A bit of a nightmare when we arrived to be informed that we werent due until the Monday, although this was soon sorted and confirmed.
Nice out of the way location, just what we needed.
The kitchen pans and trays and general oven dishes could do with refreshing and the kitchen would benefit from a small knife.
Very clean, warm and welcoming. Thanks

The cottage was very cosy and had everything we needed for a family holiday. The only negative comments would be:
The bedroom with the double bed was very small,
On arrival there was no heating so the house was VERY cold, you cannot override the heating which comes on 11pm ish daily and then releases heat throughout the night / day. Given the time of year of our holiday it would have been a nice touch if it had been activated the night before we arrived.
Otherwise the cottage was perfect and we would happily recommend it to others.

This cottage is definitely value for money. The location is stunning, only a few miles away from Keswick with forests one side and overlooking Skiddaw on the other.
The only points to consider is that due to the steep stairs and high access to the shower it would not be suitable to older/less mobile people (as mentioned in the description anyway). It is ideal for small families or 2-3 friends wishing for a handy base for all the local fell walking opportunities. The owner and cleaner provided additional support on our visit which was greatly appreciated.

It was everything we hoped/wanted for and a lot more. Clean, warm and cosy, great location, just perfect from coming back from a day walking the fells.

I have just come back from a great stay at Talcomb in Thornwaite, this is a lovelly cozy cottage, the cottage has everything you need for a lovelly relaxing stay. Keswick is only a 5 minute drive and is a lovelly lakeland town.
I will be booking again to stay here in the future.
Many Thanks

Talcombe is in a great location for walking. An evening stroll to see the Ospreys and Otters fising in Lake Bassenthwaite was the highlight for me. Access to and from the property by public transport was tricky as the bus through the village only runs once every two hours.
I was particularly impressed with how clean the cottage was.
The accomodation was fine for me as a single person but I think it would be very cramped for a family of four and even a couple might find the double bedroom too small for comfort. I would suggest moving the double bed to the larger room, one single bed to the small room and marketing the cottage as Sleeps three plus cot

This cottage is in a perfect location and is ideal, especially if you like long walks and have a dog. We had a great week, despite the weather and with a couple of improvements, this cottage could be even better. After some long walks we just wanted to stay in and chill out in front of the TV. Unfortunately it is very old and has seen better days, picture and reception was quite bad. The second thing is the oven, which again could do with updating. Great cottage in a lovely place and a brilliant base for the lakes.

Well, we stayed at the cottage the last 2 weeks in August. First impressions were quite good but throughout the week, we found out that things werent really up to standards. To name a few, the Bathroom leaked everytime it rained heavily which we soon found out that all of the gutters were blocked. My wife had to take all of the pots and pans out and give them a good wash before we could use them as they obviously hadnt been washed for a few months, as well as the cupboards themselves, very greasy/dirty. The twin room door did not shut properly. The shower leaked everytime we used it, i had to go out and buy some mastic so i could seal the shower cubical and the shower fan didnt work when the shower itself was switched on hence a very steamed up bathroom. Apart from that, our stay was most enjoyable apart from the weather which we cannot guarantee.

The cottage was excellent it had everything that we needed and was ideally situated for some very good walks within the area.
If you are considering staying here please enquire whether the chimney has been cleaned, we lit the coal fire on our first night because the storage heating was timed out until the morning.
Because the chimney was blocked smoke billowed back out the chimney and filled the cottage with black smoke and left quite a mess, which we had to then clean up, dirty soot is not a pleasant smell and lingers for days. However, we did inform the agent and they offered to send a chimney sweep around the next day, but we declined as we did not want to wait around.
All in all we had a wonderful time and would definately return.

We have just returned from this cottage for a short break, we had never been to the Lake district before and loved the whole setting of the cottage our dog loved walking along to Braithwaite from the cottage, Keswick is very closeby and we put the coal fire on once during our stay it was very homely
Perfect

We have stayed at this cottage many times we love it's period features and the little touches the owners add to make it homely. We love the fact there is a coal fire which we can choose to use should we wish. The setting is fabulous and our dogs love the walks we do right from the door
