Yamacevler Villa, Turkey
I fell in love with Yalikavak when I first visited and was struck by the freindly atmosphere. lack of crowds, and stunning scenery. When looking at the many properties available, I chose to buy a house on an established and well cared for Turkish site rather than one of the new build complexes because I wanted to live in the real Turkey - somewhere that's occupied year round, rather than just the few short summer months, and deserted in winter.
If you want to enjoy a relaxing Turkish holiday away from hordes of English Tourists, but only a short walk or drive to plenty of activity, this house is ideal for you.
Because the complex is a residential one, rather than a purpose built tourist resort, the neighbours are mostly turkish, and you will enjoy a more genuine Turkish experience than many other locations.
Just half an hour's lovely walk or five minute bus ride into the town centre and main beaches although there are two shops at the entrance to the site where you can buy milk, bread, eggs, tomatoes, tea, coffee, wine etc. (and cigarettes, if you smoke- although only outside PLEASE!) and the coast road walk down to the town is lined with great seafront restaurants.
There is also a very quiet local beach, with a swimming pontoon and fantastic little (very cheap) cafe just ten minutes walk away, which you can see from the house. It's mostly used by Turks, and a nice change from the busier and pricier main town beaches.
Early check in or late check out can be arranged and the English speaking agent will meet you at the property to give you keys and show you around (or pick you up from the airport )at a time to suit you.
A welcome basket of food can be provided upon request for your arrival to make night arrivals pleasanter, and will be provided with my compliments or stays of more than two weeks.

Yamacevler 13 is a superbly relaxing, comfortable house, fantastic value and ideal for people looking for a complete break and the feeling of really having got away from the english crowds. If tranquility and relaxation in a friendly place with your own space sounds good to you- this should suit you perfectly. Its designed and decorated as my own home from home (rather than cheap plastic tourist fittings, or the usual Turkish alternative, brand new mass-built glitz) and you'll notice the difference.
Its beautifully furnished and comfortably sleeps five, (in proper beds - not cramped onto sofa beds as with some villas) but is also perfect for a couple. Two terraces mean you can enjoy the shade downstairs, and a built in barbeque, or full sun and spectacular views upstairs, with a second table and chairs, cushions and sun loungers.
Downstairs two sofas, TV DVD, Stereo, fully equipped kitchen, breakfast bar etc mean that you will be comfortable and relaxed even if you dont want to go out and enjoy the sun. Or (if its early or late season) when it very occasionally rains! There is air conditioning and heating, and in high summer, the north facing hillside enjoys wonderful sea breezes, keeping the house comfortable even in the hottest weather.
Although there are all-inclusive hotels in the area, and lots of wonderful restaurants, really good self catering accomodation is amazing value.
By choosing such a lovely private villa where you can actually enjoy living you will often be tempted to relax and enjoy the stunning views, to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine at sunset, and cook your own food, making the most of the wonderful fresh foods which you can buy in town - (keep an eye open for fabulous aubergines, tomatoes, salads, cheeses and fruits at market on Thursdays) rather than going out to eat.
Tea, coffeee, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper etc are all provided free of charge for your use, and a welcome basket of food (cheese, tomatoes, eggs, yogurt, cucumber, etc) can be ready for you on arrival if requested.
On the other hand- most people enjoy going out to eat at local restaurants at least a couple of times. Its part of the fun of being on holiday! With Yamacevler's great location just a ten/ fifteen minutes walk to the best waterfront restaurants you can enjoy the best of both worlds- save a fortune, and really enjoy those evenings when you do dress up and go out to eat.
PLEASE NOTE: Although I have had to mark 'car recommended', to fit the site's definitions, this is only because they have taken no account of any public transport. It is 'more than a fifteen minute walk to a 'large selection' of shops, and beaches' but only five minutes on the dolmus bus which goes past the gate every 10 minutes in summer and only a few pounds in a taxi, if you don't fancy the walk. I have NEVER hired a car, and don't think it's necessary unless you're infirm.
Also, the Marina has been massively (and very expensively) expanded this year, so there will be a much more lively option for those looking for more sophisticated shopping and nightlife.
Brand new bathrooms for 2013 have brought the house right up to date so it's even batter value as I haven't changed the prices!
This beautiful villa is suitable for people who are looking for a civilised, charming, friendly holiday in the comfort of a beautiful private home, rather than a purpose built site for English tourists! The complex is mostly home to Turkish people, so its ideal to escape. There is no pool on the complex, but the closest beach is just five minutes walk, the town and main beaches are a thirty minute stroll, an 80p dolmush (bus) ride (or £4 taxi ride) and the many hotels nearby will be happy to let you use their pools if you're buying a drink at their bar. A dozen superb fish restaurants line the coastal road down to the town- as little as ten minutes walk from the house.
