6 weeks in December/January to escape the Dutch winter for a while.. Stayed with my 3 dogs who enjoyed the warmth and the big garden. Jerry the owners dog is a gentle giant who loves to be kuddled. The garden is stunning even in Winter. Patrick the owner is very friendly and helpful. The apartment was very pretty (lovely decorated) and has everything you need ( TV with countless channels, WIFI, Ipod docking station, HIFI etc etc.) What can I say - it was one the best holidays ever!

Very peaceful property .fabulous gardens, lovely sun terrace. Just the quiet break we were looking for. Thanks Patrick for your help finding the details of a English speaking church and the details of the El Hambre etc. very much appreciated.

Pleased that your time at Cortijo Nuevo was enjoyable and as expected.
Yes, suprised that there are Anglican (C of E) church services nearby; Almuñécar 9.30am Sundays / Nerja 12.00 noon Sundays - local Catholic church welcome resident British Clergy. Also advisable to pre-book Al Hambra (Granada) visits - easy method (0034) 934923750

Lovely apartment in a luxuriant garden, close to the beach and the city of Motril. The private terrace offers a 360 degree view on the surrounding mountains and the sea. The owner, Mr. Sanderson is very attentive and helpful. Very well equipped apartment, peaceful and welcoming.

PERFECT SPANISH COUNTRY GETAWAY. First of all, I never felt more welcome in a rental ever before...it was so well thought out, everything was there, music, eclectic books and dvds...milk bread something to eat to drink, to clean plenty of sheets towels, A romantic sleeping room, with by the way great matrasses, a charming living room where you felt at home right away...,And what I most of all apreciate was the charming atmosphere in the beautifull garden, where you could hide in the shadow under a banana tree or stare at the beauty of colours of so many different plants and flower trees, enlightened in the evening by lanters and the moon. Every place had his own special touch, like the swimming pool where you could see the special handwork of designed tiles from an artist, that has her shop in a little village in the mountains nearby.. We sat on the roof to see the sunset and the stars at night, or in the early morning to see the sun come up, and have breakfast, to make plans for the day...the owner gives you all the privacy you need as you roam the property from one fountained niche to the next...a perfect little country getaway for those who want to avoid the big tourism but still be near the ocean..oour only regret is that we couldnt stay longer...And yes, we will definetely return!

We enjoyed a fantastic visit at Cortijo Nuevo which is far and away the best place to experience in the Motril region! The apartment is very comfortable, exquisitely decorated and Patrick gave us and our two children a thoughtful welcome. We were like any other guest dazzled by the harmony of the garden. A true haven of peace... and of daily little finds. The property is surrounded by Andalusian greenhouses. As Parisians snapped up by the hustle and bustle of life all year long, we thouroughly enjoyed the pleasure and the peace of sharing the field with vegetal neighbours! We wish we could spend some more tome at Cortijo Nuevo. We will definitely be back!

Excellent holiday apartment has everything and more, no problems. A word about the garden - EXCEPTIONAL - a rare gem in Andalucia. So many different species of plants, (more than many garden centres!) interesting design with many patios, pathways and lovely calming atmosphere. All created and lovingly tended by Patrick the English resident owner. Definitely a place to return to time and again.

We enjoyed a very tranquil week in Patricks Garden of Eden. Obviously with his name he could banish the snakes. Floating in or on the pool was really therapeutic as was reclining in a shady niche with a selec tion from the house library. The dogs Ben and Jerry are the most gentle and unobtrusive of companions and add to the character of the establishment. The first floor apartment is very handsomely furbished with the best of appliances and utensils, luxurious sitting room and most restful bedroom, first class bathroom, good water pressure, fast water heat-up. A unique site to visit is the Museo Azucar in Motril with working installations of sugar mills, presses and boiling vessels, a clear history of the development and decline of the industry of which Motril was the centre. There is a wide choice of cafe-bars and restaurants in the area and a great variety of outings to be had from the extensive beaches to the magical Alpujarras with the mark of Arabic culture still evident in the mountain pueblos after five centuries.

