Casares del Sol Apartment with large shared pool & golf nearby
Casares del Sol (as featured in C4 TV overseas property programme "A Place in the Sun" in January 2014) is an attractive development of luxury apartments and penthouses within a secure gated complex with delightful gardens, fabulous swimming pools and underground car parking facilities.
Our ground floor apartment has 2 bedrooms (one en suite), a good sized lounge/dining room and a well equipped kitchen. The living room and large terrace are south facing and overlook the attractive gardens and swimming pool. This swimming pool is open throughout the summer, usually from mid June to end September/early October, but precise dates depend on the weather and usage. However, there is also a second swimming pool on site which is less than a 5 minute walk away and is open all year round.
The kitchen / laundry area is well equipped including fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave and washing machine. The lounge/dining room has a comfortable leather suite (seating 5 people) and an oak dining table seating 6 people. In addition to the TV there is a DVD/CD player and an i-Pod docking station for your entertainment - with a selection of music and films to enjoy. Wi-Fi is also freely available and access codes will be provided before you arrive.
Patio doors from the lounge lead on to the large terrace which is south facing and enjoys the sun for most of the day. There is a large patio table with 4 chairs and 2 sunloungers and a parasol. This is the perfect place to enjoy an early evening sundowner and al fresco dining! The bedrooms have 4 single beds but the two in the master bedroom are zipped together to provide a King size double bed. This arrangement provides the flexibility for a family or for four friends on holiday together (eg on a golfing break). Both bedrooms benefit from air conditioning but they also have very effective 3 speed ceiling fans which many guests often prefer. There is safe in the master bedroom to provide security for your passports and valuables.
Casares Costa region
This is a wonderful all year round destination and the apartment is ideally situated for exploring Gibraltar, Sotogrande, Ronda, Puerto Banus and Marbella. To make the most of these opportunities, it is recommended that you hire a car.
If you don't fancy driving one evening or lunchtime, the Casares Golf & Country Club is a short 5 minute walk away and has an attractive bar and restaurant. There is also a beach bar / restaurant at the bottom of the hill which serves good sea food and is about a 15 / 20 minute walk away.
The Marinas of Duquesa and Estepona are only a short drive away and they both have a good selection of bars and restaurants and colourful weekly street markets. There are also a number of world class 18 hole golf courses close by (some within walking distance) and blue flag beaches only 600 metres away.
The Andalucian village of Casares is a 20 minute drive inland from Casares del Sol and offers wonderful views, country side walks, birdwatching and a small selection of bars and restaurants. The beach is literally a 3 minute drive away or, if you are feeling fit, a 15 minute stroll from the apartment where there is also a lively beach bar. There is a good selection of well stocked supermarkets, a pharmacy and a post office in Sabinillas which is only a 10 minute drive from the apartment.
There is also good access by road to a number of attractive Spanish towns. Ronda is high up in the mountains with stunning views across the countryside whilst Mijas, just 8 km inland, is set amongst pine groves on the edge of the Sierra de Kijas mountains with its cobbled streets, unique square bullring and breathtaking coastal views. Most watersports eg diving, waterskiing and kitesurfing are available at Tarifa, which has fantastic beaches, just 14 km along the coast. There is also skiing in the Sierra Nevada, often until May. Selwo Safari and Adventure Park is close by for family entertainment. If you are more adventurous, you can take a trip to Morocco on the hydrofoil.
Golf on the Costa del Sol
The following information may be of interest to golf lovers. There are many excellent golf courses within a 20 minute drive from our apartment.
Finca Cortesin Golf Club: An 18 hole Par 71 golf course designed by Cabell Robinson. One of the longest golf courses in Europe and the venue for the World Matchplay tournament. It is walking distance from the apartment and has an excellent restaurant.
Casares Golf & Country Club: a 9 hole course designed by Juan Carlos Martinez. Walking distance from the apartment. Excellent for the occasional golfer. Also has an attractive bar and restaurant.
La Duquesa Golf Club: An 18 hole, Par 72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones. There are excellent views from the course of the Rock of Gibraltar and the African coast.
Doña Julia Golf Club, Casares: 18 hole Par 71 golf course designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido.
El Paraíso Golf Club, Estepona: 18 hole Par 71 golf course designed by Gary Player. The Club House provides a pretty view of the whole course.
San Roque Club: The 18 hole Par 72 San Roque Old Course is rated amongst the finest in Europe. The tight, sloping fairways of the golf course are lined by cork trees, demanding accurate driving.
Alcaidesa Links, La Linea: This 18 hole Par 72 golf course was designed in a traditional Scottish links style by Peter Allis and Clive Clark, and considered to be the first authentic links type course in the country.
Sotogrande Golf Club: An 18 hole Par 72 golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones. It is arguably ranked amongst the best ten golf courses in Europe.
Valderrama Golf Club, Sotogrande: Valderrama is an 18 hole Par 71 course designed by Robert Trent Jones. The host to ten Volvo Masters events and the 1997 Ryder Cup and is regarded as one of the best golf course in all of Europe.
Our well furnished apartment has everything you will need on holiday including a fully equipped kitchen with separate laundry area and a spacious lounge/dining room with TV and a DVD/CD player and i-Pod docking system. Wi-fi Internet facilities are also available and a safe has been installed in the master bedroom for your valuables. The apartment is fully airconditioned (both hot and cold to suit all seasons). There is also a lovely south facing terrace which has been extended to provide additional relaxation and al fresco dining facilities for our visitors.
