Travel Reviews : Almerimar

Review by Paula Carvalhais from Portugal

Almerimar is a peacful, enjoyable, relaxing clean village to spend your holidays with your family and kids. Teenagers will find Almerimar boring because there's no nightlife. For me this is HEAVEN!

I have been to every costa in Spain and in my opinion The Costa Almeria is one of the nicest and unspoilt regions you can go to.

Almerimar where I stayed is a relaxing and cosmopolitan places I have stayed in without the snobbery of other similar harbour based resorts. It is a million miles away from the tacky dross of Benidorm and I commend the locals for keeping it that way.

The Spanish here are very friendly and genuine unlike some of the other costas we have been to.

The area is covered in greenhouses that provide most of the fruit and veg we have in our supermarkets here, this seems to reflect on the cost of living, food is much cheaper here than in the north and fruit and veg is of a very high standard.

One other thing I have never experienced before in Spain is that the local bars here give free Tapas with drinks, so when you are asked if you want food (comida) say yes its free.

Overall an gem of a place for people who like real Spain, however it's no good if you like places such as Benidorm

Almost forgot mini hollywood in Tabernas where a lot of famous westerns starring the likes of Clint Eastwood were filmed is absolutely brilliant and value for money, it's about 30 mins drive from almerimar and is around 17 euros for adults and 10 for under 12s there is also a pool and a sizeable zoo on the site, excellent value for money.

Review by Filipa Ferreira from Kingston Upon Thames

The apartment was really nice and tidy. Extremely spacious, and with amazing views from both balconies. The beach was just two steps from the gates, it had a really nice pool and on the back of the building there was a huge lake where we saw several people practicing canoeing and sailing. It is a really peaceful place Almerimar, still a few buildings under construction on the area, but just from what we saw from now it is really well maintained the grounds and will be definitely a great spot to have such a lovely apartment. Would definitly consider going back in the future.

Almaria Airport is a pleasure to use. It's small and convenient.

Motoring along this coast is so easy. It reminded me of the M! in the sixties when one drove for pleasure.

Almerimar is a must if you like peace and quiet and a little class added to your holiday.

Review by Charlotte Fursdon from Taunton

Almerimar is quiet and family orientated. I would recomend to hire a car to look around the surrounding area.

Almerimar is a lovely town with some nice resteraunts and tapas bars, the marina and bars around their were relaxing not too busy and a good mix of people to suit everybody. Alot of building work going on at the moment which does spoil the views. We had a really fab holiday and we will definitley return.