El Apartamento is comfortable, roomy and very well equipped to be your home-from-home. The secluded gardens and poolside terrace with barbecue facilities and well-stocked fridge provide a peaceful area to relax although we did not use the pool as our visit was too early in the year. The excellent rooftop terrace provides uninterrupted 360 degree views. Arriving guests need to be aware that the access from the main Motril-Puntalon road is via an unsurfaced track and that the property is surrounded by plastic-roofed greenhouses. We very quickly came to terms with this and it did not detract from our enjoyment of the holiday. Patrick, the owner, is always on hand if you need help or advice but he will not intrude unnecessarily. Motril/Puntalon are working Spanish communities and you will not be in "Blackpool in the sun". A few words of Spanish will be helpful in the local shops and bars. The beach resorts to the east (Torrenueva 10 mins, Calahonda 20 mins, Castell de Ferro 30 mins) are mainly used by Spanish holidaymakers. As you travel west (Salobrena 20 mins, Almunecar 30 mins, Nerja 40 mins) the resorts become increasingly international. Granada and the mountain villages of Las Alpujarras can be reached by car in less than 1 hour and the ski slopes of Sierra Nevada in less than 2 hours. Almeria and the scenic Cabo de Gata area are also accessible inside 2 hours.

We recently enjoyed an 8 day break at El Apartamento, if leave would have permitted we would love to have stayed longer. We wanted a relaxed holiday, but with a special feel as we celebrated our anniversary and birthday whilst at the apartment. We read lots of reviews before booking and we certainly made the right choice. Patrick was really helpful before and during our stay. Hes created a really welcoming and relaxed atmosphere which is worth 5 stars! Apart from enjoying chatting with Patrick we loved the bonus of spending some time with his dogs, Ben & Jerry! Our favourite times at the apartment were on the private roof terrace which has a lovely breeze and stunning views. Remember to use lots of tealight candals, the summer kitchen and terraces look fab in the evenings, all lit up. Getting around the area was easy with a car, and we enjoyed a trip up into the mountains and visited a few local seaside towns. We found the area was really good value for quality food and drink. Looking forward to a return trip!

We had a great relaxed vacation in El Apartamento in October 2010. The house exeeded our expectations: the style of the furniture is warm and positive, the technical equipment great and the garden very nice with lots of small niches and flowers everywhere. We really felt at home during our stay and enjoyed our private terraces. The kitchen needed some cleaning when we moved in and there was also some dust cleaning necessary - but we did not mind. The situation in between green houses is not great, but also not really disturbing. Just one hour drive to Granada is great. Patrick is a friendly and quiet host - and helpful when needed. I already recommended it to friends of mine and we would also come back for a next holiday, if we wanted just to relax.

'PARADISE FOUND' -
El Apartamento, an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of life, even a delayed return to the UK because of the volcano could not spoil our enjoyment. In fact Patrick the owner went out of his way to help us, with free use of both computer and telephone to help us resolve our problem.
The garden is an eclectic joy of flowers, shrubs and trees wherever you look. The swimming pool area is an absolute delight, with everything you could need for a barbaque, even an honesty fridge should you run out of vino collapso.
The apartment is extremely well equipped and spacious, the kitchen has all you need and more to survive if you choose to self-cater.
Torrenueva, the nearest village has plenty of mini-markets, very good bakeries and tavernas nearby Motril though a working town, has plenty of suprise in it's back streets and Excellent supermarkets.
Salobreña is a pueblo blanco with it's Moorish castle dominating the town and whitewashed houses clambering up the hillside.

All in all, if you want the real Spain, warts and all and you are willing to look, then Cortijo Nuevo is the place for you, if you want a Symbaritic lifestyle then look elsewhere.
If you can find a more caring and attentive landlord, who is there only when you need him, but slides into the background at all other times, then please let me know.

A very lovely escape from the chaos of modern life. Apart from the beautiful house and gardens with their constantly surprising nooks and niches and hideaways there was an unbelievable welcome package of wine, more wine, eggs, chorizo, cheese, croissants and more. On hand were jazz cds, a fine collection of dvds and satelitte tv (should one be that way inclined or the weather disappointing!). Patrick was a friendly and helpful host who was equally happy to supply local info and allow us space to relax during our 10 day stay. Our two year-old son loved the pool and swam almost every day. Recommended.

