Owners overview
The southern Costa Blanca has everything
A superb two bedroom, detached Villa on a new development known as "El Raso" set in the heart of the "Parc Natural de la Mata y Torrevieja" and overlooking the Salt Lake itself.
The location is close enough to the local towns of Guardamar & Torrevieja and all the facilities but it is well away from the crowds and still close to the sea & sand of the Costa Blanca. The beach at Guardamar is one of the longest on the Costa Blanca. It is also tantalisingly close to the Golf courses of Villamartin, Campoamor & Las Ramblas and even closer to the newer courses of La Finca at Algorfa and La Marquesa at Quesada.
We consider a car is essential but we can book that for you if you wish.
A local shop provides all the necessities including fresh crusty bread and uk newspapers in the morning while a full shop is available in Guardamar – Mercadona (Quality supermarket) or alternatives such as Consum and Lidl towards Quesada.
A motorway is only a few minutes away and can get you to all points on the Costa Blanca very quickly, going north to Benidorm with the theme park of Terra Mitica or South to Cartegena (where Hannibal started his long walk across the alps!). The Towns of Crevillente (centre of the Carpet industry and Shoes) is on the way to Alicante which is just over half an hour away.
Enjoy the beautiful Spanish Climate
The Villa faces west so you have the afternoon sun right into the evening on the front terrace which also has a sensible sized patio table & chairs set as we expect you’ll probably eat “al fresco” most of the time.
Inside the Villa is fully air conditioned (living area and bedrooms) so you can escape from the sun if it gets too hot.
From the front terrace you enter the lounge /dining area.
The lounge has a leather sofa with two chairs & a coffee table, TV. The 28" widescreen TV has a freesat receiver and currently receives over 80 uk TV channels & many radio stations to keep you in touch.
In the dining area there is a stylish table and four chairs for “dining in”.
The spacious American style kitchen has an electric oven, ceramic hob, tall fridge freezer and all the accessories youd expect, electric kettle, toaster and now filtered water on tap..
Adjoining the kitchen, in the utility, there is a washing machine, iron & ironing board, a second fridge for cold drinks.
Both bedrooms are air-conditioned but if you prefer, they also have ceiling fans. Fitted wardrobes with a combination of hanging space, shelves and drawers and full length mirrors are in both bedrooms.
The master bedroom on the first floor is equipped with a king-sized (5’) bed and Mexican style furniture.
The main bathroom on the first floor has a bath with a thermostatic multifunction shower over. By its position it’s virtually en-suite.
The solarium is also accessed from the first floor and has a small patio table with 4 chairs.
The second bedroom, on the ground floor, has twin beds and pine furniture. The downstairs bathroom is adjacent and has a large shower enclosure also with thermostatic multifunction shower.
Both bathrooms are fully tiled and have fitted vanity units.
The front garden is enclosed, and has trees and shrubs and a gated driveway for parking.
The terrace has a patio table & chairs.
A large open air community pool is generously sized, and is available for exclusive use of residents and guests at no extra charge. The main pool varies in depth from 1.2mtrs to 1.8mtrs (4-6 ft approx) with a childrens pool attached and surrounded by a grassed garden area with a variety of trees. It’s about 100 mtrs away from the Villa so no noise! Please read the pool rules before use!.
Bed linen and some towels are provided, but guests will need to bring to bring any extra towels & their own pool/beach towels.
The Villa will be cleaned between stays and prepared for your visit but we ask that you leave it reasonably clean. Additional cleaning can be requested and paid for locally as can a change of bed linen but you can also use the washing machine if you need to.
The area has everything you need for a fantastic holiday
The beaches to the north of Torrevieja are long and shallow and in common with most Costa Blanca Beaches are awarded the coveted "Blue Flag" each year for facilities and water quality.
Guardamar de Segura (the closest town) is a smallish typically Spanish Coastal town and is about 4 km away. It lies on the River Segura and enjoys an enviable coastal position.
The town has a wonderful landscaped park where you can sit and relax, long sandy beaches and a large coastal pine forest. The Dunas de Guardamar cover an area of over 800 hectares, running parallel to the coast. They are sand deposits left by the Segura River and the Sea and at one time the threat of the town being covered by sand was a real possibility,For this reason the huge expanse of pine forest was planted in the early 1900s.
The beaches of Guardamar are some of the finest in the region, where the sand dunes continue down to the beautiful crystal clear waters. The beaches Centro, La Roqueta and El Moncayo are the nearest to the town and all possess the European blue flag award, There is also a nudist beach at Los Tusales.
The history of Guardamar dates from the 10th century, where it was inhabited by the Moors and the castle is an interesting monument. Historical remains can be seen, of particular interest is the Iberian settlement of Cabezo Lucero, where La Dama de Guardamar (Lady of Guardamar) was found dating from the 4th century BC.
Local fiestas are celebrated in Guardamar year round. The main festivals are in Holy Week (Easter), on the 21st June the "Planta" de las Hogueras are celebrated where bonfires are lit in the town and fireworks explode from the castle. The Moors and Christians is the most popular summer festival celebrated in the second Sunday in July and in honour of Saint James, the people of Guardamar dress as Moorish warriors and Christian troops and parade through the streets to the castle where fireworks are exploded. In September and October the fiesta in honour of the "Virgin of Fatima and Rosario" are celebrated. They are a wonderful opportunity to take part in traditional Spanish custom and are a colourful and fun way to spend an evening.
The local market day is Wednesday Morning in the town and on Sundays there is a very large market in the Campo de Guardamar which adjoins the Urbanisation which is a 10 minute walk from the villa. You can enjoy a drink & a snack or a meal in the semi-permanent catering area –German, Spanish, English etc.
Local entertainment and restaurants are closest in Guardamar or Quesada but Torrevieja is only a few minutes more.
