Have just got back from essaouira (still in Marrakech) and remembering the great week we had at Tigmi Mzine. The house was stylish, comfortable and had everything we needed and more - above our expectations. Handy for all local shopping, including fresh quality produce and good cheap local restaurants.
Hassan met us from the bus, showed us to the house and made us welcome. As 4 women travelling alone we felt completely safe in the house and in the Medina, we found the locals charming and friendly and can recommend the lovely cafe and bakery at the end of the Alleyway.
A little haven within the Medina, we thoroughly recommend it and hope to return some day....

This was a wonderful holiday destination for our family (including children aged 7 and 10). The property was spotlessly clean and a beautiful design. We particularly loved the roof terrace and the open fire. Located in the heart of the medina yet in a quiet street we were able to pop out easily for our daily supplies and shopping yet felt in a quiet haven as soon as we entered the door. It was an ideal location. The kids liked their rooms, and the housekeeper and Alison were really friendly and helpful. Any arrangements we made i.e with her taxi recommendation and housekeeper were smooth and easy. Anything we asked for they were happy to help with in an easy going and no fuss manner: we had everything we required during our stay. Essaouira itself was an exciting holiday destination. We found the house great value, it lived up to all our expectations and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to anyone I meet. Thank you for a special holiday.

We stayed in Essaouira during the Easter period 2012 and had a wonderful time. Tigmi Mzine is a charming place to stay with a wonderful roof top terrace to have breakfast, while away the afternoon with a good book or indulge in some fantastic Moroccan wine as the sun is setting on the Moroccan horizon. We arrived quite late about 9.45 as we drove down from Casablanca and the owner, Allison, met us without hesitation. Allison was very helpful indeed, suggesting good restaurants etc., and pointing us in the right direction to the alcohol shop! Allison also kindly greeted us with a bottle of red Moroccan wine, which was lovely. On that subject, we both thought the wine was of very good quality and that in itself is worth a visit! We had planned to travel round the area and even visit Marrakech but we didnt, and spent virtually all our time in Essaouira. Some very impressive works of art there and great African masks, which I collect. We did visit the co-operative Amal in Tamanar, south of Essaouira and bought some Argan oil products whilst also watching the women make it. Wonderful! Jane and I also visited the Hamman Lalla Mira which is 2 minutes walk away. I highly recommend Tigmi Mzine. Also, thank you to Hassan for popping round to see us.

Tigmi Mzine was a lovely place to stay right in the heart of the Medina, close to shops, restaurants, market stalls and everything you could possibly need while staying in Essaouira. The house has plenty of space with a great kitchen for trying your hand cooking tagines, a lovely open fire place and a brilliant rooftop for watching the sunset and eating meals. Allison and Hassan were always on call to help in whatever way they could to ensure our stay was happy and comfortable. Really miss being there and hope to be back one day soon, if you want to relax and feel comfortable I highly recommend staying at Tigmi Mzine, was a lovely experience.

I came to this beautiful house with my partner and 3 friends. We were all absolutely delighted with the house.
The interior design is charming and inspiring, we enjoyed spending time cooking and lounging on the roof top terrace.
The houses location in the center of the medina means you are in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the town, close to the markets and the souks, while being a haven of peace and tranquility inside.
I would recommend this house anyone wishing to experience Essaouira.
Allison was extremely helpful with organising taxis and getting us installed in the house.
My birthday couldnt have been spent in a better place... )

The house is good, looks just like the photos on the website.
However I did not like the way to go to the house. Very dirty and narrow lanes. The sun terrace is nice but the surroundings are very dull.
So this house in an other part of Essouira would be perfect.
Owner reply:
Unfortunately I think Jan and his wife, from what they have said in their review, were more disappointed with Essaouira (Morocco) than the house itself. Most of the little lanes in the medina are narrow and often dirty. This is a real, wonderfully authentic medina populated mainly by local Moroccans who, as most of us might know, have a very different idea of street tidiness to Europeans. As for not liking the view I am sorry to hear this. Fortunately most people - guests, locals and ex-pats think the view is really wonderful. I guess it is a question of expectations and comparisons with Europe. Essaouira is what it is - not prefect, but this is one of its charms. It is so different from Europe that with an open mind and tolerant attitude most people find it exciting, extremely interesting and very enjoyable. Jan does give their stay in my house an overall mark of Fair - 3, but unfortunately Villarenter's marking system gives it an overall of 1. I am sorry these guests of mine did not enjoy their stay in Essaouira as much as they had hoped, but fortunately their case is an exception ( a first) and not a rule. Allison

