This stone cottage part of a traditional Breton longere has been sympathetically restored and modernised to give comfortable three bedroom accommodation for up to 7 people. Many of the original features have been retained, oak beams and roof timbers, large open hearth now with log burner and even the original shallow stone sink, thankfully no longer in use.

Downstairs is one long room with beamed ceiling partially divided by an open staircase one end being a well appointed kitchen with all mod cons and an old French dining table and chairs combining to make a relaxing cooking and eating environment in the French style. A door from this area leads to a utility room with washing machine etc. and shower room and toilet. The other side of the staircase is a very comfortable lounge with sofa, easy chairs, satellite T.V etc. and large fire hearth with wood burner, a treble French door leads out to a walled terrace and large garden beyond, with unspoilt views across the valley

Upstairs is a galleried landing with window looking across to the village and leading to:- Master bedroom with ensuite, a large room with built in wardrobe and exposed roof timbers
Bedroom 2 a good-sized room with double bed, wardrobe etc. and exposed roof timbers.
Bedroom 3 a good-sized room with twin beds, wardrobe etc. and exposed roof timbers.
Family bathroom.

All rooms are equipped with electric convector heaters in case of a chilly evening and logs are available for the wood burner for that extra cosy feel if required, Hot water is on tap and heats automatically overnight.

The cottage is situated at the end of its own track so virtually no passing traffic other than our elderly neighbour and the occasional tractor so very safe for younger children to play and explore and perfect for us older children to chill-out with a glass of wine and a good book.





Out and About
Le Cambout is situated on the Cotes D’Armor Morbihan border, an area steeped in history, myth and legend, from the megalithic standing stones of Carnac to King Arthur and Merlin at Paimpont and the Broceliande Forest, all within easy reach, 60 min. or less drive.

The village its self is about a mile from the cottage and has a boulangerie (baker) so fresh bread, croissants etc. always available, a small general shop and a couple of small bars, the centre-piece being the church. Less than a mile outside the village there is a fine lake complete with small beach and play area children’s playground, tennis courts and picnic tables dotted around, fishing is also available with permit. Again about a mile from the village is the Forest of Lanouee ideal for walking, cycling or just to drive through.

Josselin, a small medieval town is about 20 mins away with timbered buildings, basilica and very impressive castle (open to the public) over- looking the river Oust where boats are available for hire.

Ploermel is probably the closest larger town about 25 mins for shopping with the major supermarkets and many other shops. Ploermel also boasts a very large lake Lac au Duc where you will find a sandy beach and most water sports , cafes, childrens playground and even a fine 9 hole golf couse.

Vannes, 45 mins., once the medieval capital still retains much of the walled old town, with narrow streets lined with beautiful timbered buildings, interesting shops, cafes and restaurants it is well worth a visit. Vannes is also on the edge of the Gulfe du Morbihan an area of outstanding beauty and worth exploring.

Rennes 45 mins., a busy city and capital of Brittany, not for the faint-hearted but if you do venture in there is plenty to do and see including of course serious shopping.

The cottage being centrally located is within easy reach of both north and south coasts and ideal for touring any part of Brittany, and if you just want to chill-out you only need to go as far as the local bakers.

The cottage is in a very quiet area. It has a garden, a patio area, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.
