A lovely unspoilt little town, beautiful restaurants, friendly people, and a truly relaxing place to stay.

We just loved Cabanas, the local people were so friendly and laid back, we dined in the local restaurants and their food was excellent.

We have just returned from Cabanas De Tavira and would definately recommend this holiday to those of you who want authentic , local , relaxing holidays . Very envious of anyone who has property over there . We have been to the Greek islands on many other holidays in the past but always said we would not want to go back to the same place twice . However my wife and I agreed that this would be a holiday we definately would go back too ! . Before we went we read many reviews about the place and someone had written after holidaying there , " keep it to yourself and don't tell anyone about it ! " , I now know what they meant , so go , enjoy the ambience and Keep quiet about it ! .

Cabanas is an unspoilt little town with a good few decent restaurants and bars, its a little old fashioned so if you expect disco's bright lights and posh shops forget it, but if you want a day strolling round an old quiet fishing village eating and drinking then this could be the place for you.

Cabanas is unspoiled by mass tourism and so has a much more Portuguese feel. It is small and quiet so if you want more than a beautiful beach, a good selection of great restaurants, a few shops, and a relaxing, peaceful holiday, then Cabanas is not the place for you.
Review by Roy Stone from Birmingham
We like the Tavira/Cabanas area very much as it reminds us of "old traditional Portugal" with narrow cobbled streets and beautifully tiled town houses which blend in with the newer developments that are springing up. There are plenty of good restaurants in Cabanas offering high quality food across a range of prices from the relatively inexpensive to meals where you push the boat out and pay that bit more! If you go, try using the train - a cheap way of seeing more than the area, although be prepared for the old trains which are definitely not high tech - an experience in itself!

Small town with good selection of restaurants & bars. Boat trip across to very pretty beach. We went off season so quite quiet but apparently restaurants get quite busy during high season. About 30 mins easy drive from Faro airport. Lots of building work going on but mainly away from the coastline.

Just arrived home, totally chilled out after a weeks visit to Cabanas. A true typical algarvian fishing village. Great weather helped too at this time of year. Sit in one of the waterfront cafes and watch the natives go about their "busy" lives!! Take a wander down the back streets and find some easily-missed restaurants and drinking holes. Do give them a try, firstly they are a lot better value for money and secondly I feel they seem to lose out to the majority of the business because they are not on the main prom. One in particular is quite far away from the Cabanas Golden Park resort  but musnĀ“t be missed. The Cabanas Brasserie is hidden behind the church but well worth the walk. Great family run restaurant with a delicious menu and catering for veggies too. Dont miss it.
We shall be back next year looking for our fix of " Cabanas." Take off your blinkers and get up the back streets !!!!

We love the place, no airs or graces, unbelievably good value, very friendly locals, village atmosphere, brilliant restaraunts and the little adventure over to my favourite beach in the world, a joy!
Review by Patrick Smith from Ashtead
Overall this would suit families with younger children, safe atmosphere. No real nightlife apart from one late night restaurant/pub. It's great if you want miles of golden sandy beaches. Some water sport but not much. Unspoilt beaches. Taking a water taxi to the beach was a novelty. The service was good - we never waited more than 5 minutes. Good restaurants, try Pedro's fish restaurant - fantastic and very reasonable prices.

Cabans was really authentic. The charm of the place and the unspoilt nature was a real attraction for us. All round for relaxation and "chilling" Cabanas is the place to go.
Review by Stewart Pinnington from Hartforshire
Cabans is a very unspolit and a typical Algarvian fishing village, the restaurants serve beautiful fish as it is a speciality but they also cater for other tastes as well. The people are very friendly, the beaches are absolutely fantastic an Idela place for families and to relax and unwind. It is easy to get to from Faro and also very accessible to the waterparks and Zoomarine themepark. We would highly recommend this to anyone.
