Nice is a superbe base from which to explore the whole coast. The buses cost E1 for every journey, they are reliable and plentiful. The trains travel along the coast in each direction, as well as every direction inland very comfortable but obviously more expensive. Worth it for longer journeys. Take the buses to the perched vilallages, they are lovely. Use the Tourist Information Office on the promenade for details. You can spend days exploring
Nice itself and each time we go we find something new and interesting. There are markets in the old town each day - none of them tacky, flowers and food most days, antique market on Mondays and crafts on Sundays. You can enjoy a coffee (delicious) or a glass of wine and just inhale the aromas around you. Can't wait to go back.
