Visiting Bulgaria, trying to decide if we could live here and still a little unsure the stay here has made us think maybe we could. Think what you have done here is really excellent and many thanks for your hospitality and free advice. Hope you dont mind us picking your brains. May well return.
All our best wishes and thanks.
John and Alison
PS Enjoyed the company of Tibbs and co.

Fantastic location. Paul and Carol friendly, easy-going and full of information about the area. Long drive (3 hrs) from Varna airport so would suggest a day flight. We had stayed near Varna already for a week prior to travelling to Elena. We were 2 families of 3 and 4. Would strongly suggest renting both cottages as they are close together, so can clearly hear all movements in Lavender cottage. Much more room in the kitchen/lounge area and great balcony in Rose cottage so we did all our catering in Rose cottage and only used the one bedroom and not sofa bed in Rose.Lovely good-sized pool with plenty of space to sunbathe around it on the decking but again nice to share with friends as with the BBQ area outside Lavender. Great space around the cottages and games/swings for the kids. Only one criticism, it was a little dusty and windows a bit dirty but this could have been due to the rain of the previous month and to the stone floors that attract dust! Fantastic waterfall nearby and so much to visit and do in the area if you can tear yourself away from the pool and relaxing atmosphere. Shop in the village sold most things and we bought bread there every morning. Language a barrier but you can get by with sign language and some basic phrases. Elena, 15 mins away,a nice town for eating and decent shops at good prices. As we live in the countryside we were used to the cockerels but not the many dogs barking! However, all part of the rural Bulgarian way of life!

I stayed at Rose Cottage with my girlfriend, Mel, for two weeks in September. We originally came for just one week but loved it so much we stayed on. The villa itself is furnished to a very high standard and, with the wood-burning stove, is very cosy on cooler evenings. Paul and Caroles dogs, Bonnie and Rosie, also made themselves at home with us, making us feel all the more at home. Paul and Carole were very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of advice on things to do and see in the area which was invaluable. They even had a splash about in the pool with us on one particularly memorable evening.

We stayed in Rose and Lavender Cottage for 2 weeks in July. There were 6 of us and having both cottages was perfect. Rose was great and the pictures on the web-site do not do it justice! It was large and spacious and has a lovely large balcony overlooking the pool and hills. Beuatiful and thus we sat and ate there everyday. I think if we had not had both cottages we may have felt cramped for 6 peoplein Lavender alone. If you are looking for a great place to stay as a couple, then this is great. Lovely spacious room for 2 people: lovely linen on the bed and a wood burner would make a cosy retreat for the winter! Rose cottage would be a fantastic place to stay and travel from. But for more info, see review on Lavender. Great place and well recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Bulgaria. It was just what I needed in order to relax and enjoy the scenery (which is amazing).
The cottage that I stayed in was beautifully prepared and was very comfortable. It is a newly built villa and that shows with the new mod cons, however they villa maintains many traditional Bulgarian features, such as the lovely wood burner in the lounge, and the high ceilings.
Both Carole and Paul made me feel very welcome and helped to make my stay there that bit more relaxing.
I will definatly go back and visit Bulgaria, and when I do I will be staying with Carole and Paul.

My partner and I had a very enjoyable stay at Rose Cottage in February 2009.
The property was spacious, well equipped, tastefully decorated and has plenty of space to sit, talk, eat and generally enjoy yourself, both inside and outside.
The view over the village is pleasant and you and near enough but far enough away so would suit people who want to be sociable and get involved, or want a quieter time.
The owners are charming and freely offer advice about where to visit and what to do, give tips about the local area and make you feel very welcome, thank you!
We werent let down by the quality of the kitchen and amount and range of cooking utilities and utensils (unlike other self-catering places weve stayed). Having arranged beforehand with the owners we had breakfast materials provided which turned out to be generous, local and tasty.
A great place to stay, thoroughly recommended. We will gladly return for another visit in future.
