Property and local area description
2 Bed Apartment in London Docklands close to Canary Wharf & Olympics Venue
This luxury apartment is suitable for families and business travellers. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen and it is located at about three minutes walk to Custom House Station (Docklands Light Railway). This is about 20minutes to Central London for London Eye, National gallery, Tower of London, Big Ben etc. And it is less than 10minutes away from Canary Wharf, Westfield Shopping Mall, and The Olympics Stadium in Stratford City. Therefore the apartment is in a great location to enjoy both ends of London.
London is a very historic city and has always been a major tourist attraction, its rich history dates back to centuries ago. In the 1600 the population of London may have reached about 250,000. London’s population grew from 950,000 in 1800 to 6 million in 1900, part of the reason for the growth of London was the railway, which made it possible for people to live away from the city centre and travel to work each day.
In the early 20th century the old London industries (brewing, Sugar refining, flour milling, engineering) continued and new industries grew in the suburbs such as aircraft building, vehicle manufacturing and making electrical goods.
However, relative recent history of the city includes the building of the Millennium Wheel, popularly known as the ‘London Eye’. This attraction gives views of London and is now the most popular tourist attraction in the city. With the 2012 Olympics being held in London, this confirms its status as one of the world's greatest cities and should hopefully bring more visitors to this wonderful city. Today’s population of London is 7.2 million
Our apartment is located in the east-end of the city also known as The Docklands. It forms part of the boroughs of Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Greenwich. The docks were formerly part of the Port of London, at one time the world's largest port. They have now been redeveloped principally for commercial and residential use. And the area is fast becoming the most exclusive area of London.
There are many interesting places within the local area and they include the Excel Conference and Exhibition centre, Canary wharf, which is home to the largest banks and financial institutions in the world and the 2012 London Olympics, is taking place within this locality. We also have the newly opened Westfield Shopping Mall, which is Europe’s largest urban shopping mall with international brands, restaurants, cinema, fresh food courts and vast leisure facilities.
This apartment is in great location to experience both ends of London.
