We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable stylish house placed centrally in the heart of the lovely small town of Olonzac. We were warmly welcomed and provisions for our light supper were thoughtful after our day spent travelling.
We enjoyed exploring - the vineyards, the canals, interesting medieval villages, or simply unwinding relaxed with a good book.
We would cerainly recommend La Terrase and happy to plan a return visit. All in all a memorable holiday.

A great welcome from the owners who were kind to provide cheese, wine and bread for us after our long journey and explain information about the area. Lovely house right in the centre of Olonzac so you could feel a part of a small French town. View of church and sound of accompanying church bells from the roof terrace. No problems with parking, even on the busy Tuesday market day when they set up underneath your window for the morning!
Dont be put off by the (closed) shop underneath the house....your entrance is completely separate. I dont think that the owners photographs do justice to the large sitting room with its open windows overlooking the town hall. We liked Lac de Jouarres, a fresh water lake where lots of families met to swim and picnic. Minerve is a definite historical visit. Narbonne isnt too far away and Carcassonne about 30 mins. The local traders were tolerant and amused at our attempts at French and for two weeks we felt part of the town becomming regulars at the french bakery, supermarket and Cafe de la Poste.
Thank you-we had a fantastic holiday!

Great. Right in the centre of town for bars restaurants and market. Good centre for touring the area. Brilliant if you want to buy wine, La Laviniere really worth a visit.
Lovely terrace, we watched a family of hawks in the church tower feeding young and then fledgingwhat a treat.
Comfortable light and spacious rooms, good beds. Lovely to BBQ and eat on the roof terrace.

It was conveniently situated and parking was not a problem, but might have been in high season.
The microcooker was inadequate for the job and made cooking meals stressful.
Having the only lavatory situated on the lower floor was very inconvenient.

Property described as budget but we found it anything but. This is the second time weve stayed at this property and fiquite steepnd it very good value for money - were suprised it doesnt cosy considerably more, especially compared to the pricing of other Olonzac properties. Its spacious and airy, and the terrace is fantastic. Well situated in the town, with the amazing Tuesday market literally on the door step! Steps up to the accommodation from the entrance hall are quite steep, but wouldnt be a problem to anyone with normal mobility. Loads to do in the area as well as a little further afield. All usual stuff re bars, shops, restaurants within a few minutes walk. Parking not a problem - just opposite around the town hall, we never had a problem getting a space. Big supermarket and petrol a short drive away. Med coast an easy drive. We had great weather this year in August and last year in July. Owners are really nice and speak fluent French if youve any problem! Cant recommend it highly enough - perhaps better for a couple or family with older kids.

Property was well located in Olonzac and only minutes from shops, cafes, bars etc.
Property was clean, welcoming gift of bread and wine was appreciated upon our arrival.
The only downsides were the lack of a conventional oven instead of the multi purpose microwave, and the roof terrace furniture could do with being updat ed due to fading of plastics and torn cushions. Overall all though we had a very enjoyable stay and due to the pricing band of the property it was good value.

My family and I spend 9 days in Olonzac and it was wonderful. The apartment is beautiful and the deck upstairs was perfect. Nothing to complain about. I would go there again anytime

La Terrace is well situated, right in the middle of a gorgeous little town with all amenities close by. The property itself is much more spacious than it looks like on the photographs and the decor is fabulous. Our favourite was the roof terrace on which we spent hours late in the night looking at the stars.
The local people were very friendly and the market right under our windows on tuesdays offered all kinds of fantastic local produce.
A TV would have been good to have and there were a few small maintenance problems like bathroom door handles falling off, curtain poles falling off and fuses blown on the top floor but nothing that did spoil our stay. We would definitely come back.

More spaace than we thought from the photographs, great location, sun terrace was fab.
Double bed could to with being a bit higher, and single beds were a bit rickety. Some minor repairs would be good, especially in the curtain department.
Kitchen was well stocked with most things that you need and we shall definately use the place again.

La Terrasse is a most beautifully appointed apartment. Everything we could possibly need was supplied. The town is delightful and we really enjoyed the market on the Tuesday morning of our stay.
The only fly in the ointment was that we were expecting to be above a poissonerie (which we assumed would be closed in the evenings) but this had changed to a Kebab shop which was open til about 11:00pm and was a meeting place for young people. Although, to be fair, there was very little noise - just cooking smells!
It wouldnt put us off going again though so it wasnt too bad.
Owner reply:
Please note that the "kebab" shop closed at the end of last year. We are not aware of anyone else taking over the premises. (Mar 2009)

Thank you to Malcolm and Georgine for making our first trip to this area so easy to enjoy! Very welcoming and helpful when we checked in and happy to be contacted if we needed throughout the stay. The house is amazing, just superb and well set out. The village is a delight and the surrounding areas breathtaking. Thank you for the ever helpful green guide that was left, from which we planned all of our day trips. Much appreciated!!! Highly recommended...

