The Canaries understand that they are a favoured tourist destination, and so are well equipped with good holiday facilities. The spectacular landscape gives good reason to get out and explore. Cycling, hiking and trekking are all popular ways of doing this. Closer to the coast you will find there are plenty of water sports available to you, including sailing, water skiing and scuba diving.
Like any typical Mediterranean tourist destination there are plenty of golf courses scattered around the islands.
Seafood and Fish are what make up a staple diet here but there are plenty of regional dishes too. On Lanzarote a favourite dish is Potato Stew and Watercress soup. Many dishes include pork like the Tenerife speciality marinated pork and goat. The local wine made with the grapes of MalavasÃa is strong, dry and very pleasant.
