We have had a simply wonderful holiday in Side. The apartments were great and very clean. We were lucky to be the only ones there, so got the pool to ourselves. Mete, who was there to great us was absolutely fantastic, going above and beyond to help us in anyway he could.
The apartment is situated about 20-25 minutes walk from the old town, but by the end of the holiday wed worked out a short cut and could get there a bit quicker. Its the quieter (and nicer) side of Side. And the local bars dont rip you off. Unlike the restaurants by the sea on your way into Side from the east side. The Temple restaurant offered us a 20% discount and then proceeded to charge us more then any other meal of the holiday. And the Picasso tried to push a whole load of extra starters on us, then got stroppy when we said we didnt want them, so we had a stand up row with owner. So be wary!
We would definitely recommend the Hawaii restaurant, which is less then 5 mins from the apartment, as the food is good, competitively priced and the emphasis is on having a good time. They also were open when we arrived very late, which was helpful.
Selale Tours next door to them are a good place to go if you want to go on any trips, and again, they didnt rip us off, and were punctual, organised and polite. The Turkish Bath at 15 euros is well worth it, but be warned you will be flogged extra treatments with a very hard sell!
That aside, we loved the fact that there were camels living opposite us, and the kids enjoyed their camel ride among the ruins. Its a beautiful location, and there is plenty to do and sea. We had a car, so we were able to go to Alanya and the Duden Falls, both of which were spectacular in their own way.
A great holiday, in a lovely town, with (in the main!) welcoming friendly people, which was good value for money. And when were tired, the apartment was the perfect place to retreat to and have a nice cool down in the pool.
Just be warned about occasional power cuts and ant invasions!