The description on the website didnt do this little gem justice. Ideally situated, close to Motril with all that brings (supermarket etc) but also hidden away in the greanery of Puntalon. It is also close to the motor-way network that will take you to Granada and beyond. During our stay we took time to recharged- spent a few days around the pool enjoying the comforts of the villa, swimming pool, well stocked fridge by the BBQ area. Once we were energised we took a trip to the Alhambra Palace (pre-booking this is a MUST). We took a trip into Granada and the Caves at Nerja. We also took a trip into the mountians for a day. EXCELLENT. Patrick was a perfect host, very knowledgeable and although very welcoming and friendly he gave us time to just be by ourselves (as did the other couple who had use of the other villa). One tip though would be to make sure that you take a phrase book with you as you cannot expect to hear/read English all the time.

My family and I spent a week in early September in Cortijo Nuevos Apartamento. Its garden is lush and aromatic, and we used daily the small swimming pool (our young daughter loved it particularly). The apartment is fully provisioned and operational and the nights on the deck above it are fantastic. Patrick is a pleasant, easy going host, and the dogs are friendly and well behaved. I think it is a very nice place to spend a few days near Motril (provided you have a car), and excellent value too! Although the other lodging was occupied during most of our stay we never interacted with the other guests nor with Patrick and his family because all the units have private areas that are completely independent.

We have just returned from two weeks in El Apartamento and are already discussing when we will go back .... if I say that in all our years of holidaying we have never been back to the same place twice, then this is an indication of how much we loved it. Everything you could possibly need within the apartment and outside has been thoughtfully provided by the charming owner, Patrick. The pool area, complete with fridge, sun beds, fountains, BBQ area and sink is set in lush gardens which are a riot of colour. As advertised, you do need a car as the property is in an agricultural area, however it is a fantastic base, and you can be in the nearest town, Motril, within 10 mins. We were in Granada (a must visit city) within 50 minutes and spent some time exploring the beautiful Alpujrarran villages which really are a must see. Locally and around this is NOT a touristy area, to our delight, we never even heard anyone speaking English. Local supermarkets have everything you need, huge array of fresh fish and meat, there are plenty of restaurants and bars and many other places slightly further afield to check out. All in all a fab place to stay and a great start for exploring Andalucia.

El apartmento is garden oasis where we relaxed in privacy under the shade of a beutifully planted garden, sunbathed on our own secluded terrace before cooling off at the pool. The aparment ten mins. from salobrena, shares the grounds with the owner and a second small rented property, though we hardly noticed until we meet at the pool at the bottom of the gardenl. All the amenties you would normally expect are provided making our stay a pleasure and we would happly return.

We have just spent some six weeks in el apartamento Cortijo Nuevo May/June2010. A rare gem to be found in Southern Spain far removed from what we term as crane country!! The apartamento offers everything one could want for a total chill out holiday with wonderful views of the sea and the mountains from the roof terrace. The garden is a haven full of beautiful plants and shrubs of every description and is a sanctuary for the many different birds that frequent it making use of the water offered from one of the many fountains found within the garden. The position of this accommodation is perfect for taking off into the mountains to enjoy the most breathtaking scenery or if you prefer the beach then that too is close by.Patrick is a great guy, always ready to help but never intrusive. Ben and Jerry are two loveable friendly dogs who were never a nuisance and always pleased to greet you. In all, it was a great holiday, thanks Patrick,we hope to return again one day. Tony and Mary.

We stayed in the apartmento for a few days after touring in Andalucia to relax, for which the place is perfect. We especially enjoyed the private terrace on the roof top of the apartmento that gave me nice tan from spending siestas there and where light at sunsets allows to take beautiful photos of both mountins and the sea. The garden with many hidden corners for chilling and grilling is also lovely and a fine DVD collection in the aparment a nice bonus. The owner is helpful and always available when needed. We certainly recommend the place to everyone who appeciate more than resorts full of tourist traps have to offer.

