The town of San Vicente and the city of Alicante are both lovely. We spent many lovely hours walking around the city and the exploring the side streets as well as the amazing upmarket marina area with its luxury yachts and splendour. Everyone we met was very friendly. Just steer clear of the pub/bar cafes, and eat in a more traditional spanish restaurant (Darsena in the marina is terrific) or at one of the street pizzerias on the harbour promenade (tarantinos was our favourite, inexpensive but truly wonderful food and service). We expected a pretty cheap Spanish week-in-the-sun, and were truly blown away by this lovely area. For beach lovers, try the beach at Saint Joan (San Juan) just east of Alicante seafront. So clean even I would swim there!

Alicante is a town with alot to offer.
Plenty to see and do for families and couples alike. Whether you want activities on beach or in the sea, or just stroll along the marina.
Excellent restaurants and plenty of historical places to visit.