"A very nice bright house/riad, cosy and comfortably furnished with everything you might need. High standards are applied for the furnishment. Lovely roof-terrace, absolutely private. Lots of space, perfect for 3-6 persons. The riad is situated in a quiet part of the medina (next to Bab Marrakech). Everything (shops, restaurants, beach, harbor) is nearby. Parking lot nearby, where also taxis are available (5 minutes walk). We liked the warm welcome of the proprietor, the central spot of the riad and the possibility to get to know the moroccan culture."

"The house lives up to its description, fully equipped and very relaxing atmosphere. Being a newly rebuilt property it lacks a touch of medina authenticity, but more than makes up for it in perfectly working plumbing and fresh decorations. The owner is very friendly and helpful, making our stay even more pleasant. Thanks Allison!"

"J’ai beaucoup aimé cette maison et je ne manquerai pas d’y revenir pour des tas de raisons parmi lesquelles son emplacement privilégié dans la médina, et surtout le goût "design" très proche du mien (les photos reflètent fidèlement la réalité) avec lequel la propriétaire a meublé et décoré chaque étage. Cest un vrai plaisir de loger dans un endroit comme ça!"

A fantastic house, cleverly and attractively designed to be spacious and light. Right in the heart of old Essaouira, there are great views across the town from the sheltered roof terrace and plenty of restaurants and markets a short walk away.
Allison, the homes owner, was an amazing host, making sure we had everything we needed, helping to arrange taxis and smoothing out any potential difficulties on our whole trip.
Highly recommended.

Essouarria, well named “Beautiful Place”…
We arrived in the heart of the Medina, vibrant, colourful, timeless, ancient, exciting, mystical, magical and pungent a walled city port gateway to Timbuktu.
Shopping locally cooking happily in a well-appointed kitchen and climbing to the roof terrace to lie in the sun or later looking at the clear night sky Venus and Co waiting for the first sighting of the new moon to signal the end of Ramadan. Every day a transport of delight!
A brilliantly crafted yet luxuriously simple house.
Nothing too much but everything you might need we had it made!
Definitely go back as soon as possible.
What else can we praise?
A most warm and friendly owner helpful in every way, attentive informative and caring.

Centrally located off a side street in the medina, this house offers a very welcome refuge from the outside world. We loved being right in the centre of things - just moments from all the shopping and hustle and bustle of Essaouira. The roof terrace was wonderful - we spent many happy hours up there enjoying the late October sunshine, quietly reading. A much recommended retreat!

Beautifull house in the center of Essaouira with all you need for a great time in town!
Upon arrival in Essaouira we met with Hassan who took us to the house and gave us the keys. we stayed for 5 nights, and the owner Alisson came to check if everything was OK as well.
It was worth the money, we were with 5 and we were really comfortable.
The houes is very nicely decorated, very new but with a very nice and friendly morrocan / western style that makes you feel at home. The advantage about having 3 storeys is that everybody can have his own space if you feel like it, and at the same time there´s a very nice living room to be together, make some nice food and just enjoy the house. The terrace is also great to relax and have some drinks. Everything is very complete, so you can actually live there for longer than a few days.

Stylish, comfortable and suprisingly spacious accommodation.
All mod cons and great location within the medina.
Friendly owner who along with her mum was a valuable source of information about the local area.
Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful, well presented and charming house which was over and above our expectations. The owner couldnt have been more helpful especially as we had major problems due to the dreaded volcano. The photos, although good, dont really do the property justice. Its far larger than it looks and the terrace is out of this world and not overlooked. I cant recommend this house enough!

This property was fabulous. We cannot say enough good things about the place, the city or the owners. The property was exatcly what was described as and the pictures did not do the property justice. Most helpful owner who helped with any questions we had about the house or the city. Cannot say enough good things, was an essential part of making our vacation as memorable as it was. Good location, good amenities, lots of stairs but the terrace is phenomenal with great sun exposure and privacy.

an excellent location, many modern features, yet still with a traditional moroccan feel, clean and fresh, warm and homely. The owner was helpful and on hand with solutions to problems bothrelated and unrelated to the property, it was the cheapest and best of 3 propertieswe stayed in during a short tour of the area (also taking in marrakech and taghazhout)