My parents and I spent a very nice time at the Apartamento. Patrick is very kind, helpful and not intrusive at all. The two dogs are very well educated. We found everything we needed in the Apartamento, and we feeled like staying in the middle of the trees, that was very pleasant and different for us! The garden is a real dream, with its fountains. We tasted the avocadoes (very good and tasteful). We also appreciated a lot the area that remains Spanish, we got used to the greenhouses and it was finally a way to discover an unknown aspect of Spain. In brief, we highly recommend the Apartamento and we hope to come back someday. Just a suggestion to Patrick : a map from Puntalon to the Cortijo would be helpful the first time people go to the Nuevo Cortijo! Thank you again for everything, hasta luego!

Cortijo Nuevo was an oasis! El Apartmento is reminiscient of a quaint English cottage with all the exotic touches that remind you that you are in the heart of authentic Andalucian countryside. Mere minutes away is the town of Motril, as well as other seaside towns and beaches near the Mediterranean! Although the little farmhouse and gardens are surrounded by the white roofs of greenhouses that have taken over the landscape - they are not a distraction. Actually, on your way into the property youll think "where the heck are we going", but you will be pleasantly surprised. Once youre in the gates of Cortijo - with its high walls - you are transported into a spa-like setting of luscious tropical gardens, terraces, a pool, and fountains. Even the dogs, Ben and Jerry, are a charming addition to the space and not a bother at all. Patrick - the host and owner - is a perfect gentleman and there to help with anything, but very inconspicious unless called upon. This is a place for people who like a home-like space in an authentic Spanish space. It is not the "spic and span" of a high-end hotel and is not for people who prefer the antiseptic feel of a condo. But if youve come to Spain to "feel" like youre in Spain - then youll love this heaven! The apartment is fully equipped - kitchen has everything - and even has some grocery supplies to make settling in easy if you havent got to the store yet. Patrick runs this on an honour system - meaning if you use something up, please replace it (i.e. spices, oils, beer, etc...) - that includes the poolside fridge stocked with drinks. We appreciated this policy as we had so much available for cooking! This apartment had everything needed - a cooler, mats, and umbrellas for the beach, fans, towels, TV, video, movies, books, info of the area, a gorgeous rooftop private terrace for an evening wine to watch the sun set, and that stocked kitchen! It is very much like a home - with every thing you might need! A gem! An oasis! Thank you Patrick, Ben and Jerry - well be back! Cheers, Pamela, Cristian, Luca (6) and Tulia (4) Canada

Thank You Patrick, We really enjoyed our stay, we were very well taken cared of. We had a late arrival, so we were really happy to see that the fridge was filled with breakfast for the next morning. The apartment was well equipped (we preferrred to cock our meals at home instead of going out), cosy and the roof terrace was wonderful. The garden was amazing and exotic, where the honesty fridge by the pool was a bonus (beer and soft drinks). The area was charming and we appreciated that there were mostly local citizens and just a few turists like us. The beach was really nice and not far away. The short distance to Granada and Alhambra was another positive thing. We will most likely be back some day. Warmest Regards to Patrick (and his dogs Ben and Jerry) from the Swedish family Knöös

It is the first time we stayed at such a location as it is in the middle of the farming industry. It is full of green houses. No shops or restaurants nearby and in order to spent money one needs to travel to Mortrill hence it can be a cheap holiday for those who dont want to spend too much. One cannot walk to the beach as such as it is not within walking distance and a car is a must to get around. Some people may not like the dirt tracks which lead to the property. Very difficult to find in the dark but when you have been once you will be fine. Mosquitoes and flies were problematic to us but others were used to them. On the plus side the owner Patrick is very approachable and friendly and he will help you if you need anything. I can see some people would like it as it is different from the normal tourist locations.

