Alan and Rhoda were excellent hosts, always ready to assist whilst at the same time respecting our privacy. The villa apartment is a credit to the owners, it was immaculate and very well presented. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and unreservedly recommend the villa to those looking for a peaceful, relaxing stay in the sun.
We also stayed on board Alan and Rhodas motor cruiser in Alicante Marina - this was a fun two days, well worth doing if you like the water and sipping a nice glass of Chablis off the back of a boat.

Just came back from spending a week in Villa Raquel 13-20 June had a very relaxing week. Alan & Rhoda made us feel very welcome and was on hand to answer any queries we may have had, although they live upstairs you would never know. This villa is well worth the money very spacious and it has every thing that you would need to enjoy your holiday.It truly was home from home.

We stayed at Villa Raquel 4-9 April and found it to be a very enjoyable experience. The overview and facilties description is accurate in how it confers a very well presented, clean and modern villa, as well as its location and local amenities/attractions.
Although we went out of season, there was still enough to do for our family (2 adults + 2 children (5 and 15 months)) both locally and within taxi distance (we dont drive) during the week. We even braved the pool despite the relatively mild weather!
Alan was a welcoming host, always happy to offer a restaurant recommendation or advice on any questions we might have. He also went out of his way to pick up a high-chair which was greatly appreciated (thanks again Alan...although I didnt check whether there was a cheese grater so if there is the 20 Euros is in the post!).
We would recommend this property to friends with similar party size and composition, or to older parents/couples looking for a quiet, relaxing break. You would have to go a long way to find a different, better property in this region, in our opinion.

Thanks guys for the very honest review. You both fully appreciate how important feedback is to us (and to future guests) and so it´s great to see not one negative comment......and guess what? I even went straight down to the kitchen and took a photo of the cheese grater in situ, so photographic evidence can be produced on request ;-).

The villa is far better than we expected. It is very well appointed inside and out. Everything is good quality, and the kitchen is very well equipped. It is also a lot more spacious inside than we expected the pictures do not do it justice. It is without doubt one of the most relaxing and quiet places we have stayed. The owners are also very helpful and have a great knowledge of the local and surrounding areas.
Could do with stepping stones/walkway between pool and patio but that is the only comment I would make as an improvement.
Dont hesitate to book here if you can get in

My family and I spent a luxuriously relaxing forthnight at Villa Raquel, which we found to be everything that was shown and a little bit more.
Ideally lcoated (but a car really necessary) for beach, town and eating out - there was something for us all - even our 3 month old grandson (who almost sulked when he got home!).
Would recommend this villa to any family looking for peace, relaxation and homely comforts.

At the risk of repeating everything that everyone else has said, Id just like to add my own recommendation to the huge pile they already have.
Villa Raquel is as nice, if not better than, it seems in the pictures. I was amazed when I walked in and realised that all this was ours for a week, from the huge lounge and kitchen through to the pool and barbecue area. Its the little touches that make it, from the provision of travel adaptors to the honesty bar in the kitchen. Alan (Rhoda wasnt around the week we stayed) was the epitome of discretion, yet very helpful whenever required.
For anyone contemplating booking with kids - we came with an 18 month old, and I dont know if we could have found anywhere more child-friendly. Admittedly you have to keep them away from the pool, but that would be the case wherever you are the gravel surround kept her at bay most of the time. Its probably worth knowing that the pool is a little colder than you might expect (at least in May), but it was perfect for cooling off after a day in the sun.
Id be quite happy to stay here again in fact Im really rather tempted by the idea.

The previous 4 years, guests have been quite comfortable in the pool come April.......Guess that´s just the weather! Sorry again for this late review...Myself & two friends stayed at this beautiful Villa in May & could not ask for more...From the time we arrived, Alan & Rhoda could not be more welcoming! They had even e-mailed me directions beforehand to get from the Airport to the Villa in Spanish, which was a great help! The Villa is lovely & kitted with everything you need, Alan even took us to the Supermarket when we arrived & they were also so kind to recommend us some lovely restaurants & also were kind to take us to them in the evening. Although they are living upstairs, you would not think so at all, you were left alone, yet when you had a question re anything, they were there to help. The Villa was immacuate too. Was very good value for money & would definately recommend to a friend, my sister & her family are considering booking for next year & my friend has already booked up again for this Sep. Alan & Rhoda, thank you very much for making our stay very pleasant & welcoming.

