Bradenton is a convenient destination for the beaches, Sarasota and all it has to offer, and shopping, Ellenton has a good outlet mall which is only a few minutes drive away, Sarasota Square Mall has a good cinema complex and a decent array of shops. You are never more than a few minutes away from a supermarket Publix/Walmart/Sweetbay.
There are decent restaurants - you have the big chains and on the barrier islands you have smaller individual restaurants. Some are very good.
You are near Busch Gardens if you want a theme park, Myakka and Oscar Scherer state parks, Mote Marine (worth a visit). There are plenty of golf courses too.
Venice and it's beaches are about a 1/2 an hour away.

Bradenton is family friendly with good shopping and good beaches, decent restaurants at reasonable prices, one our favourite beaches is Holmes beach on Anna Maria Island - good facilites and the water is shallow for quite a long way out making it ideal for children and there is a free tram service around the island. Bradenton is ideal for a beach based holiday with plenty of shopping.

Bradenton is glorious. It has a lot to offer if you would like a more relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of Orlando where you will find most tourists. The beaches in Bradenton are gorgeous and are not overcrowded so you can really sit back, relax and enjoy the sunshine in tranquility. There are many restaurants to suit everyone's taste and plenty of opporunity for shopping whether it be in the Desoto Square mall or in the nearby Ellenton designer outlet. For the golf lover there are many beautiful courses in the area and for the amateur there is mini golf. You may also want to try fishing or parasailing. If you would prefer to visit a theme park, Busch Gardens is around an hour drive away. If you have never been to Bradenton before, its is definitely worth a visit!