Owner reply:
To clarify:-
1) EL APARTAMENTO, perhaps its location does appeal more to the traveller rather than average tourist. Situated amongst a Spanish farming community with no nearby expat restaurants/pubs, souvenir shops and the like! Nearby Puntalón (10 minute stroll) has a Spanish restaurant and 2 tapas bars - English not widely spoken. However, Motril (5 minute car journey) busy workaday town has excellent shops, bars/restaurants, supermarkets etc.,
2) Pleased Joseph noted that some people would like the location.....in fact over the years 100s have and I receive a good level of repeat business.
3) El Apartamento is indeed, different from normal tourist locations (this adds to its charm!) - but, resort towns like Almuñécar, Órgiva & Nerja can easily be reached with short car journey. Granada less than 50 minutes North on new motorway.

This was pretty nice stay. the house is wonderful with sunbathing terrace on the roof, fully equiped kitchen, mangal facility at little terrace right next to entrance door. Garden is good also but needs a kind of refreshing (Patrick started putting it all in order when we leaving, so I assume that it will be ok for the "hot" season). pool and relax area bring in additional value if you dont want go out. There is nothing to complain about the house and property owner -Patrick. He is extremely helpful and nice, but there is a couple of things which stand apart - location and surrounding areas. villa located amoung farms, where local spanish guys grow up fruts, veg, and stuff like that. As any kind of production farms produce not only goods but waste also. And when sun is down waste gives rank smell, As location is farm village you will not find any points of interest closer than Motril - about 2 miles away. Motril is just like any other city along costa tropical - not ugly not super (imho) - but shops, rest, super-markets, etc are availiable there)) So , this is it. you can make your own pros and cons regarding El APARTAMENTO, based on written above. if any questions, pls e-mail me Andrey Moscow, Russia

We very much enjoyed our stay in the cottage which was lovely and quirky. The gardens are idylic and a credit to Patrick - we enjoyed the pool and outdoor kitchen area and watching the sunset with a glass of wine on the roof terrace was a must each night. A car is essential and although Puntalon doesnt have much to offer a short drive takes you to some lovely places both inland and along the coast. Patricks dogs, Ben and Gerry were very welcoming and Patrick was very friendly and helpful. Well be back!!

This property is very well kept and is perfect for a relaxing break. Patrick has done an excellent job of keeping the grounds luscious and the apartment very comfortable. We especially loved the swimming pool and barbecue area. Our only disappointment was the location, as the nearby town of Motril is largely an industrial town and a car is definitely necessary as there is not many within walking distance. However, this place is well positioned for visiting the towns along the Costa Tropical and is a reasonable distance from Granada. Thank you Patrick, we really enjoyed our stay!

We had a very good time there. Every morning breakfast on the roof, enjoying the rising sun and the view to sea and mountains. Patrick is a very kind man who tries to do everything to make your stay as good as possible. The equipment in the kitchen is very good. Only one thing is not perfect: no table to sit for breakfast or dinner (in case it is too cold or rainy outside) Walking or sitting in the beautiful garden feels as if you are in heaven. The swimming pool is very nice.

Thank You Mia & Paul for taking the time to submit your lovely Review.
Pleased that you enjoyed your time here and appreciated the beautiful garden and new roof terrace. As you found, in this climate easy to eat al fresco - using either table on the roof, lower dining terrace or up by the swimming pool/Summer kitchen area. Due to space restrictions, inside El Apartamento only a low coffee table and granite breakfast bar - ok for perhaps 2 travellers when weather cold and wet (quite rare down on the Costa Tropical!) but, not suitable for larger groups or entertaining.

if you want a blissfully peaceful holiday in ideal surroundings then the apartment at cortijo nuevo is for you. my wife and i have just returned from a month long stay and will definitely return in the future. everything about the property was great, spacious inside with everything you need if you should want to self-cater. the garden is a veritable paradise, an eclectic mixture of orange, lemon and avocado trees interlarded with shrubs, flowers of all colours and sizes, fountains all over the place, secluded spots to sit in and enjoy the solitude. at the end of the garden a delightful communal sitting out area with a barbecue at hand, who could ask for anything more? well you get more for there is a small swimming pool which, like the remainder of the property, is lit up at night. the result of the lighting is a fairy land scene, especially when viewed from the roof terrace of the apartment. the latest addition by the friendly owner to enhance your visit. forget the rat race, the depression, grab a flight down to the cortijo-nuevo and sample life as it should be led. laid back, stressfree and enjoyed to the full.

