A large well-equipped & furnished Dutch farmhouse dating from 1890 located in centre of peaceful Diever village.
Accommodation comprises:
1 double bedroom (ground floor) with TV / DVD-player
3 twin bedrooms with washbasin / 1 single bedroom (all on first floor)
Large shower room (ground floor)
2 WCs (ground and first floors)
Utility Room with iron / board, washing-machine / dishwasher.
Kitchen / dining-area (complete with 4-ring gas stove / electric grill-oven / microwave grill-oven / fridge-freezer / toaster)
Large living-room with TV (incl. English-language channels) / DVD-player & DVDs / video / radio-CD & CDs
Childrens toys/board-games, plus cots / highchairs & playpen available
All bed linen & towels provided (bath & kitchen). All beds are made up prior to your arrival
Ample off-street parking.
For your use there ia a private patio with chairs, tables & parasol supplied, plus gardens with a trampoline (shared).
A BBQ & a tumble-dryer available
Bicycle-hire available locally (can also be arranged before arrival), with storage onsite
Guests have exclusive use of the front farmhouse which adjoins the British/Dutch owners property. The house is entirely self-contained with two entrances for full privacy.
Located on the edge of the Drents-Friese Wold (6100 hectares), one of the biggest national parks of the Netherlands, with 32 marked walks & numerous cycle paths.
Also situated close by to National Park Dwingelderveld (3692 hectares) - the largest moorland on the European Continent - with its 60 kms of walking trails & 40 kms of bicycle paths.
Local activities in this area of outstanding natural beauty include walking, bicycling, horseriding and birdwatching. Sailing & fishing can be enjoyed at Giethoorn (the Venice of the North).
The provincial capital at Assen is just 25 minutes away. While Emmen (with its world-famous zoo), the city of Groningen (shop till you dro p) & the German border are all less than an hours drive away.
For the children, there are 18 funparks in the surrounding area. And more than 25 museums will provide an interest to each member of the family (yes, there is even a museum of comic books!) Then there is Diever village itself ... its restaurants, cafes, shops & supermarket ... its 14th Century church ... & famously renowned for the open-air productions of Shakespeare which have been re-enacted in its forest amphitheatre every Summer since 1946.
Diversity on your doorstep: Diever is placed at the crossroads of three provinces - Drenthe, Overijssel and Friesland - all uniquely different to one another. So when you are in Drenthe, why not discover Friesland and Overijssel provinces as well - the borders lie just 15 minutes away by car!
So, whether its picknicking in the forest, taking a dip in a forest bathing pool or going by horseback along one of the many marked trails, you wont be disappointed by this areas rich heritage, its welcoming, English-speaking people and its unending choice of excursions and attractions.

Diever is easily accessible by car from the following airports in the Netherlands:
Amsterdam Schiphol (2 hours), Rotterdam Zestienhoven (2 hours), Eindhoven (2 hours) & Groningen Eelde (30 minutes)
Most major international airlines serve Amsterdam, including the national carrier, KLM (and partners) from most cities

Due to our proximity to Germany, Duesseldorf Weeze (just over the German border by Nijmegen) is only 90 minutes away. Ryanair flies to Weeze from Birmingham, Edinburgh & London Stansted
If you are travelling by ferry to the Netherlands, Diever is approximately a 2-hour drive from all 3 main port.
These include Rotterdam Europort (P&O Ferries from Hull), the Hoek of Holland (Stena Line from Harwich) & Amsterdam/Ijmuiden (DFDS Seaways from Newcastle).
Also, Transeuropa Ferries has a service to Oostende (in Belgium) from Ramsgate (Kent) with very competitive fares as well as a shorter crossing time.
A car is recommended (rental cars also available at the above airports). The towns of Hoogeveen (20 minutes), Assen (25 minutes), Emmen (45 minutes) & the city of Groningen (40 minutes) are easily accessible
Public transport (bus) is just a few minutes walk away with links to the surrounding villages and towns.
The nearest train station is at Beilen (20 minutes away) with direct services to Groningen (30 minutes) & Amsterdam Airport (2 hours).
