The other side of the road is the enchanting little Kabilla Marina, to the left of which stretch miles of wide golden beaches. It has an excellent restaurant, where you can sip a cold drink and watch the yachts come and go.
AREA
This is the best stretch of Mediterranean Morocco, even the king has his summer palace just down the road! The golden beaches stretch for miles and the water of the warm sea is crystal clear.
In one direction is the large and glamorous Marina Smirr, with sophisticated restaurants, shops and water sports and a wonderful thalassotherapby centre in a major hotel. Also nearby is a Water Park with immense tubes to slide down and fun- fair attractions.
4km in the other direction is M'Diq, a fascinating seaside town where the fishing boats still bring back fresh fish daily. There are restaurants and cafes and many small street stalls where you can sit and watch the world go by while eating a simple but delicous meal of fresh fish or lamb kebab. Fresh food straight from the grower can be bought in the market, there are also banks and pharmacist and small shops.
A couple of km further on is Cabo Negro, with the renowned Royal Golf Course- where you can hire clubs, if necessary- and play on their 18 holes beautiful links. Club Med, down the road, can be enjoyed on a day ticket, taking their sailing boats and pedalos onto the crystal clear waters. There is an excellent horse riding stables at La Ferma neaby - go for an evening gallop along the sea, or perhaps the children would like a riding lesson at their model farm.
At Martil, a large seaside resort 3km further along the beach, there is a summer festival mid June to August, camel rides, jugglers, a great deal of fun.
Tetouan, the regional capital 25 minutes from Kabilla, has a medina that is so untouched it is a designated World Heritage Area - what Marrakesch used to be like before all the tourists! We can recomend an excellent qualified guiede to show you all the hidden places. Outside the Medina the white city reflects its Spanish heritage.
A couple of hours away is the blue mountain village of Chefchaoun, which has been voted the top place to visit in all Morocco. The drive through the hills is just magical, especially in the spring when flowers carpet the hillsides.
Visit Tangier, a town with layers of fascinating history, Assilah, town of the arts -or the Spanish enclave of Ceuta for a completly different culture, huge nautical water park, duty free shopping and night time tapas bars. From Ceuta you could take a day trip to Gibraltar - it is only a 3/4 hour trip over the med - or r a helcopter ride to Malaga for some Spanish paella!
The possiblities are endless, you will never get bored in this fascinating and vibrant area with its friendly welcoming people. Whether is is leisure and relaxing, with a huge choice of different foods to experience, birdwatching (this area is where the migrating birds pass on their way from Africa to Europe) exploring the exotic and historic Moroccan culture, or a combination of all, this is the place to be!
