Review by Tom from Dunfermline
Puerto del Carmen offers the charm of the Old Town and the lively resaurants and night life of the main strip, which is a least two miles long. There are three beaches offering facilities for all ages. There are many water sports ranging from diving to deap sea fishing. If you are not enargetic you can relax on one of the well managed beaches. Local transport is good with buses running to other resorts. There are lots of taxis available in town, which can be handy due to the fact that while the main strip is flat the town itself is quite hilly. Normally I would say Puerto del Carmen is an alll year around destination however there is a great deal of disruption at the moment due to the extistence road works along the front and the extesion of the harbour wall at the Old Town. I would recommend that Playa Blanca might be a better alternative until the disruption is over. The harbour work is scheduled to end in May 09 but I suspect the major roadwoks might extend into the summer.
