Villa Gecko

Villa Gecko is located at Jardim da Bensafrim, which is a small collection of houses situated in the countryside just off the Lagos to Bensafrim road, about twelve minutes drive north of the town of Lagos. Lagos boasts a fine marina and several beaches, including the magnificent Meia Praia and the pretty Praia Dona Ana, together with a full range of supermarkets, smaller shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.
The villa is single storey and spacious with interestingly contoured ceilings and steps up to the two smaller bedrooms. The kitchen/dining area is very large with patio doors leading onto the terrace overlooking the pool. The kitchen is fully fitted with a gas hob, electric oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. The dining area seats six.

The lounge is well furnished with patio doors opening onto the pool terrace. There is a log burner, satellite TV (limited channels), DVD and music centre with plenty of tapes, DVDs, books and games for the client's use. The master bedroom has a double bed, en suite shower room and patio doors to the pool terrace. The two other bedrooms are both twin bedded and share a large bathroom. The house is fully air conditioned.

The pool is approximately 10m x 5m and is surrounded by terracing. Lawn, flower beds and fruit trees such as orange, lemon and grapefruit lie to one side of the house and ample loungers and table/chairs are provided for outside dining and your relaxation.

A car is essential as Jardim da Bensafrim is a quiet countryside location. However, it is only a few minutes drive to all the amenities of Lagos: the choice of activities and places to visit and explore in this area is exceptional and it makes a good base from which to explore the more remote areas of the Western Algarve.

The villa is in a quiet area but you may hear occasional noise. It has a private west facing swimming pool, a garden, a west facing patio area, panoramic views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking.

The villa was fabulous, even better than we expected. It was very clean and well maintained. It had all the facilities we required and our request was an extra sun lounger was responded to immediately. We loved the countryside location. For 5 stressed out women, the peace and tranquility was heaven. Lagos was a lovely place to visit, as were the the beach and reservoir we went to. A car is essential but driving around Portugal was no problem. We even managed to negotiate the gates that other occupants had a problem with. We would thoroughly recommend this property and, if we return to Portugal, would not hesitate to stay there again.

Villa Gecko is a great base for exploring the area. It has all the things we needed for a relaxing break. Lagos is close enough for provisons and the beach. The main road is quite close but that just makes the journey time quicker from airport to pool ! The villa itself is clean, comfortable and roomy, the kitchen is wonderful and having your own pool makes it very special. I have recommended it to friends and family, and those that have been, also enjoyed themselves immensely.

Villa Ghecko is almost a home from home. We have been going back for about 8 years now. Always comfortable and plenty of room even for a party of six or more. Standards of cleanliness are high and the pool is a particular bonus. Big enough to have really good swim and always kept well. The Gardenns have matured nicely and there is a lot of space around the villa. Hardly overlooked at all. All in all a real pleasure and something to look forward to in the cold winter English nights

My family and I have had many excellent holidays at Villa Gecko. The real test of a villa is whether you want to return to it, and we have been there several times, and would recommend it with out hesitation to anybody who is looking for a peaceful and restful holiday. The fact that it is situated just outside Lagos, means that your get the peace and quiet of the countryside and easy access to the tourist areas if you want to. That way it suits parents who want the peace, and children who want the bustle of the tourist areas.