Sorry this is a bit late! We stayed at this Beautiful villa in April for 9 days and i wish i had booked the whole 2 weeks! This is the best villa ive stayed in and i was really sad to have to leave on the last day.
We were made to feel really welcome by Alan and Rhoda and although they live above youd never know they were there but when we did see them they were very thoughtful asking if there was anything we needed and to be honest everything we needed was there! I would recommend getting the welcome pack that the guys offer as it makes life easier when you arrive knowing youve got the essentials there . there was a few nice little surprises when we got there and we looked through the cupboards but you can see what that is when you get there :) I took my own hair dryer but there was no need as there was 2 in the villa so its one less thing to pack! everything was really well thought out all the little touches were great and if i could go back tomorrow i would! I have to say as well that the pictures dont do the villa justice!
My 5yr old daughter has said that she wants all of our holidays to be here she absolutely loved it. And loved rabbiting to Alan and Rhoda every time she spotted them sorry about that guys.....
You do really need a car as theres loads of places to go and see and explore, There are quite a few bars and restaurants just 5 mins down the road and we ate in a few of them and all were really fab food and great prices too! all very welcoming which is always nice :) to be honest we could of gone out for dinner every night locally and not got bored! we did go down the coast a good few times as we all love seafood and it always tastes its best near the sea.
I could go on loads about how amazing the place was but im sure you get the message , my only compliant is that im here in Birmingham instead of sunny Spain staying in this lovely Villa...We will be back thats for sure thats if we can get a booking as ive recommended this place to all my friends and clients

our stay was fantastic. the villa is absolutely beautiful. very spacious in every room, with great deco through out. very well maintained. we had a very warm welcome from the owners, told us everything we needed to know about the villa and surrounding area. great neighbourhood, quiet and very friendly, wide variety of nice restaurants and bars. supermarkets and shops are no more then a few minutes away.
the villa had more then enough to do without actually having to leave, i was with my girlfriend and we were 21, we actually spent most of the time in the villa, its a lovely place to relax and take a dip in the pool, which is massive. this is a very good place not only for couples but is family friendly too. even though the owners are up stairs you couldnt ask for anymore privacy, we actually forgot they were there half way through our stay :) it is also a bonus to have them there incase you ever needed anything. Alan was kind enough to take us to the nearest city to shop and even drive us back to the airport. very much appreciated, thanks. over all we brilliant stay 12 out of ten. the two cats were great company and very entertaining.
also tricia missed the cats so much we bought two ginger cat teddys.

Villa-Raquel is absolutely without a doubt the nicest villa we have ever stayed at. It ticks all the boxes, its clean, modern, has everything you could imagine for all ages. It’s the perfect location close to all amenities. We are looking forward to going back for the third time this summer.
We would definatley recommend this villa to family and friend.

The Villa was everything we hoped it would be. Spotlessy clean and very quiet area.

A little bit of luxury in very secure surroundings. Owners could not be more helpful, location good, close enough to main facilities without being amongst them. Great area for getting about and exploring with hire car.

We absolutely loved this villa, it had everything you could possibly need. We had such a good time there, we loved the huge swimming pool and the outside seating area. The BBQ was really good to have use of, we used it nearly every night. You couldn’t ask for anything more with this villa. We were a little hesitant to book this villa as you had the owners on the same grounds but you couldn’t ask for more privacy. Rhoda & Alan were brilliant and you wouldn’t even know they lived upstairs but were there in case we needed anything. So don’t get put off by the owners being on the grounds as you really have the privacy you would expect. We visited the square where the bars & restaurants are as it’s a nice easy walk or it is easy enough to get the taxi number out of the book provided in the villa. We would like to thank Rhoda & Alan for our last day as they really helped us out, what a lovely couple. They adapt to your every need. Thanks again from all the family. Would love to book up again. This villa comes highly recommended for a really chilled out holiday.

beyond expectations. It was immaculate on our arrival. We were greated by the owners who made us feel more like friends than paying guests and they were so helpful throughout our stay. The Pool and Terrace area were amazing so much so that we hardly ventured out into the surrounding areas. We would have no hesitation in recommending the villa to friends and family. More than value for money. We had an excellent stay.

My husband and I took our wee girl abroad for the first time in may this year and with out a doubt it was the best place we could have picked. They helped accomodate us around the ash cloud, made us feel very welcome and we cant wait to book for our next trip.
Katie was only 18months at the time and we found the stones around the pool kept her from going over to the pool by herself. She loved the resident cats, Rhoda helped us by renting a travel cot for her, and as well as the toys we took for her, Allan and Rhoda have a cupboard full of entertainment for both kids and adults! The local restaraunts are child friendly as well as cheap, although we went to the more expensive ones it was still as cheap if not cheaper than a night out at home. ( mainly due to the pound euro exchange at the time )
The Matador was by far our favourite and would recommend it to anyone.
Allan and Rhoda were fantastic hosts, even though they live upstairs, if you did not want to, you wouldnt know they were there, yet they are more than happy to stop by and have a chat. very friendly family.
The only down side for us, was not having a car. There are plenty of things to see and do near by, including a huge weekly market. We just think next time we will book a car for trips to the zoo or other days away from La Marina area. Although i have to say, both Allan and Rhoda did offer to take us to the beach or to the nearby shopping malls which was very kind of them.
This really does feel like a home away from home! The locals even say hi when passing you in the street and i thought that was just lovely, there is genuinly something for everyone here.

