La Rama is delightful, secluded and peaceful, with great help on site if something goes wrong. Some adaptations for disabled guests have been incorporated, so for example, there is an excellent wet room next to the master bedroom (an additional handhold around the shower would be helpful however) and the sink in the kitchen is low enough for a wheelchair user to wash up (no excuses for my husband!). The following comments should be set against the fact that this was our second stay at the villa and that we are likely to come again, so obviously we like the villa very much. Be advised that the internal slope between the ground floor and upper area is very steep and really only suited to a powered wheelchair or scooter (or a very strong carer or wheelchair user) and the same must be said for the slope up to the pool. Luckily I am quite strong and am able to push my husband up both slopes and this year we trialled a rented, powered scooter which also worked well. Getting from the car into the house presents a bit of an issue as well, as there is a gravelled area over which it is quite difficult to drag an occupied wheelchair. Although my husband can walk a little, walking over the gravel is very difficult for him (uneven, unstable surface). So long as youre aware of these issues and can cope with them, the villa is wonderful.

Had we had running hot and cold water throughout our stay we would have given a higher rating. Unfortunately there was a water supply problem in the first week, so that we were frequently without running water for very long periods, although the owners did try hard to get the water restored. The property managers did bring containers of water which helped a little although they were very heavy. Additionally there was no hot water in the first week, so we had to boil the kettle repeatedly for washing, washing up etc and were only able to shower in the second week. We do feel that some form of recompense should be made because of this and, although this was mentioned at one point, it does not seem to have been followed through by the owners.
We would be certainly like to stay there again now that the water supply and heating systems have been restored. If we can be offered a reasonable discount, given the above circumstances, we would be likely to re-book.
Owner reply:
Dear Jessica,
Thanks for your review, which, given the circumstances, was fair and accurate. We felt so sorry that your holiday was disrupted by the water gremlins, and trust that your second week offered some of the rest and relaxation you were seeking.
Were delighted that you would like to return to La Rama, and would certainly be prepared to offer you a substantial discount - as well as abundant hot and cold water - on your return.
I will be in touch with you personally regarding our offer, and we look forward to welcoming you at La Rama before too long.
Kind regards,
Arpy Shively for Los Piedaos

We were both over the moon with the villa. It was incredibly private and set in beautiful surroundings. It had all the facilities we needed and the shower was great!
One thing we hadnt realised was the narrowness and difficulty of access with the rather bumpy track leading to the villa. We were in a small car so were OK but thought others might need a warning if hiring a car etc (saying this the owners had a bigger car - we felt it was pretty tight though!)
We have already recommended it to family and friends and would love to go back there ourselves in the future. Great value for money too.
Owner reply:
Dear Joanne,
Im really glad you enjoyed your stay at La Rama, and thanks for recommending it to family and friends.
The track was finally repaired last weekend, to general rejoicing! And with no rain predicted now for the rest of the summer, it should make for a much smoother arrival at Los Piedaos.
We do hope to see you here again before long,
All the best and kind regards,
Arpy and Fred at Los Piedaos

The property was very comfortable and has all the facilities you need to self cater with children (which we did). The garden and pool are fantastic and we had no issues with child safety (one aged 2 and one of 6 months).
We would definitely recommend it to our friends as a lovely place to stay.

Lovely surroundings, owners fantastic and friendly. The pool was great for my six year old as it is not too deep. 30 min drive to a lovely beach so we had the best of both worlds. Without a doubt would book again - the property was spotless and very pretty. The cats and dogs a big plus as far as my daughter was concerned

What a beautiful place to stay! The views and the sense of peace were way beyond anything I could have anticipated the snow on a distant mountain top added the final touch.
We were very lucky with the weather lots of fine sunshine and beautifull starlit nights. The sunshine tempted us down to the coast and we loved Salobrena though incredibly quiet at this time of year (November). But each day we were delighted to get home to La Rama.
Particularly enjoyed a late afternoon visit to a nearby mountain village (name forgoten begins with a P!!) Driving back down into an amazing sunset and a long photo stop.
Even th e smell of the olive twigs being burning added to the atmosphere.
Our hosts were lovely and couldnt have been kinder. All in all a place we will return to.

Brilliantly equipped and cool house, great location and wonderful holiday! Amazingly quiet and peaceful, lovely pool, sun and blue sky every day, whole range of places to go within driving distance, walks for those days we were up early enough, very helpful owners/staff!

We had a wonderful time at La Rama. The casita was excellent for our two kids (2 and 4), particularly given that the pool is quite shallow and therefore very safe. Good facilities and the owners are very helpful. The one area for improvement was the owners' dogs. Although we were very fond of them we were not so fond of being woken early on a few occassions, including a 3 am barking fest two nights before we left. These would need to be sorted out and should be as it was the only (minor) blemish on an otherwise magnificent experience.
Owner reply:
We are really sorry that our visitors had this experience. Our dogs are usually shut in their kennel for the night. On this occasion they broke out. Their door is now mended and peace reigns once more.

