for the price the property represents excellent value. a car is very much needed as it is very quiet and remote, very relaxing and just what we wanted. take some time to visit other parts of the island as the scenery is fantastic. we will more than likely visit again for some winter sun ( the weather was perfect too?)

My wife and I stayed here for 1 week at the beginning of August
We wanted a quiet week to recharge our batteries and thats exactly what we got.
The location is remote but there are many thigs to do within a 20 minute drive .
Of the many villas on the estate we estimated that less than 10% were occupied , this meant that the you had the pools ets to yourself .
The villa was great , we loved the main bedroom which had a patio window out onto to balcony with stunning views . At night we left the door open and could here the sea .
We would certainly stay here in the future as we are big fans of the island , however you must only be looking for a chill out atmosphere as you need to travel out by car to resteraunts , beaches ect .

All I can say is Wow If you want a peaceful holiday without crowds of any kind this is the holiday for you, We enjoyed every minute of our holiday, surrounding views are spectacular to say the least! Gardens are beautiful! beach was a little to far to walk but we drove to our fav beaches so didnt really go down the local coves.
We were the only people using the pool for all but one of our 7 days, (which was bliss) it was so quiet you could hear bird song all the time, and the chipmunks calling. Wow what a villa, the gardens are in superb conditon and you certainly feel secure as the villa had shutter blinds which you pull down everytime you go out for day trips etc.the villa is very comfortable with fresh bedding and bright walls,we all felt really comfy, the furnishings throughout.and all the little things that make it a home from home are all there. The Kitchen is also well stocked with utensils etc for breakfast and lunch but we ate out everynight so didnt use the BBQ in garden.
Sure there could have been some more directions on the confirmation but I know the island well so for me it wasnt a problem, but I would advise the owner to add some driving directions and some more emergency phone numbers to the confirmation details,ie the villas door number!!! There is a guard on the gate who didnt believe we were staying there so we had to ring the agent to find out, which was at the time very worrying for us!! The confirmation said that all guests are meet at the villa, this isnt the case but he was readily available and helpful on the telephone,(what if one never had a phone?)

Had a wonderful week at Villa Gecko. Was expecting the villas location to be quiet and away from main tourist areas - personally we found this to our taste, only a short drive to the hussel and bussel of Corralejo if that’s your thing. If for some reason you were considering not having access to a vehicle and were staying here then don’t expect entertainment or facilities beyond a cold pool (it was cold even in middle of May) and tennis court – no shops! There was a security guard on the gate to the entrance to the complex which made you feel it was secure – they will ask you where you are staying on your first arrival at the gate so be prepared!
We loved the location, very close to a wonderful stretch of coast, dramatic volcano back dro p that were well worth hiring mountain bikes to explore and a short drive to some nice restaurants – can recommend evening dinning in Cotillo sitting outside overlooking the beautiful little harbour or more busier Waikiki in Corralejo.
The villa was really well equipped and thoughtfully done so, had a lot of other utensils that other villas I have stayed in had not thought of – cool bags and freezer blocks, food prep tools, really large fridge, replacement bulbs, instructions on what to do if circuit breaker trips and more – all nice touches that made the stay even more pleasant. The only thing I can really think was really missing was a microwave -and I’m not sure I would have wanted to use the BBQ –it needed replacing.
The only slight negative comment I can make is that somehow I didn’t get emailed the code to access the villa key before leaving. I’m sure this was just an oversight as nobody else has mentioned it and I should have chased this up before leaving anyway – but it was an anxious hour before we got through to Bob and Betty on their mobile to get the code we needed to get in. Make sure you have this before leaving if you are staying here. We didn’t see Bob or Betty during our stay which was a shame as we would have liked to ask about bike and surf hire and restaurant recommendations.
To sum up it was an accurate description of the villa on the website, was what we were expecting. We would stay here again, especially as good value for money. Thank you Don for a lovely villa!

Hi Don, Just to let you know we had a great time at your viila, as you said, everything there we would need weather was very tempermental the first week but still managed to get on the beach,2nd week was cracking, enjoyed the peaceful location and the local bars at Larhares for some lovely food although we did eat in most evenings and caught up on the DVDs we never seem to have time to watch at home, lovely home comforts such as comfy bed, sofas etc. plenty of room to sit outside at the back and front depending on which way the wind blew,Bob and Betty sorted out the DVD player for us when it went wrong. Well its back to grind now, holiday over way too fast.
Many Thanks

Origo Mare - remote as we knew it would be before we arrived. Only about 10% of the properties occupied - 30 are going to be rented out by the company we were told by a resident, near the Oasis 1 pool. The pool was too cold to swim in, some tiles missing in it and, the kiddies paddle pool, the seagulls liked to come for their evening bathe though, around 6ish. We walked around the complex and, it was like a ghost town - such a shame really but, quieter for us - we have had barking dogs spoil our Villa holidays before, not this time though - we could hear a few but, they were a distance away and not continuous. The golf course is still non existent but, this was not an issue for us.
Villa - the beds and sofas were very comfortable. The showers worked very well. A small tv with numerous channels, a few in English - a selec tion of books and DVDs we took our own to view also. The Villa was clean but, the cobwebs hanging down the open staircase were over the cooking area - a bit off putting. There is a large fridge with a freezer compartment and, the use of a cool bag and ice blocks. We did not see the microwave which was advertised but, did not feel the need to ask for it and, we are sure if we had that it would have arrived on request.
Our only major gripe with the Villa was the outside furniture - only 2 sun loungers when the Villa accommodates 4 people - the dining table was a bit worn (the one on the patio) and, the chairs were the wooden fold up type with seperate pads to sit on, not comfortable at all, we ended up putting the pads on the sun loungers and dining on our laps as the weather was lovely for al fresco dining. We coveted the outside furniture of the Villa a few doors away!
We took our own tennis raquets and made use of the court every day, 3 dead birds were in one court and, were still there when we left. We saw the maintenance crew when they arrived to smarten up the areas where the new rentals were going to be.
It is about an hour and half to walk into LaJares - we used the cafes and bakeries there and, the supermarket was well stocked.
We enjoyed our laid back stay at Origo Mare in Villa Gecko but, our 23 yr old found it too quiet.

