It looks as if they have recently decided to spend some money on Alghero. The old town is absolutely delightful. There is a very long and recently paved walkway along the beach with massive new lighting. There is a large section of beach (which is nearest to the old town) which cannot be used as it is overgrown with shrubs and full of dried up seaweed. There are a couple of garden areas that have been beautifully tended, lots of other areas need attention. The beach where you can hire a sunbed is a good 15 - 20 minute walk from the old town where there are lots of lovely restaurants. We really enjoyed Alghero and it is defintitely worth a visit.
