Tell us about your visit:

Overall this we had a really pleasant holiday, once we had arrived and installed ourselves. Initially it was somewhat hair-raising - the directions from the airport were minimal and misleading, instructing us to follow signs to makarska, which dont exist (follow the signs to Dubrovnik instead). Once we had arrived there was no-one there to meet us and I didnt even know which apartment we were supposed to be staying in. After phoning the number Id been given by the owner (slightly begrudgingly I might add), someone did turn up and practically threw the keys at us in the carpark. I said we didnt know which apartment it was and she then did go and open the door for us... Except there was a problem with the lock and she couldnt open it. After a few minutes of fiddling she eventually opened it and ran off. We then had similarly problems with the lock ourselves, until eventually we worked out the knack. Some prior warning and explanation of this would have been good. I also felt that some kind of welcome information would have been helpful - what to do in an emergency, contact number, places to visit, etc..
Despite this initial hiccup, the apartment itself is clean, quiet, private and functional, set back from a quiet residential street. Sitting out on the balcony in the evening, watching the neighbours come and go was really relaxing, and the atmosphere of the place was gentle and friendly.
The apartment has everything you need (apart from a cafetiere so we got used to turkish coffee) I think the double bed is possibly the most comfortable I have ever slept in!
As with previous reviewers we took to walking towards baska voda to find quieter spots, although we often found ourselves amongst naturists, much to the chagrin of my children! The beaches are really clean and well managed, perfect for children, great for snorkelling, although sea shoes are a must for the rocks and to avoid sea urchin spines..
We hired a car, which allowed us to explore the mountains and along the coast a bit, which was really useful as there is loads to see in the surrounding area.
On the whole, this is a lovely place, and if it wasnt for the frosty and unhelpful reception, Id give it 10/10.

Directions to the property were excellent but no-one there to meet us on arrival (owner was meant to contact us prior to our holiday) but quickly rectified with a couple of phonecalls. Property clean and tidy. It is a ground floor flat and there is not a view-trees may have now obscured what there might have been. Shortage of bedding for 6 and only 3 forks! Otherwise... a good stay and excellently placed for discovering the Makarska Riveria. We had a beautiful drive down the coast to Dubrovnik. Apartment well situated in village, away from beach front but still in walking distance, so not noisy at all. Noise of fridge a problem at night if sleeping in lounge/kitchen.

The accommodation was as described-modern,clean,quiet,and perfectly adequate for our needs. It is set back up a slight hill above the hustle and bustle of this small but lively and busy (well it was august!) village-promanja seems fairly new, quite alot of modern building/apartments etc but it has a lovely tree lined beach and harbour, easy swimming for children and great restaurants. However the main beach is absolutely packed and we found ourselves walking towards makarska to find the perfect little coves etc. I should imagine out of season it would be fantastic. The one gripe as experienced by another reviewer was the squeaky water heater!Didnt think it too bad at first but it did get a little annoying when it started going off at 5 in the morning! However this didnt in any way spoil a lovely family holiday.

The apartment is in absolutely pristine condition and the photos on the website really do fail to show off its modern and spacious interior. The location of the apartment assures you’re far enough away from the beach to enjoy the peace and quiet and close enough to it for comfort. The beach is reached by a single road which is on a bit of an incline and it does feel steep when you’re returning in the heat of the midday sun. We found stopping off at the air-conditioned supermarket half way a must but then we were blessed with average temps of 36 degrees for most of our stay. None the less neither the 2 year old nor the 70 year old in our party complained too much about the walk.
Inside the apartment both bedrooms are roomy and have lots of storage space and come equipped with very good beds and furnishings.
The bathroom is very clean and has a good powerful shower and yes the boiler does have a very quirky squeak when heating but it’s more of a novelty than an inconvenience. Closing the door illuminates the noise of both the heater and the conveniently placed washing machine.
The kitchen is beautifully finished and comes equipped with all mod cons including an electric BBQ for cooking outside, large modern fridge/freezer, halogen hob and pristine fan assisted oven.
In the combined lounge and dining room we found everything we needed including a very comfortable full sized sofa bed and armchair as well as a good sized dining table. The satellite TV does work but it takes a bit of getting used to. If you’re taking kids you’ll find channel 736 (Boomerang cartoon channel) very useful for keeping them quiet. Not all the channels listed are received which is generally the case with this type of system but you will find BBC World News and MTV if you just keep flicking.
The air-conditioning unit works at the flick of a switch on the remote control and easily keeps the whole apartment cool. The shutters on the patio door and all the windows also do a very good job at keeping the apartment cool and secure.
Promajna itself is a beautiful jewel in the crown of the Markarskan Riviera. We toured most of the neighbouring locations on foot and would have been happy and well serviced if we had just stayed put. You do feel like you’re staying in a very exclusive small resort.
The beaches are exceptionally clean and have something for everyone from paragliding to trampolines and for the less active cheap beach bed hire, nice bars and excellent restaurants.
The short walk south to Bratus (20 mins) is worth the stroll as is the slightly longer walk north along the promenade to the larger resort of Baska Voda (50 mins) and Brela (1 hr).
In concluding we had a wonderful time in Vukovarska ulica 37. It was like staying in a show home and it is very likely that we will return next year. The journey from Split Airport was very straightforward and we found everything we needed in Promajna to make our stay a memorable one.
Thank you.

The property is very nice, modern, spacious and in a good location. The photo on the internet doesn't show much and we were a little anxious about what to find. However we decided to photograph the whole apartment and am willing to e-mail the photo's to the owner if he wishes to use them to advertise.
A few minor annoyances that should be fixed easily :
- Water heater squeaks loud regularly when heating. Slightly annoying when showering before bedtime.
- Could use some more plates/knifes/forks/pans/etc.
- A handle on the outside of the sliding door, so it can be closed by the people sitting on the patio, without having to rely on someone inside.
Regards,
Peter

Good quality apartment with all essentials in pleasant location.
Please note the spelling of the place is Promajna NOT Promanja as stated on all the details!
Satellite TV did not work and no corkscrew but these are minor points. Luckily we took our own corkscrew!
