Alfaz del Pi boasts a great mix of nationalities, ninety in all..! It is actually famous on the Costa Blanca for having more full-time foreign residents than Spanish. This variety makes Alfaz a fascinating place to both reside and visit.
You will find the town centre of Alfaz 2 km inland, but Alfaz stretches to the coast where you can find the beach of ALBIR and the sea promenade known as Paseo de las Estrellas (Promenade of the Stars) because it is studded with the names of actors honoured at the Alfaz del Pi film Festival, which happens every July.
Make sure you walk to the lighthouse and enjoy the stunning views of the bay.
The name of Alfaz derives from the Arab word meaning sown field. The Pi part comes because it is the Valencian word for pine-tree.. in 1786 villagers planted a pine tree as a protest and demand for independence from the Polop Barony, although it took until 1836 to achieve this.
