Albufeira has something for everyone. The mixture of the old town and the new (the Strip) keeps all age groups happy. The strip provides discos and bars for those that have the energy! and the old town provides chill out opportunities with people watching. There is always something going on in the Plaza in the old town to keep the little ones busy such as puppet shows and mime artists. Good mixture of restaurants offering steaks, fish, chinese and indian to mention a few.

A very friendly location with much to do and see. The area caters for all ages with various activites for all to do, from waterparks like Slide and Splash, to Zoo Marine and then the beaches, golf courses & even the various boat activites on offer such as Dolphin encounters, sea fishing or sight seeing trips.

We stayed in a villa in Cerro Do Aura which is around 10-15 min drive from strip & old town of Albuferia.  It was a quiet & peaceful area and was great for a relaxing holiday.
A car would help you explore the beautiful countryside around Albuferia but is not essential as there is enough to do around the main resorts of Albuferia with its wide range of bars and restuarants.  Its ideal for families, couples or groups of friends.
All in all Albuferia caters for everyone.

Albufiera has all you want on a "sun" holiday. Climate, Fantastic Beach, lots of shops selling trinkets and cheap football jerseys. Restaurants for every taste (and wallet). WaterParks, Go Karting, a myriad of attractions in a twenty minute drive. All of theses things are available in many many other resorts in Spain, Greece, Italy etc. but in Albufeira you feel that they are yours to enjoy not to endure. The "Hard Sell" and arrogance of other destinations is very obviously absent. Thats why I return so often to Albufiera.

Albufeira has it all, old world charm mixed with the very modern (the Marina). It has night life for young and old, it has so many restaurants you can not fail to be catered for.
The areas lovely clean beaches & coves are so vast in number that it would take many holidays to explore them all.
Well worth a visit...... or two !!

The Old Town is so picturesque and lively. Locals are friendly and there a dozens of lovely restaurants. One I would most definitely recommend (especially for children) is the Esplanade du Tunel which is through the archway on the seafront. Friendly waiters and beautiful food (not just steak and chips!) and reasonable (even in the current climate!)

We spent the last week of May at Albufeira and found the resort an ideal getaway at an affordable price. The town has kept its cultural/historic aspects whilst providing modern facilities for the holidaymaker. For example, the historic main square has a cultural feel to it but is smart, well maintained and provides the ideal place to sit and watch the world go by at a leisurely pace. The beach was large, relatively clean (compared to some resorts I've visited) and I never felt crowded, but also provided watersports for the more adventurous. There were ample restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets some of them with beautiful views of the bay. Although the town was fairly busy at night I never felt threatened or like I was on a 18 to 30 holiday. What makes Albufeira an ideal resort for a holiday is its ability to offer something to everyone. It offers culture, watersports, various restaurants, clean uncrowded beaches, good nights out or quiet nights in and all in a safe, affordable atmosphere.

I have been to many med hols ,spain cyprus, italy corsica.etc.I have been to the algarve now for the third time. My wife and I have now decided that this is now going to be our holiday destination for the forseeable future as it has all the things we enjoy. Villa pascoal is the place that we would like to come back to year after year. I Would like to say to the owners we had a wonderful holiday.

Albuferia is a must to visit. We went 6 years ago and went back this year. It has grown alot but we are still impressed with it. We love the old town, full of character. The beaches are beautiful, lovely restaurants and the people are so friendly there. We took some friends with us who have not been to portugal before, they liked it that much they are looking into buying a villa there!! Can't wait to go again.

Albufeira is a fantastic place to stay; it offers a great holiday for all ages. For the young there is the beach, watersports and an incredible amount of bars and clubs the come alive at about 8, however it is quiet and relaxing during the day allowing you to visit the old town for a cultural tour or use one of the many bus services to reach out of town water parks and aquatic centres. Albufeira is well kept with plenty of shops and the locals are all very friendly. I will be returning to Albufeira and I can recommend this wonderful part of the Algarve to both young and old.

Albufeira would be a lot more 'resortey' than Guia. Guia is pretty quiet and wouldn't have your typical resort strip. There are places to go for drinks/food in Guia, but if you wanted to go for the neon and late night bars - you could get a taxi to Albufeira.
