The apartment

A bright, sunny apartment in an ancient village on a hill between Villafranca and Bagnone. Probably 13th century and recently restored throughout with a panoramic terrace, french doors to the living room, a large kitchen/dining room, a beautiful new bathroom, and two bedrooms upstairs.
There are magnificent views from the house and the terrace to the Apennines.

The area

Steps lead up from the narrow cobbled street where all village life takes place. The single street leads to the castle at the head of the town. It is possible to drive to the door for unloading, and parking is available in the piazza.
The village has a small shop that sells bread and milk in the morning, and there are a range of shops, bars and restaurants in Villafranca only 3 km away which also has a large swimming pool complex and a train station with trains to Florence, La Spezia, and Parma. The beautiful old market town of Bagnone, the jewel of Lunigiana is only 5 minutes drive away.
There are many lovely drives and walks into the hills where river pools for bathing may be found.

The history and ambience
On an historical note, the village was a traditional resting place on the Via Francigena - the pilgrimage route from Canterbury to Rome, and the Archbishop of Canterbury stayed there in the 11th century.

At Il Tinello you are in the heart of a lively Italian village, but can also sit peacefully on your terrace with a glass of wine looking out across the valley to the hills beyond.

Un séjour exceptionnel Tout correspond parfaitement à la description.dans un village très authentique. La maison est vraiment très bien située .Très propre avec tout le nécessaire pour passer un délicieux séjour. La région est magnifique. Les propriétaires nous ont fait parvenir des indications très précieuses. Ils ont été de très bons conseils pour les restaurants alentours, les marchés,les excursions avec mise à disposition de documents concernant la région. Impossible dêtre déçu...

Historic charm in a rural hideaway. Ideal for independent travellers who want to get away from it all, with amenities are close by (a car is essential). The multi-levelled house has its own historic charm, tucked away in the ancient walls of the mediaeval village of Virgoletta, but all mod cons are provided. There are some local restaurants if you want to take a break from self-catering. The balcony is the place from which to experience the peaceful ambience of Lunigiana, perhaps while sipping red wine, nestled in the wooded hills with the awesome backdro p of the mountains, and swifts swooping around.

Fantastic Apartment This is a lovely apartment in a fantastic setting. The terrace has fabulous views and plenty of space for sunbathing, dining and just enjoying the scenery. Some great local restaurants and a short walk to the local town where the swimming pool is a must to cool off in the summer. The bakery in the village is great for fresh bread and pizza .The house is charming,clean, well maintained and well fitted out with plenty of space, we had a brilliant holiday here and will definitely love to visit again

We would highly recommend this house to anyone who wants to get away from it all. The locals are friendly, the property is well equipped and the view from the balcony stunning. Due to the location of the house, you need a car but that is a bonus as it means you can travel to other nearby places of interest and make the most of your time in this wonderful country! The owners are very professional and they provide excellent customer service and value for money. If you want to get away from it all and experience traditional Italian life, then this is the place for you!

Very comfortable & well equiped property with lovely views from the balcony. Very quaint village, great location & easy to travel around & explore. Lots of helpful information provided. Makes a perfect & relaxing break, would most definitely recommend it!!

Il Tinello was well equipped and was the perfect get-away, with it's beautiful views and olde worlde village.
