Property and local area description
A large spacious, peaceful cottage with spectacular scenery all around
The cottage is placed on a hill in a truly quiet farming village, enjoying spectacular Nothern & Southerly views of the Eden Valley and surrounding areas. Nearest convenience store & pubs 1.5 miles away, with full facilities (shops, restaurants, supermarket, petrol station etc) in the busy market town of Kirkby Stepehen just 4 miles away. The property is a perfect mix of traditional rustic and modern. Decorated & furnished in a practical and unpretentious style, with a focus on friendly family living.
There are 4 available bedrooms, ranging from a single room to an exceptionally large family bedroom - all with fabulous views, plus some spare beds & a cot. Most bedrooms have a washbasin. The kitchen is a large room with a TV used for both cooking, eating and living. The oil fired Aga is complimented by a modern double oven and halogen hob. There are 2 living rooms with TV & DVDs, one of which is, again, exceptionally large and doubles as another dining area and also a games room (table tennins, dartboard and lots of board games & jigsaws available). Upstairs also features a quiet sitting area for reading, stargazing (telescope available) or just relaxing. There is ample parking for 4 cars, with more car parking close by. The cottage is ideally placed for a variety of days out, with the Lake District to the South/West, Northumberland to the North, Durham and the East, and the spectacular North Yorkshire Moors to the South. Or for those preferring to stay close to "home" there are plenty of interesting places such as Appleby, Brough Castle and Penrith, plus lots of walking & cycling routes.
Outside is an stunniing large rear garden over looking the Eden valley, split into 3 levels of lawn. There is a large patio with a barbeque and furniture. The cottage also offers the use of an outdoor Hot Tub enabling you to relax & enjoy the panoramic views in style. Another lawn at the font of the house offers views towards the northern hills and sheep are genarally grazing in the adjascent fields. At the end of the drive there is a small childrens playground, and a path leading down to the local church & the River Eden.
If you are looking for a peaceful & relaxing family / group holiday, with the pleasures of country living to enjoy, this is the place for you.
No particular changeover day - so ideal for weekends or longer breaks.
