Review by Nicola from Worthing
Dahab has two main areas - the golden beach area south of the lagoon is where the upmarket hotels are located. The sea is clear and the sand is fine. It is geared to tourists, but outside the hotels there is not much around, unless you take a taxi ride. If you did not venture far, you would not get a sense of the real Egyptian life. The other area, where we stayed, is the real Egypt. This is the best place for divers, and independent travellers, as you are near the dive clubs and a good selection of restaurants run by Egyptians line the promenade. Many are clustered around the lighthouse, and also further down in Masbat and Mashraba. It has a very laid back feel to it, and we met many tourist who had decided to stay there for a few months, as they enjoyed the way of life.