After a noisy week at the coast, we were delighted with the accommodation and location of this property. It is situated in the centre of the old part of Olonzac with a great view of the Hotel de Ville, opposite. The owners were very friendly and helpful, providing us with local information and a list of recommended restaurants. The house itself was very well equipped and nicely decorated. We especially enjoyed the roof terrace, the weekly market and visits to nearby Minerve and Gruissan. We certainly intend to return and explore the area further.

We had a wonderful week and would certainly recommend this property. The situation is ideal - whether youre looking for a beach holiday (we went to a fabulous beach at serignan-plage), culture (Carcassone, the Cathar castles and Perpignan are all within easy reach), or some exercise (we cycled along the Canal du Midi, hiring bikes at Homps).
Or you might want to just stay in Olonzac - the market on Tuesday is a must and Georgina & Malcolm have thought of everything, including a welcoming bottle of wine which was lovely when we arrived late, having experienced the worst of Frances autoroutes. The roof terrace is a real plus - we breakfasted there and counted stars on warm summer evenings.
Possibly our last family holiday - with kids off to uni this year - and definitely the best.

The location of the property was excellent and a perfect base to explore numerous places of interest, in particular Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi. The owners/managers were exceedingly hospitable and went that extra mile to provide the finishing touches to a well furnished and well maintained apartment - not to mention the welcoming bottle of wine with the bread and cheese - how thoughtful and kind! On the couple of occasions we contacted them they were eager and happy to answer our queries. The only downside was the noise coming from the kebab shop located underneath/next door as the local youths seemed to congregate in the evenings particularly on the Saturday. The Tuesday morning market situated almost on the doorstep was a delight and well worth attending to view/purchase all sorts of wonderful local produce. Overall it was a super holiday and good value. Thank you Malcolm and Georgine.

Georgie met us at the property and was extremely welcoming. The villa was just lovely, light and airy and tidy and clean and there's a great roof terrace. Everything we needed was available to us and the welcome bottle of wine and bread and cheese was much appreciated as we arrived early evening. The town is very quaint and quiet except on a Tuesday when there's a brilliant market right outside the front door. It rained most of the week we were there but we were grateful for a break and in such a relaxing town and villa it's impossible not to come back refreshed and chilled out. Highly recommended

Lovely ,spacious, comfortable house right in the heart of a typical small French town. Locals friendly. Warm welcome from owners, who kindly provided us with food, milk and basic provisions as well as a wealth of information about the area, and then left us in peace for the week. There seemed to be nothing they had not thought of! we were very satisfied with the location, the property, and most of all the generosity and consideration of the proprietors.

Wonderfully laid out and well equipped property. We made good use of the terrasse for evening meals. Right in the heart of the village and all its attractions. Owners very friendly and delighted to offer any advice on sightseeing, restaurants etc. Village Market on Tues is a spectacular and colourfull event with wines, cheese, olives, fruit and veg: right outside your door!
Would highly recommend a stay at La Terrasse and Olonzac.

Dear Georgine and Malcolm,
Thank you very much for the use of your house for the past week. We had a great time and much enjoyed sitting on the roof terrace.
We had some unexpected guests and have washed and put away the bedding etc that was used, apart from some sheets we haven’t ironed.
Many thanks again

The house is prettily decorated in good taste. The word that comes to mind is "charmant". Very French! A warm welcome from the owner who was helpful regarding things to see and do in the area. We were particularly grateful when we arrived tired from a very long drive to find that Mr and Mrs McCLoud had thoughtfully provided some supplies such as bread, Jam, tomatoes and a very welcome bottle of wine!
The house is well equipped with good quality towels and bed linen and there are further thoughtful touches such as soap, tissues, games and CDs provided.
Our use of the roof terrace was a little limited by the weather but we did enjoy two wonderfully sunny afternoons there and can see that it would be a marvellous retreat in hot weather. All in all a very nice, spacious holiday home.

"Georgine and Malcolm
Just a short note to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at La Terrasse.
We finally got to sit out in the sun on Monday and Tuesday, but the dull weather meant that we did lots of exploring and took in some breathtaking views in the mountains and the mist! The storm was pretty impressive too!"
A bientot

I particularly liked the roof terrace.
I did not however like the fact that we had to keep windows closed to keep out the smell of fish from the fishmonger. We were also bothered by the noise of him unloading and working in his shop from 5.15am for this reason I probably would not recommend it.
Otherwise very pleasant - well equiped and the owners were very helpful and welcoming.
Owner reply:
We spoke to the fishmonger who apologised for the morning on market day when he had to start early. As for the smell of fish, we have had many long term and holiday rentals and this is the first time we have had a complaint.

Overall the accommodation was excellent with the owners readily available to provide very helpful advice if needed. The roof terrace was particularly welcomed first thing in the morning when you can have breakfast outside and in the evening after returning from an excursion to the many interesting sights, beaches and restaurants in the surrounding area or, if you wish, to travel a little further to Spain with the Dali museum at Figures then onto to his seaside retreat at Port Lligat. Inland to Albi with its Toulouse Lautrec museum then return journey down the Tarn valley was a refreshing trip. Local shops with excellent weekly market gives you access to all your daily requirements and this combined with very friendly locals made our stay very enjoyable.
