The house
Le Vieux Praderet is an 18th century Provencal Mas situated a short walk from the picturesque village of Ansouis in the heart of the Luberon. 30km north of the Art and Culture city of Aix en Provence, 55km North of the Mediterranean coast and Marseille airport and 2 hrs drive from Nice and Nime airports. Ideal area for walkers, cyclists and lovers of the French countryside and lifestyle.
The gite is a recently converted barn tastefully decorated in the colours and styles of Provence. Accommodation consists of entrance hall, large living room with fitted and fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom, one bathroom, beautiful covered terrace, private patio with BBQ and views onto Ansouis Chateau.
The gite is adapted for Wheelchair access with private parking at patio level, large doorways and passage, spacious bathroom with level floor shower .
Sleeping accommodation – one twin bedded room (clips to give a double bed). Equipment includes cooker, micro-wave, dishwasher, washing machine, Satellite TV, CD player, WLAN/WIFI. Bed linen and towels supplied.
On request it can be possible to rent a second bedroom.
The Luberon
The Luberon is an area of outstanding natural beauty and offers numerous opportunities for hiking, horse-riding, biking as well as climbing, flying and watersports.
A network of signed paths, professionnal hiking and Horseback Riding Guides will help you warmly in discovering the Luberon and its preserved mountain ranges as well as the diversity of the landscapes.
The cultural heritage of the Luberon is rich and varied. The use of a range of natural local resources has contributed to the production of high-quality crafts which can be found in many of the local villages. Most of the local craft-producers are more than happy to exhibit their skills.
Located in the Regional Natural Park of Luberon, Ansouis, at the foot of the castle, transformed in the course of centuries, displays its houses in semicircle on the hillside of the mount protected from the mistral. Away from the road, you will find throughout the welcoming places and picturesque streets, the charm of a Provençal village.
Ansouiss castle :
historical site and monument, house of the family of Sabran originally classic fortress, alterations (XII-th and XIII-th centuries) and of numerous additions (XVII-th) of which the elegant south facade, will come to ease the rigour of the building copses, gardens and terraces which surround the castle contribute to the charm of the site.
Visit all days from 14:30 till 18:00 except Tuesday in winter in the morning, by appointment for groups.
The church St Martin :
historical monument, XII-th century fortified building, the former court of justice of the castle.
The Clock :
semicircular tower integrated into buildings of XVI-th century and crowned with a forged iron bell tower.
