We had a very relaxing fortnight. The villa is on Calle Arrecife and easily spotted with its Villa Ruby sign. Calle Arrecife is a cul-de-sac so has little traffic and there is a great HipoDino supermarket around the corner. The accomodation is very comfortable and the heated pool was great for a swim on hot days. Few cleaning materials were provided when we arrived but this was easily remedied for a few euros. You may need a vegetable peeler, which is peladora in Spanish. The villa service staff were helpful, efficient and pleasant.
Playa Blanca centre is a pleasant thirty? minute stroll along the seafront walkway, passing through the Marina, where there are good restaurants. Some of the places in Playa Blanca serve very poor food. We would avoid the Harp Bar and the Tipico Italian on Avenida Papagayo in future.
Local exchange rates from the shop at the bottom of Av. Papagayo were more favourable than those at home gaining a few extra euros per £100.
We didnt hire a car and used the excellent bus service from the local bus stop. Taking a bus to Playa Blanca from the airport via Arrecife will save you around 40 euros. Buy a Bono bus ticket for 12 euros and you can use it for several journeys. We used Last Minute Travel for our trip to Teguises colourful Sunday market.
We spent an afternoon on the beach at Arrecife which is about fifty yards from the bus stop whilst waiting for our night flight back to the UK.
A great holiday, great Spanish people (take a phrasebook and try some Spanish - we had a great laugh at times) and we would go back without a doubt.

Unfortunately there was an unexpected problem with the plumbing when we arrived. However Linda the property manager immediately resolved this without fuss. We were accommodated in another property in the same area
The other property was superior and we had a great holiday

Stayed for 10 days in September 2010. We arrived late in the evening and found the villa with ease. The sat nav took us right to the door.
The villa was very clean with pretty much everything you need. First thing we noticed was how quiet the street was, which made it the perfect place to enjoy and relax with a drink by the pool at night.
The villa itself was roomy, clean, comfortable and we could not not have asked for anything more.
Out and about on foot there is a supermarket on the corner of the street which has pretty much everything you would need! There is a small bar next door to that and a car/bike/pushbike rental place next door to that.
There is a big hotel a few minutes walk away which is great if you book any trips because the coaches pick you up from here.
There is a taxi rank opposite the supermarket.
A little further on foot to the left (about 10 mins walk)is another supermarket with a great fresh fish counter! There is a couple of bars and resturants which are very good and fantastic value for money.
In the opposite direction is Puerto Rubicon which is about 10 to 15 mins walk along a lovely footpath overlooking the coast line. Rubicon has a wide choice of bars and resturants with shops selling local handcrafted items and clothes to suit all tastes.
Prices Rubicon are a little pricey however it is well worth having a meal at night looking out over the Marina, its a lovely place to be.
Playa blanca cost us about £3.50 in a taxi at night and has lots of bars, shops and places to eat. Playa Blanca is more lively and you will find pretty much anything you want to eat there.
Out and about in the daytime.. We had a car for the duration of our stay and it was fantastic. If you are not looking to explore the island yourself then there is really no need to hire a car as the villa is in a great central location. However if you are like us and wanted to get out and about everyday exploring, then a car is a cheap and easy way to do it. Driving is very relaxed and its easy to navigate around. (never used the sat nav once, after arriving at the villa) We explored the whole island with ease and found some amazing sites.
The drive to Papagayo beach is great fun across the dirt tracks and is a must.
The island itself seemed very safe. We left the roof down on the car most of the time with no trouble. Very relaxing to walk about both at day and night.
Days and nights in.. What can i say. Relaxing by the pool was just the best. Really comfy sunbeds and the pool was warm and just what you need when the sun gets a bit too much. Table and chair outside were perfect for relaxing at night and the BBQ is a brilliant way to enjoy the villa and all it has to offer.
All in all we had an amazing time at Villa Ruby and would return tomorrow if we could. I would recommend this to everyone.
Go on treat yourself. You will not be disappointed. Loved every minute of it!
Thank you very much for letting us stay at Villa Ruby.

Quality and comfort of the apartment was superb.
Lovely and quiet location but still convenient for shop, beech, restaurants if you dont mind walking.
Couldnt work TV in bedroom.
Only small amount of toilet roll provided which was disapointing as everything else needed was kitted out perfectly.
Light outside door needs fixing.
Loved our stay, would definately stay again.

We stayed 06-11 to 20-11 -08
The villa was every thing we expected clean and well maintained. The area was lovely and not to busy, you get into bars and restaurants no problem. Easy 20 minute walk to Purto Rubicon
Marina a further 20 to Playa Blanca, all along a even well lit safe coastal pathway great. Staff who clean and maintain villa were very efficient and friendly.

Villa Ruby is decorated to a high standard and very comfortable. There is a Large TV with a good TV Package (including RTE radio) a CD and a DVD player with a collection of original DVD’s. The patio area has 4 comfortable wooden sun beds with cushions and a table with comfortable chairs. The pool is lovely and warm. The only thing missing in the kitchen is a dishwasher, the only minor complaint, the coffee pot. Two minutes walk from the Villa there is a good supermarket that sells fresh meat, bread etc.. 8.30 am – 10.00 pm. There is a pretty public park across the road from Villa. Cutting through the inner roads a brisk 10 minute walk will bring you to Marina Rubicon and lots of good restaurants, if you take the coastal walkway via the side of Iberostar Papagayo Hotel it will take 15 to 20 minutes, but the views are much nicer. A taxi ride from the rank in front of the supermarket to the centre of Playa Blanca costs 3.40 Euros approx daytime and 4.40 Euros approx at night-time . I would happily to recommend Villa Ruby to anybody and hope to stay here again