La Rama at Los Piedaos was the most tranquil villa we have stayed in, with every possible need fully anticipated and catered for.In the most incredible setting among the olive trees and the mountains as backdrop, total relaxation was so natural, whether in the pool or on the patio. For the walkers and twitchers both activities were literally just outside the door. The pretty town of Orgiva was less than 10 minutes away with shops, restaurants and markets.
It was easy to get to Granada, the mountain villages and the coast. The owners are wonderful people, very helpful, thoughtful and made fantastic efforts to ensure we had a wonderful holiday- so good we have already booked the place again this autumn!

A welcoming and comfortable property. It was pleasing to find CLEAN dishwashing cloths and emergency supplies such as olive oil and sugar. The cooking facilities were probably the best we had encountered thoughout France and Spain. Two small challenges were easily overcome- the hard single bed (3 double blankets folded under the lower sheet) and the squeaky doors, fixed with a dab of the olive oil!
Coming from an apartment in the middle of Barcelona, we found the isolation a little daunting, but the peaceful atmosphere (apart from the noisy machinery in the olive groves) and the availability of the internet, more than compensated. Thankyou, we enjoyed our stay.

This was our second visit to La Rama and hopefully won't be our last. The owners, David and Shujata, are kind and lovely people and have done a wonderful job in creating a beautiful yet practical home that caters perfectly for wheelchair users. The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful and it is set in olive groves with views of mountains all around. We had a wonderfully relaxing, peaceful week there enjoying the sunshine, scenery and fresh air. How sorry we are to have to return to city life!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in La Rama. The casita and location couldn't be bettered for complete relaxation. The children loved playing in the pool - previous problems have obviously been sorted out. We enjoyed visiting the local towns and villages, and especially our trip to the Alhambra. After a hot day's sightseeing, it was always a pleasure to return to the cool, peaceful La Rama.

La Rama has been beautifully designed with a lot of inspired decorative touches. It is in the most breathtakingly beautiful situation and very peaceful. I loved listening to the birdsong in the mornings and seeing the hoopoes flying around. It's a pretty rugged drive to get there, but this is more than made up for by the peace and seclusion. The layout of the other villas is also beautifully designed. Our only disappointment was the condition of the pools, but Maggie swiftly sorted out the smaller one belonging to La Rama, although we were unable to use the larger communal pool due to algae problems. I hope that this has been sorted out by now, as a private pool was instrumental in choosing this property. Had it not been for this, I would have given the property top ratings in every category.
Owner reply:
The swimming pools are purified by an ecological system that practically eliminates the need for chlorine. On two occasions over the last 12 years thundery weather has causes the water to lose its clarity and then we, reluctantly, are forced to use chemicals. This week we were rather late in starting the treatment as we had hoped the normal system would clear the water. The water was perfectly safe to swim in but it did not look very inviting for a few days.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, and loved the situation. Some reservations : the double bedroom was quite non-private if others were in the living room when one was trying to get to sleep. It took a while to get to most places, and we don't like driving too much. We could have done with more comfortable loungers by the pools. Overall though, a holiday we thoroughly enjoyed and was a really good rest.

My Husband and I had a wonderful vacation at La Rama. The thought and detail that had been put into the decor of our casita was evident throughout the property and aided us in having a totally relaxed time away. We found wine and bread awaiting us on our arrival and having been greeted by the owners, we didn't see them for the rest of our visit but knew they were available should we have needed them. We highly recommend Los Piedaos and will definitely be returning in the future.

La Rama is a wonderful place to stay! It is peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful olive trees and mountain ranges. It is a close drive to the small mountain villages in the area, and an easy drive to Granada. The design is creative, earth-conscious, thoughtful and a beautiful reflection of the surrounding landscape. Beds are comfy, and we were greeted warmly and provided with all the info and help we needed. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in the mountains near Granada.
The only thing I would change is to have a larger couch in the living room to allow room for 2 people to lay/cuddle.
Otherwise, it's perfect.

Unusual but lovely and well-equipped casita. Surrounded by attractive hills and olive groves, it feels remote, but civilisation is close on hand when needed, though rugged track makes this journey feel like an adventure every time. Charming and very helpful owners on hand, who have ensured also a plentiful supply of useful information and recommendations.

Great value, with the added luxury of the pool, we could quite easily stay in the house and not go out which we did on several occasions. Owners were approachable and helpful. The House well designed as a holiday home with everything one could need.
It was great!

A wonderful villa which is situated in the valley near to Orgiva. The property is beautiful and the surrounding area is quiet and secluded. One has the choice of using the private pool at La Rama or the communal pool which has stunning views of the Alpujarras. The two local towns of Lanjaron and Orgiva are only minutes away. The owners are extremely helpful and hospitable. Highly recommended.

How much peace and quiet can you get at La Rama? Loads, day and night. This was the most relaxing holiday I have EVER had. The casita was close enough for amenities, but just far enough away not to see or here them.An awesome area of stunning tranquility and beauty.
One tip though, hire a rugged car for the track down to the casita, our Getz took a hammering!