We had a wonderful holiday thank you. The villa is lovely and well equipped. Magnificent views from villa and it is so peaceful. You are really able to relax away from everything. Nice pool easily accessible from villa. Just a shame the holiday had to end. We would definitely love to return.

EXCELLENT HOLIDAY- The villa was like home from home - in fact the 2 bathrooms were bigger than our bathroom at home, comfortable, extremely well-equipped and beautifully furnished. The villa is ideally located near Lajares, inbetetween El Cotillo and Corralejo. The unspoilt views from the villa are superb including the volcano in Lajares, and over to Lanzarote. Origo Mare is ideal for a complete get away and is quiet and relaxing. The pool was warm and well maintained, and we saw the maintenance men cleaning the pool and working on the beautiful gardens nearly every day. Most days we spent at the lagoons at El Cotillo. We climbed the volcano at Lajares, and we visited the caves at Villaverde – both of which are worth a visit. After our days in the sunshine we really looked forward to returning to the villa to watch our DVDs and cook food from the local supermarket (in Lajares) on the BBQ. The patio is well furnished with table and chairs where we enjoyed hours of sitting around. When we chose to go out in the evenings we ate at the Pizzeria “La Cancela” in Lajares (they also do takeaway), and “Spaghetti” in El Cotillo. Both were good value and served excellent food. The French bakery in Lajares sold super fresh bread, sandwiches and croissants, and next door you can but the English newspapers after 12 noon. We found that staying at this villa in Origo Mare, away from the main resorts was exceptionally good value for money. We are considering returning in the future.

Very pleasant stay, the house is well equiped included a bbq. Close to the northern beaches and isolated , so if you like your holidyas peaceful and quiet this is the place. Next town Lajares is only 6 min drive away and offers all you need for shopping for food including good bakeries, restaurants and a supermarket.
Keep it quiet, this is a really good quality deal!

We spent 3 perfect weeks in Villa Gecko and wonderful Fuereventura. This is the place for those people who prefer quite and family timespending during vacations. Best for 4 persons or 5 with small child incl.
We noticed the potential (opportunity) for area development. As to the lacks I had just 1 - small space in the living room (ground floor), but we were a group of 6 with 2 children of 8 and 11 y.o.
2 spacy bathrooms and balconys (one with a view on ancient ocean`s bottom) on each floor, a ground floor terrace made made our staying comfortable and a little bit romantic.
To summarize - this is one of the best "value for money" apartments I`ve ever visited.

Excellent property - facilities good and convenient for the shops. A good location for either visiting the sights of Fuerteventura or just relaxing and enjoying a few days off in the sun. Highly recommended - Ill certainly be coming back!

we were completely satisfied with the accomadation would have been exellent if it was finished, pools heated as the one near our accomadation was closed the month we were there we were also without water for aprox a week and need to stress the need for a car.
Owner reply:
Thank you for the review. To clarify, the accomodation is complete and has been for many years. The development itself is almost complete.
As for the water supply. We contacted the managing agents on numerous occasions to resolve the problem which affected the whole development. Water filter blockage!!! Thank you Carol for being patient.

Missing amenities in Origo Mare developement, everything other ok.
Owner reply:
The amenities are still in being built by the developer. There is use of the swimmning pool and paddle courts situated within 100 yards of villa. as stated in the Villa details, Lajares is a ten minute drive away which provides all you need.If you want to peace and downtime, this is the place for you.

The property itself was very excellent with good facilities. However, the location was rather remote with very few people living there. The pool nearest to us was not open and there were no facilities at pool - ie: anywhere to sit or shade oneself - therefore could not use it.
Owner reply:
With regards to the pool. The Developer will close one of the two pools to clean them throughout the year. The agreement is that one one will always remain open. We do not have any control over which one and when, however, the next available pool is about 100 yeards further on.

Bri & I enjoyed a lovely 5-day break in this beautiful villa. Harry & Ann were marvelous, they met us at the airport & added the extra food items we asked for. The scenery behind the villa is amazing & the villa facilities were excellent. The feral cats soon became aware of us but apart from that everything was wonderful. Hiring a car is a must as there is no bus transport, but that is the price you have to pay for paradise. We will definitely be returning to Origo Mare complex next year. Thank you for a lovely time.

The property was well appointed and had nice touches like the dishwasher and the good quality bedding and towels.
Harry and his wife were very kind and helpful. We have been to the island many many times in the last 15 years and this was one of the nicest villas we have stayed in. The owner, Don, provided clear instructions and advice. We are definitely going back to this one. It helped to make our visit this time very enjoyable.

A marvellous holiday location - advisable to take a wind break, although that comment could apply to most of the island! The villa was comfortable, well located for many different activities - not too close to the main towns but not too far up in the mountains - had pretty much all I needed and there were plenty of up-to-date information leaflets to ensure that I could plan my days with ease without having to spend one day of my holiday scratching around for the gen on what happened and where. Great place. Thanks. Will go again!

From the moment we were met at the airport to arriving at the villa and being shown around we knew we would enjoy our stay. The villa was clean and well laid out. We would have no hesitation in recomending the villa and will defiently be going back.