We had a brilliant stay at El Apartmento, the apartment was great, kitted out with everything that we could need on our 2 week stay. Gardens were beautiful and the swimming pool and barbecue area were lovely on the warmer days, nice to be surrounded by so many colourful plants and shrubs. Ben and Jerry were our firm friends by the end of the stay, both great with our 3 year old son also. Patrick was fantastic, very helpful with anything he could do and the welcome pack was well beyond our expectations, enough to feed us for the first few days! All in all we had a super holiday, hope to go back again some day for more of the same! Love to Ben and Jerry Patrick and best wishes to you. Marc, Kim and Luis

Me and my partner had an absolutely fantastic time....the location is great with the mountains and the sea just on the doorstep...waking up to sunshine and mountain views perfect. The apartment felt so homely and comfy and it had everything and more...especially loved the complimentary food on arrival. Patrick the owner had thought of everything down to a fridge by the pool. He was helpful, cheerful and unobtrusive and genuine nice guy...I would recommend this to anyone looking for a picturesque Spanish retreat. It was quiet and peaceful especially in the garden which was outstanding...many good memories.

Patrick was an excellent host, unobtrusive but always there if you needed him. He even found a wheelchair for us as my wife occasionally needs assistance walking. Ben and Jerry are lovely dogs. El Apartamento was very comfortable and well furnished. We loved the garden and pool, a real oasis, and liked to relax there if we werent going out exploring. Corijo Nuevo is an excellent base for this, we went to the coast and would particularly recommend Nerja & Salobrena. We also went into the Alpujarras and the Alhambra, Granada, both well worth seeing and easily accessible by car. We got used to the nearby plastic greenhouses which are part of the local economy of the area.

Stayed for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - very relaxed, excellent setting, nice and private. The apartment and gardens are very well kept and its very easy to make yourself at home - the self-catering facilities are excellent. As others have said, a car is essential, and if youre looking for night upon night of late-night parties, this isnt the place - but if you need a well-furnished, picturesque and relaxing break, definitely recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at el apartamiento. Just what we needed. A nice cosy comfortable place to retreat and rest. A place that you don't have to leave to enjoy the day. With the beautiful garden surrounding the property we felt like little kings in our paradise. Only in the end of the day we would take the car and visit one of the attractions in the surroundings. When we arrived we were a little shocked about the area with the overload of greenhouses, but as soon as we entered the property it felt completely different. The owner is very kind and caring and respects your privacy which is a plus. So our opinion : great retreat with value for money! car needed.

Found the property exactly as described. The garden and pool area is very good and quite intersting with different areas of the garden to sit in. Quite like the fruit trees. In fact, brought some lemons home to make lemon cheese - gorgeous. The dogs were very good and no problem at all. We forgot they were around at times. As we read in other reviews do need a car to get around. Plenty of villages and beaches to see. All in all a good holiday. Patrick's welcome pack was extremely good and kept us going for a couple of days. The supermarket is very handy.

The level of equipment was good with english televion channels available. Home from home. The accomodation was a little tired and needs some up dating. Never the less, we had a lovely holiday in a tranquil setting with a very friendly owner. The whole concept of the property & the garden is a winning combination. We stayed in el apartamento for a month in the middle of winter, and found it to be very comfortable. The property contained everything that we could have wished, and the proprietor lives on-site so he was able to put any problems right immediately. The garden is an oasis and very attractive, in contrast to the surrounding greenhouses; it is possible to forget they are there, but the approach is not attractive. Overall, however, we were very satisfied and would go there again.

