout the day taking people back and forth from this beach. You will find all the local people to be extremely friendly and in Tevfik and his family, you could not ask for more hospitable hosts. Kas is an excellent base for sightseeing. One of the great attractions of Turkey for me is the fact that there are so many places of interest near to the main tourist centres and Kas is a very good example of this. There are trips that can be organised through local agencies, or you may find that Tevfik will be able to personally take you to some of these places. I hope you enjoy your holiday. Regards Mike

I was skeptical at first. First time internet booking and all that. The gamble paid off perfectly Tevfik and his family are a real treat - they will show you the meaning of hospitality ! I have had many holidays here now and would recommend this place to anybody. This part of Turkey is steeped in ancient history with many fascinating places to see - read the guide books and you'll see for yourself. If you're looking for something a little off the beaten track, a safe place for your family and a holiday to remember go for it. We happily walk the streets of Kas at 10 PM feeling completely safe. If you want a chilled out peaceful holiday without the "barmy army" louts you'll love it. The villa is clean, comfortable and well maintained. Tevfiks service is second to none. Enjoy. Hassen
