Dalyan is situated about 20 minutes from the villa and is a hive of activity during the season. A charming traditional Turkish fishing town, in an idyllic position bordering the river close to the sea. The town is within a wildlife sanctuary and surrounded by lush green fields backed by spectacular mountain ranges. On the opposite side of the river is the ancient city of Caunos with it’s well preserved amphitheatre and Lycean rock tombs.
Trips can be organised from Dalyan ranging from boat trips up or down the river to the beach or to the mud baths and Lake Koycegiz, quad biking, jeep safari, diving, white water rafting, 12 island sailing day, Turkish baths or local excursions etc. There are many restaurants and shops in Dalyan and they have their local market on a Saturday.
Only 15 minutes away, Gocek nestles at the foot of the pine clad mountains looking over the 12 islands of the bay. Gocek is becoming a famous yachting harbour both in Turkey and in the world. One of the pleasures of a visit here is a stroll around the marina to admire the array of boats of all shapes and sizes moored there. The waterfront is lined with bars and restaurants. Inland life revolves around the pretty market square which is lined with little shops selling antiques and crafts as well as more unusual carpets.
The quickest way to Gocek would be through the tunnel which costs 3 lira each way. The alternative route is the mountain road which is a longer route.
Beaches in the Area
Iztuzu Beach, Dalyan
Can be reached by boat in Dalyan or you can travel by road, either way taking in the beautiful scenery. A sandbar of the Dalyan Delta is a natural conservation area and one of the last breeding places in Europe for the protected Loggerhead Sea Turtle. The beach is several kilometres long with scenic surroundings, hot brown sand and shallow water. There is a small café and sun loungers and sun umbrellas are available for hire.
Approximately 15 minutes from the villa by car is a beautiful long sandy blue flag beach which is safe for children. A range of water sports are available. The beach also has toilets, showers and a couple of cafes for refreshments and food. There is a shaded picnic area and small playing area for children. Sun loungers and sun umbrellas are available for hire.
Oludeniz is one of the most photographed beaches in the Mediterranean. A stunning bay, famous for its paragliding opportunities and regarded as one of the top places in the world to paraglide due to its unique panoramic views. Is approximately 45 minutes by car from the villa.
