Travel Guides: All Countries / Spain / Costa del Sol / Anteguera
Local culture... Antequera may feel a million miles away from the busy coast and is the perfect place to take it easy while soaking up the Spanish culture as well as the Spanish sun.
But for those wanting a little more adventure, try visiting El Chorro. El Chorro is another natural park consisting of three lakes and a huge gorge. The scenery is quite breath-taking. Here you can take part in a number of activities such as Climbing, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, photographing nature, swimming or fishing to name but a few.
The surrounding area of Antequera offers a lot too. Hiring a car allows you to see areas of Andalusia that you would not have heard of unless. There are many hidden villages full of secrets waiting for you to discover.
Antequera has two traditional dishes: Porra Antequerana is a bread based dish with tomatoes and pepper served in the Summer time. The second dish is a dessert known as ‘bienmesaba’ which is made from egg whites and syrup. You can sample these dishes at one of the many good restaurants in the town.
