Travel Guides: All Countries / Spain / Canary Islands
The Canary Islands consist of 4 main Islands; Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Tenerife and Lanzarote. The hot climate and interesting landscapes make them a popular and fascinating place to visit. Each island has its own diverse character, all different from the next.
Tenerife is a favourite with the tourists, namely for its great white sandy beaches. It is also the largest island in the Archipelago. Lanzarote stands out from the other islands for its most unusual volcanic landscapes. Residents used to know it as ‘the island that God forgot’ due to the rather baron surroundings. Gran Canaria has a very mixed landscape, with one part the island being desert land, the next being tropical forests and snowy mountain peaks. This unique biosphere is one unlike anywhere else. Finally, Fuerteventura’s claim to fame is that it is home to the longest beach on the archipelago and is also the island with the oldest history.
So what ever island you choose to visit you are sure to find it both interesting and thoroughly enjoyable.
