This area is great for families but needs a little forward planning to get the most from the area and holiday.
A car is a must we felt to visit the water park, lovely beaches and other local attractions.
We have been to this area before and really enjoyed the fact that it was relatively unspoilt region with the beaches mainly occupied by the locals or spanish on holiday.
Villa Martin was a bit more lively with a good holiday atmosphere that the family could enjoy.
The San Miguel De-Salinas town had some good restuarants and a enjoyable market on the wednesday.
The roads in the area are good and not too busy and make it is relatively easy to travel to the local attactions.
Overall the area has plenty to offer for a family holiday.

Great location and property for golfers, within close proximity to more than a half a dozen good golf courses. A great location for socialising, with good pubs and restaurants close by. The villa although slightly off the beaten track and is great value for money.

El Galan is a very up and coming area and very popular with golfers and young families. The area is not very busy in itself, however the bars and resteraunts are crowded even in mid September after approx 9:30pm. With regards to food and drink, menus cater for every palate, however it would have been nice to see traditional spanish food on menus. The drinks were lovely and not expensive approx 1E 70c for a glass of wine ans 9E for a jug of Sangria (which is very strong!). If you like to travel, we really recommend car hire (although we did not), as some areas such as Villamartin Plaza is not within walking distance. The bus service was very confusing as the winter timetable was in the process of starting, yet not quite! therefore the times on the bus timetable are not the times when the bus should reach you, but when the bus reaches the hospital prior to picking you up!! Did not see any gift shop close to where we stayed, however the Mercadona supermarket has great meat for a BBQ, and at reasonable prices.
Overall, quiet area, transport a must and quite hilly at some parts. Nice relaxing area with some amenities literally around the corner.

I found el galan very british which is absolutely fine, I was also surprised by how much dog poo and litter their was, but overall it was very very peaceful and found it a truly relaxing holiday.

El Galan is very quiet and very English. No hotels only villas and lots of ex pats living there. 24 hour supermarket and various pubs, bars and restaurants. You definitely need a car to get anywhere but there are commercial centres, golf courses and a large shopping mall, Dos Mares, cloe by if yo get bored of the sun (or don't have any!!)

In general, I would describe El Galan as a quiet housing estate, with nice villas but packed too closely together (this probably describes most urbanisations in this part of Spain). The surrounding restaurants are good but not memorable and the areas is well served with supermarkets. My view is that it is more suited to residents living there all year round or people looking for a quiet holiday rather than holidaymakers looking for a bit of entertainment or night life within walking distance
