Escaliers de Montmartre
Why pay tourist prices for accommodation, food, drink and entertainment? Staying at our comfortable apartment you can live like a Parisian in a lively residential quarter, eat and drink locally and inexpensively, walk to Montmartre and the Marche aux Puces, and have convenient and cheap metro access to all the major city attractions.
Set in the lively 18th arrondissement, and high up in the hills of Montmartre, one of Paris few remaining villages, the apartment is a stones throw from steps that lead up to the Basilique du Sacre Coeur, with its sweeping outlook over the city, and the artistic quarter of Montmartre. Place Pigalle (Moulin Rouge), Place de Clichy, Place des Abesses, Marche aux Puces (the famous Paris antiques market), and Gare du Nord are all within easy walking distance.
Completely refurbished and refitted, this sunny, light and airy apartment retains its characteristic Parisian features, including original doors, high ceilings, traditional fireplaces, attractive coving, and polished oak parquet flooring.
The apartment of about 42m2 comprises an entrance hall, a large double living room with balcony, a practical and modern kitchen, a new bathroom and a bedroom. The living room, with two wall-to-ceiling French doors opening onto the balcony, has a generous and comfortable sofa (convertible to a double bed), table, chairs and cabinet/bookcase. The quiet and secluded bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe and storage space. The kitchen is equipped with a ceramic glass top, oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, and generous capacity washing machine/dryer. The bathroom has a shower, vanity basin and cabinet, and toilet. Together with multi-channel TV (with several English-speaking channels), there is a stereo system, telephone (Europe, USA landline calls free), and internet (ethernet) access. All everyday living requirements, including cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils, electric kettle, toaster, towels and linen, are provided.
Located on the 5th floor, you can sit outside on the balcony and enjoy the rooftop and distant panorama, complemented by a bird’s eye view of bustling street activity below. The apartment building has an elevator and secure entry.
Step out of the front door to discover a traditional artisan bakery opposite and a famed Vietnamese restaurant next door. Close by the busy and bustling everyday life revolves around the shopping streets of Place Jules Joffrin and Rues Caulaincourt and Custine. Restaurants, bistros, bars, bazaars, boulangeries, charcuteries, mini-supermarkets, banks, internet cafes, and tiny everyday and speciality shops abound.
The apartment provides easy metro (Jules Joffrin station 2 minutes away), bus, and cycle (sign up for a VELIB cycle for 5 euros/week, see www.velib.paris.fr) access to the major Paris sights and experiences.
