Bigastro is a lovely area, very spanish in the town but extremely welcoming, not too great if you dont know anyone in the area but the villas in this area that appear on this website are managed by a lovely english couple who will take you under their wing and let you know where everything is, there are a few english couples living there full time and all are extremely friendly.  there are lovely beaches within 10-15 minutes but you definitely need a car as the town itself is a bit of a trek with children.  If you go in the height of summer though, there is no need to even leve the poolside!!
