Villa Trefle
Having visited this part of France several times and having stayed in apartments and camp sites, it was a pleasure to stay in Villa Trefle, with its “mod cons” and comforts.
The garden is a ‘jewel’ amid the Les Landes forest and is especially beautiful early in the morning and late evening, with a bottle of Bordeaux red !
Having 3 teenagers (13, 14, 16 yrs) we couldn’t spend the three weeks in the vineyards or shops, therefore teenage activities were high on our list. One of the places they enjoyed most was the “Adrenaline Park” at Moliets – this has an excellent quad bike and motorcycle track through the oak and pine trees. The whole adventure takes about 3 hours.
Several trips were also made to ‘Bruno’s sailing centre’ at La Rive, between Sanguinet and Biscarosse- catamarans and windsurfing boards can be hired and sailed in a safe environment on the lake.
The lake “down the street” is also a gem and well worth visiting regularly. We also loved going to the (sea) beach at Biscarosse Plage, at sunset to watch the brilliant red sun set above the refreshing waves.
Other places we consider worth visiting are: The Medoc (St Estephe) allow 1 day, St Emilion (1 day), Bayonne (1 day) – a beautiful town for strolling around streets and shops, Bordeaux (1 day), Arcachon – shops for the ladies, Monday evening market at Biscarosse Plage with the local traditional dancers on stilts (9.30 pm), Aqualand (Arcachon) – make sure the sun cream is on !, Cap Ferret – lighthouse is worth a visit/climb and nearby a restaurant called L’Escale with seating on the waterfront. As a treat (esp. for adults) La Bonne Auberge at Lugos (15 mins) serves excellent local dishes and a Saturday evening was much enjoyed there.
We have had three weeks of almost uninterrupted sunshine with temp’s from 25 – 300. Villa Trefle was spotless, very well equipped, with helpful notes where appreciated. The table tennis table was well used and much appreciated and caused many a laugh.
From reading the other and most helpful reviews we got the “Floc” and enjoyed the other tips from previous visitors ! The bottle of wine that greeted us on arrival was also a nice and well appreciated gesture. Well done Anne and Fred and many thanks for sharing your home!

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday at Villa Trefle, less than an hour from Bordeaux airport. The villa was very conveniently located for both the lakeside beaches at Sanguinet and for the Atlantic Coast, as well as being a pleasant location to just chill out and relax with a very secluded back garden. The villa was very well equipped and very clean, and the table tennis table was a big bonus!

Our second lovely holiday in Sanguinet. For a family holiday the location is perfect with everything within easy, flat cycling distance. Villa Trefle was very comfortable catering for all our needs and the table tennis table in the garden was a great hit!

Villa Trefle exceeded our expectations - any photos we had seen before the stay did not do it justice. The villa is beautifully kept with the garden the real highlight: perfect for young children with the shaded areas, sandpit and paddling pool. The villa was a short walk to a beautiful lake beach again perfect for young children with the golden sand, shallow and warm water. The nearby sea beaches offer a sharp contrast for those liking bigger waves. We found the area especially good for small children with a good variety of activities - sports, nature, culture (Sangiunets own jazz festival) and good food and wine (so close to Bordeaux.

The villa was beautifully presented and had everything you could need. There was a chilled bottle of wine when we arrived which was great and the garden was beautifully maintained and secure.
Sanguinet was lovely and even though we were before the season really starts we had plenty to do for the week. Recommend cycling the tracks around the lake, visiting Arcachon and Duna d Pyla - Europes biggest sand dune, Bordeaux was great for the only raiy day and the beaches around the lake were beautifully maintained and perfect fro young children to swim and play on.

We have had such a lovely holiday – our first time in this area. The highlight has been the wonderful lake. We got so lazy that we spent every day of our second week there. The kind man at the tennis club in Sanguinet opened up especially for us.

Another super holiday in Sanguinet! We particularly loved the garden at the Villa Trèfle – very peaceful and private.
We were very impressed with the standard of the lovely Villa Trèfle.
Having our bikes with us (although you can hire them locally) made moving around very easy and we cycled everywhere.

The Villa Trefle was perfect for us and we really enjoyed the lovely garden. We had a heatwave (la canicule) and we appreciated the bedroom ceiling fans and the shutters, which helped to keep the house cool, and us to sleep at night. We love this area and hope to be back soon.

Having stayed in another property owned by the same couple, we were expecting a high standard – and we were not disappointed. Villa Trefle is a lovely place to stay with absolutely everything you could need close at hand. And thanks to Anne, the owner, for sending me to her optician, who sorted me out with prescription sunglasses in a couple of days – I had left mine at home.

The beach nearest the villa was great – offering shade to those of us who wanted it, and hot sun for the others. The villa itself is very comfortable with the kitchen being equipped to meet anyone’s requirements.

We came out of season, at the end of September and beginning of October, with two small dogs. The house with it’s enclosed garden was perfect for them, and we didn’t expect to have two weeks in shorts and T shirts!