El apartmento is very comfortable and homely with character. It is built over the owner's home but separate and private, self-contained and well equipped - (Bit like going to stay with a relative). There are nice views from the apartment balcony area. The owner, Patrick, was friendly and helpful and very unhurried. We were not disturbed but he was usually around to help round the clock. We went to relax and that is what we did. We had full use of Patrick's tropical garden which was very interesting (Patrick has a passion for ornament and is always coming back from town with something of intrerest). We enjoyed the use of the swimming pool, but the pool area was being improved during our visit (quiet time of year) There should be some pictures on the webpage by Christmas. We did not want a touristy town and the area was interesting seeing how the local people live. The trip from Malaga Airport in our little hire car was straightforward. We needed the car to take full advantage of the location. Now I know where Tesco get their cucumbers. Nearly forgot to mention 2 well behaved dogs, Ben and Jerry, who love food and friendly but were never toublesome. Well done Patrick and kind regards to your Dad (So be it!)

The equivalant tranquility of an English garden but without the rain cold weather and midges {we are from Scotland} Holiday accomodation can be very clinical with a few token naff pictures and spartan furniture. Here Patrick the owner has put in great resourse of thought time and money to make the Villas very homley and quirky we quikly felt at home. Out and about all the local towns offered good value food and drink with plenty to look at and great beaches. Patrick (and Ben and Gerry the dogs) did not intrude Patrick was more than happy to chat and give time to advise on places to visit and pass on local history when asked. A great relaxing break We would both like another visit. A sub tropical oasis in a sea of greenhouses. Duncan and Jenny.

A well furnished apartment with lovely private gardens and pool which made a great location for a relaxing holiday. There were also very nice touches by the owner who bought some food in before we arrived and also had a big folder of reviews of the local area which were extremely useful as it was our first trip to the area. I would strongly recommend that future visitors bring a car as the town is not easy to reach by foot and the property itself is off a dirt track. The best beach we found was in Salobrena which is rocky but clean and has nice bars and resteraunts along the front. Many thanks to Patrick... I would certainly recommend to a friend!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property is situated approx 5 mins by car from Motril, where there is an abundance of excellent Tapas bars and restaurants. The gardens are the work of the owner Patrick and he has created a little oasis, there are sunny areas or shady whatever you prefer. The pool was great for cooling off in the heat, only shared with guests in the other accomodation, we had it to ourselves most of the time. The accomodation felt as though you were using someones home rather than the clinical feel there is to some rented properties. The property is peaceful, far enough away from the road not to be bothered by the testosterone fuelled spanish teenagers on there scooters!!! Patrick the owner lives on site with his father , on hand if you have any problems but unobtrusive if you don't. Ben and Jerry the two resident rescue dogs are delightful. Taxis to and from Motril are in abundence, however to fully enjoy the surrounding beaches and mountains a car is adviseable. We were also delighted that there was'nt "an english breakfast or roast dinner" menu to be found............ We had a wonderful holiday.

The approach road to the property does not bode well as it is a dirt track and you are surrounded by canvas covered greenhouses! However once you are inside the gates of the property you are in landscaped gardens which are a treat on the eye and relax the mind. A lot of work and effort has gone into this area. The apartment is clean, spacious and is equipped for all living needs. The remote location allows for total peace (unthinkable in most areas of the UK!) Patrick is a gracious host, achieving the balance of always being available for problems and info but also getting on with his own business. Do not book in this area if you want english pubs & breakfasts, it is still, thankfully, very Spanish!

We stayed at the apartement in March for 2 weeks. Very comfortable, quiet, very English furnished. Internet cable and telephone keep you in touch to your family back home. Patrick is uncomplicated, and always ready to help with advice. The garden is just my absolute favourite: many hidden places, where you can lye down naked in the bushes, enjoy sunshine and forget the wind. The dogs Ben and Jerry will eventually keep you company, especially if there are cookies nearby ;) The surrounding area makes a strong contrast to the house: everywhere you turn around there are greenhouses covered in plastic. This is tipical to this area. We came here for cycling and enjoyed the quiet streets, steep slopes leading up into the Alpujarra, which is still a virgin land for bikers. I can recommend this area for spring training (but don't try Mulhacen by bike, you might get stuck in deep snow!). Many greetings to Patrick & father & the dogs.

Owner reply:

Whilst you can view all properties in one currency to help compare prices, you will be charged in the currency indicated on the advert. You can book & pay in exactly the same way but the price quoted may vary slightly to the amount on your card statement depending on the exchange rate on the dates you pay your deposit and balance.