We had a wonderful time at Villa Raquel in May! Alan and Rhoda are lovely people who made us feel very much at home. They gave very good information about the surrounding area, what to do & where to eat. Our daughters, aged 11 and 8 loved the house and the pool and the cats. And so did my parents, who came to visit us for a few days. We never go to a holiday house twice but now we are seriously considering going to Villa Raquel again, it was just too good to be true.
The house is absolutely wonderful & very luxurious. And if there’s anything you need and it’s not there, just ask Alan and he’ll say: We have it upstairs, I’ll bring it down for you: paella pan, coffee machine, you name it. Thanks Alan!

This was our 2nd visit to the property this year and once again we were not disappointed. The apartment is equiped to a very high standard meeting all the requirements of a 2 generation family. The owners were on hand to offer advice and assistance but were not intrusive. We would highly recommend this property especially if you are looking for a peaceful holiday but just a short drive from several sandy beaches, shops, restaurants and other wilder activities.

This villa exceeded our expectations.The villa is stunning and has everything and more that you could ever need.
Rhona and Alan are two of the nicest people that you could meet. On arrival they were there to meet us and showed us around the beautifull villa. They gave us lots of tips on where to eat and visit.
The La Marina complex has everything you need, supermarkets, numerous restaurants, chemists, and lovely beaches.
I will definately be returning with my family in the near future. Many thanks to Rhona and Alan for making our holiday so memorable.

Well, what can we say? Excellent all round in terms of accomodation, pool, comfort, amenities, and not least in the welcome and friendliness of Alan, Rhoda, and Rachael. We are quite seasoned travellers and can truthfully say this was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The villa and pool were as good as the photos suggest (a good size pool). We were privileged enough to have Alan, Rhoda and Rachael join us for a meal. Our daughter, Alex, became friends with Rachael. A truly memorable holiday. Its such a pity it has become so popular (tho not surprising), because we would love to return if we can get booked in!!

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at this great apartment, which is beautifully furnished, very clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was also wonderful having such a fabulous pool and spacious covered terrace all to ourselves. There is a good supermarket, several restaurants, and a large twice-weekly market within ten minutes walk. La Marina beach can easily be reached on the local bus or in one of the local taxis, which are reliable and very cheap, so a car is not essential. Owners Alan and Rhoda gave a very warm welcome and were always happy to help with advice and recommendations but were never intrusive. We would fully recommend a holiday here and are looking forward to our next visit.

This was our second time at the apartment, once again 5* plus! We all had a fantastic time, lovely helpful owners give you complete privacy, great sized pool for the kids to play in, ideal for a quiet, relaxing, family holiday. Close to numerous restaurants, small shops & supermarkets, and a gorgeous quiet beach. Very safe area, and great safety of gates/shutters at villa. Highly recommended, thanks for having us to stay again!!

Our family of 5 visited Villa Raquel in February of this year.
We found the villa to be wonderful, very clean and spacious, with everything you could possibly need for a lovely holiday.
The owners Alan and Rhoda, are lovely people, very kind, friendly and helpful.
They have decorated and furnished the villa to a very high standard, it really was very nice being there.....and we even had some warm winter sun, and were able to sit by the beautiful pool.
Our 3 kids had plenty to do, what with the trampoline, table tennis, board games and the pool....yes they went swimming in February!!!!
La Marina beach is stunning with a fabulous beach restaurant...lovely sunny lunches we had, this is reached by car in only 5-10 minutes.

We would recommend this villa to anyone looking for some wonderful peace and quiet. The villa is very modern, comfortable and clean. Everything you need(supermarket & restaurants) is in walking distance so a car is not essential. We have passed on the details to a few friends already. We are planning to go back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Raquel, so much we didnt want to come home. It just felt like home from home. There was 5 adults 1 child and a baby of 4 months staying in the villa and we did not feel on top of each other at all, it was very spacious and has a luxurious feel to it. It was ideal for small children and babies as there is a great shaded terrace to sit and relax. Rhoda and Alan were excellent hosts and always made sure we were ok and had everything we needed, we couldnt have asked for anything else. I think Villa Raquel is excellent value for money and would definitely return. My in laws who came with us have already booked to go back next year.

This villa is superb. The building itself has been done to a very high standard with lovely modern furniture and decoration. Inside it is spacious and spotless. The owners of the villa have thought of every possible need (from beers in the fridge to phone chargers provided).
Outside there is a fabulous pool as well as other entertainments and a choice of eating/ sunbathing areas.
Their description of the location of the property in relation to ammenities is accurate. The bars and restaurants are easy walking distance and there are several good supermarkets nearby. The property is also very easy to get to from Alicante airport (basically a straight road south).
My last point is that it is very secure and private. The villa is surrounded by high walls and locked gates and has good lockable windows and doors. We felt very safe having the owners upstairs who were extremely welcoming and helpful.
We cant wait to go back and would be very surprised if we could find another villa this perfect.

This property was excellant short drive from airport, great for the kids who were well entertain with pool, trampoline, table tennis , football etc. The appartment very clean and every thing you need was there. Great indoor and outdoor room. 5min walk to nearest restarants etc yet set in a quite location. 5mins drive to beach. It was nice to no the owners are on hand as they have given us great advice and information on many things, and made you feel that more secure.This property is lovely and is well worth the money.Will defiently go back.
