This property integrates totally into the village, is located in an historical property, with the corresponding lacks and little problems but totally renovated bathrooms, kitchen facilities etc, I prefer that to the globally available uniformity. If you sleep in one of the big bedrooms on the park side, you will need to get accustomed to the river noise, not to the cars… If you have a big family and are forced to sleep in the front room, just get up at 7 AM and go jogging through the village… Bagni di Lucca is a perfect stay for the summer, with children (not too small) or without (but have in mind to climb some stairs every day!), 5-7 degrees below the Lucca and Pisa plains, with a great public pool, a weekly market, lots of things to do in the surroundings (from horse riding, biking, walking, relaxing at the river, visiting historical sites, climbing on middle-age castles), and the food is simply indescribable. If you avoid the small supermarket (owned by a big chain of course), and instead buy at the local shops, at the weekly market, and in the surrounding villages (organic honey and olive oil in Benabbio, handmade goat cheese in Lucchio, and so on, all in 15-20 minutes drive), you might be surprised how cheap it is to eat authentic food. The owner has done everything he can I would say to make the stay as good as possible. There is a complete booklet explaining everything from the water system to the best restaurants in 30 km surrounding. I hope all visitors will be careful with this house; there are not so many authentic things left!
